Mad-in-love Imran gets engaged to girlfriend

Imran Khan has finally got engaged to his long- time girlfriend Avantika Malik. The ceremony took place at Karjat on the outskirts of Mumbai on Saturday.

Imran and Avantika - who had been dating for eight years before getting hitched - were always open about their relationship and prepared for their engagement with much excitement.

Preparation for the grand day took place months in advance, ever since Imran proposed Avantika in June. Imran made sure that the day was made special and memorable with many treats for his girl, which included a red Beetle car.Imran even designed the engagement ring himself for his lady.

"We did not want to go in for the usual invitation cards. So, we ordered special invites from a company in the US. It was a sand- filled bottle which had the invite scroll inside." But two weeks after the 'cards' were shipped to him, Imran received a similar invite for a party by a leading paper.

Apparently, he wanted to scrap the idea at the time thinking it was not as innovative as they thought it would be. But they went ahead with it eventually. A little birdie also told us that Imran was extremely choosy about the food and drinks to be served on the occasion. He also flew in cooks from Lucknow as he wanted authentic Lucknowi food for the occasion, considering the fact that most of his immediate family is from the city.

Swishy Katrina Kaif is forced to disappear in 2010

Katrina Kaif is out of work or so it’s said. She might be touted to have a series of flicks lined up this year.

But industry is abuzz with reports that Katrina Kaif is more or less without a film this year.

The sizzler, who belted a number of rom-coms as Box Office hits. Last year, is now fighting her cute girl image to get more substantial roles.

But the industry it seems, is in no mood to oblige the dainty beauty’s request.

As after ‘Rajneeti’, Kat has a few films left in her kitty. Ever since speculations of Kat banking.

On her lead actors to churn hits got around, the belle has been striving hard to prove herself.

And in her bid to lash out at her critics, Katrina reportedly sent out feelers to Madhur Bhandarkar.

The stunner, it is believed, wants to work with the maverick director to prove her acting skills. Nevertheless, Madhur refused to acknowledge Kat’s demands.Confirming the news, a source said, “Most of Katrina’s movies have been romcoms or commercial cinema.

This year she has Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti, which is more serious cinema compared to her other movies. She wants to broaden her horizons and work for issue-based films, like the ones Madhur Bhandarkar does.

Katrina likes all his films, more so because they are women-centric. Also, his lead actresses have won accolades for their performance and that has boosted their career graph. She has been sending him feelers.”

What’s interesting is that the source adds, “Apart from Rajneeti, which releases this year, Katrina has just one project in hand, the Abbas Mustan remake of The Italian Job. A lot of projects have been spoken about, but as of now nothing has been signed officially.”

Riya Sens TV Debut

Riya Sen makes her TV debut with a cameo in Paritosh Painter’s Shri Adi Manav. She plays herself in an episode in which the heroes enter a Win A Date with Riya Sen competition. A source from the programme says, “Despite being a Bollywood celeb she was very polite to her co-stars in the serial and thus exhibited a perfect example of being the ‘down to earth’ gorgeous diva.”

Riya also makes a small appearance in the Rituparno Ghosh Bengali movie Abhomaan. How did that come about? “I spoke to Rituparno over the phone and the next thing I knew was that I was in Calcutta,” she explains, “I didn’t ask him anything about the film or my character. I had no clue what I was going to be offered. I went to the sets with a totally blank mind and in the next 45 minutes I was delivering!” Riya sees the performance as a taster for her first real Ghosh film Noukodubi, which releases shortly.

Meanwhile, Riya’s slate is fully booked for the near future. “I am doing a satirical comedy called Benny and Bablu,” she confides, “I play a receptionist who gets into prostitution without knowing what she is getting into. It’s got an ensemble cast including Kay Kay Menon. I am also doing Jennifer, a supernatural thriller. Eddy Seth, a guy from theatre, is opposite me. We are the protagonists and it’s not a typical blood-and-horror film.”

Shahid Kapur has finally arrived

Shahid Kapur seems to be on a joy ride these days. He is not the old Shahid anymore who was once just latching.

On to his famous superstar girlfriend Kareena Kapoor for getting a part of her “over-the-top” limelight. He has reinvented himself.

Shahid already had the exceptional chocolate boy appearance to his credit but that was not matched by box office success.

But, lately lady luck has smiled on him with hits like “Jab We Met” and the underdog movie “Kaminey.”

I was just myself and success happened
In the latest interview with Spicezee.com, the actor said that he was happy with his frequently changing appearances.

He has appeared on the show two times previously and every time he was sporting a new look.

When quizzed by the host "Swati" about the same, he politely replied that he has been trying to operate things for him in a distinct way and it should not be looked upon as re-invention, as it is commonly called by media.

He likes frequent experimentation with his looks for his roles. He was asked by the anchor on his reaction to the actors aged more than 40 trying to get flaunt-able six pack abs. He said that he was also pretty impressed with the all the three Khans bringing the concept of six pack abs to Bollywood.

Hair it comes, Hair it goes
In fact, everyone is so impressed with the Kapur lad these days that director Vishal Bhardwaj has remarked that Shahid can be a mega-star if he stops devoting all that extra attention to his countenance and hair.

However, ironically, Vishal was the one who suggested Shahid to grow his long hair for Kaminey. Kaminey will be remembered as one of the landmark movies in Shahid’s career because he looked so different in it.

But, Shahid believes that script is the pivotal determinant of the success of a movie. For him, the different, long haired look of Kaminey was just aimed to stun the audiences and attract them towards the movie halls.

In conclusion, Shahid according to himself, is a director’s man and now, his hair has been cut quite short, as insisted by his directors.
