Balki or Boney? Sridevi is unsure of her next step

After the triumph that's English Vinglish, what next ? That's the question which haunts Sridevi's career. 

Both her husband Boney Kapoor and her English Vinglish producer R Balki are keen to produce another film with Sridevi immediately. But the lady, perhaps spoilt for choices, is undecided. 

Says a source close to Sridevi, She is not against doing another film right away. But she wants her next film to be as special. She is waiting for both to come up with a script that would take her beyond English Vinglish. Both Boney and Balki are welcome to come up with the required script. Sri is game

Plans of casting her opposite the Big B in a film directed by Balki have been put on hold. 

Says a source close to Sridevi and her producer-husband Boney Kapoor, The intention is to take her 'comeback advantage' to another level. English Vinglish should and must not be a one-off success for Sridevi. 
We hear plans are now afoot to either cast her in a sequel to English Vinglish or for Boney Kapoor to produce another film that would do justice to his wife's tremendous screen presence. 

Says our source, Both Balki and Boney, the 'B's in Sri's life, are on the same page on this issue. Balki would be only too happy 

Speaking right after the film's success Sridevi says, Right now I am in a daze. I've never in my life given so many interviews. I've attended more media events and been seen on more television shows in the past few weeks than my entire life. What I'd like is to take a break, ...spend time with my husband and daughters. I've only been seeing them sporadically. 

Sridevi left to attend the Bangkok premiere of English Vinglish. 

People have been calling Boneyji saying wonderful things. It's all so positive at the moment. I haven't thought of what I'd like do in my next film,  says the comeback queen.

As Bollywood welcomes Sridevi back, hubby Boney Kapoor shares his joy

Sridevi is the toast of the town and one man who is definitely all smiles in none other than her husband Boney Kapoor, the successful man behind the successful wife.

An elated Boney Kapoor says, Everyone is excited and the kids and us are very happy with the tremendous feedback that we are getting.

The collections are much better than I had expected. Someone from the Gulf told me that the film is running very well there, something that has never been heard before about a woman-centric film in the theatres there.

Speaking about the character of the unsympathetic husband in the film, Boney says, Well, there are many husbands like him. So, I guess even my sympathies are with the wife. I saw the film about a month back and have already seen it four to five times. I will watch it 100 times over.

Ask the proud husband if he is planning a film with his wife soon, and he states, As soon as we get a good script. The script has to be interesting and Sri has to be excited. Since this is a happy phase for us, with Arjun also doing well, I will be starting No Entry Mein Entry first, then Arjun's film and then a film with Sri. Mr India will happen after that.

There has been some buzz that the veteran actress is looking a bit on the paler side in the film. Boney is quick to defend her and states, I feel that she has maintained herself very well. I guess I have her share of food as well!

Boney Kapoor ropes in son Arjun for Okkadu remake

Filmmaker Boney Kapoor is set to produce the remake of hit Telugu film "Okkadu" and has roped in son Arjun Kapoor to play the lead. It will go on floors next year.

"Yes, I am making the remake of Telugu film 'Okkadu'. Eros has bought the rights of this film. I can't reveal the details of it right now. Once things fall in place, I can talk about it," Boney told.

"The film will go on floors in June 2013. Arjun is busy with other projects including 'Aurangazeb', 'Gundey' and '2 States'. Once he is done with these films, he will start shooting for the remake," he added.

Boney is yet to decide on the leading lady and the director of this film.

"The leading lady is not yet finalized. I will be able to talk about it after two weeks. Once I get the clarity and I can say who will be directing the film and who will be the leading lady. Right now it's too early to talk about anything," he said.

Directed by Gunasekhar, the 2003 Telugu film featured Mahesh Babu, Bhumika Chawla and Prakash Raj.

I wanted to kill Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor

Sridevi's ardent fan RGV gets nostalgic as the veteran actress' Bollywood comeback film 'English Vinglish' gets ready for release

My journey to the real Sridevi from being just an obsessively die-hard fan of hers started when I was preparing for my debut film Shiva.

I used to walk from Nagarjuna's office in Chennai to a neighboring street where Sridevi used to live and I used to just stand and watch Sridevi's house from outside her gate. 

I just couldn't believe that the goddess of beauty lived in that stupid looking house. I say stupid because I believed that no manmade house deserves to house that beauty called SRIDEVI.

And then after Shiva became a big hit, to my utter disbelief a producer took me to meet her at that very same house where I used to stand outside the gate. It was at night and as luck would have it, there was a power cut in her house. 
I was sitting in her living room in candlelight waiting for the angel to appear and my heart was thumping like mad. Her mother told us she was busy packing, as she was about to catch a flight to go to Mumbai.

As I waited, every once in a while Sridevi was rapidly crossing the living room as she was moving from one room to another room in a rush to finish her packing, even as she apologetically smiled at me for the delay. Finally she came and said a matter-of-fact few lines that she would very much like to work with me, and then she left for Mumbai.
I wrote Kshana Kshanam, my Telugu film, as a love letter written to her by me with my camera. In the making of the film, I started discovering her as a person and I realised that she has an invisible wall around her and she does not let anyone cross that. 

Also during the course of working with her I began to understand more and more as a director about the nuances of performances and characterizations. 

Also through her style I realised that cinematic acting is many times more complex than the so-called method acting.

Her popularity had to be seen to be believed. When we were shooting in a Nandyal, there used to be a crowd of more than 20,000 people the whole night around the bungalow where she was staying. 
The crowd just stared at it while she was sleeping in the morning. We used to know that she is coming to the location because of the huge column of dust coming towards us that was caused by the thousands of people running behind her car. 

I finished Kshana Kshanam and in due course I have seen her going through a lot of personal tragedies like her father's death and her mother's mental illness. 

Suddenly the woman whose company everyone desired was left all alone in the world, till Boney Kapoor stepped into her life and married her. I was one of the few million men in the country who wanted to kill Boney out of sheer jealousy.

Straight from her super stardom and magazine covers, I saw her in Boney's house, serving tea like an ordinary housewife. I hated Boney Kapoor for bringing that angel from heaven down to being just an ordinary housewife. I stopped going to their house because I couldn't bear to see Sridevi in a realistic setting.
So what if Boney has the real Sri in his house? I have her captured in the form of a cinematic goddess in the temple of my mind camera and also as a divine angel in the heart of my celluloid dreams.

I thank God for creating Sridevi and I thank Louis Lumiere for creating the movie camera to capture and contain her beauty forever. I thank Balki and Gauri for bringing her back in such a befitting and wonderful film.
