Bollywood actor Mac Mohan, best known for playing the role of Gabbar Singh's sidekick Sambha, in Ramesh Sippy's superhit film Sholay, died of cancer this afternoon at the Kokilaben Dhirubhani Ambani hospital.
In Andheri in north-west Mumbai. Mac Mohan, who started his career with the film 'Haqeeqat' in 1964, acted in over 200 films in a career spanning 46 years.
His best known films included Amitabh Bachchan-starrers 'Satte Pe Satta', 'Don', 'Zanjeer' and 'Majboor'. The actor got recognition in the 1975 blockbuster. 'Sholay' in which Amjad Khan asks him, (Arre o Sambha, kitna inaam rakhe hain sarkar hum par?) and he answers, (Poore pachaas hazaar).
