Rajneesh Duggal wants to do intense love stories

Model-turned-actor Rajneesh Duggal relates to intense characters more than anything and is keen on doing an intense romantic movie.

Last seen as Karisma Kapoor's love interest in supernatural thriller "Dangerous Ishhq", the 32-year-old wants to continue doing grim roles.

"Even in love stories there are intense love stories, like 'Veer-Zaara', 'Kabhi Kabhie' and 'Devdas'. Those are the kind of stories I want to to do. Such characters, which are intensely romantic and not just running around the trees," Rajneesh told.

"I feel personally also I am an intense guy and these things attract me more. There is no such barrier where I want to stop myself, but my first choice will always be an intense character," he added.

A known face in the modelling world, he bowed in Bollywood with 2008 horror movie "1920".

How does he handle the pressure?

"I think pressure is something you decide whether to take it or not. One always want to do better than previous work...I want to better myself in every attempt. Hits and flops are part of work," he said.

His next is for small screen. He will be seen as Lord Rama in Life Ok's upcoming show "Ram Leela". To pe presented as a theatrical play, the show will be wrapped up in five weeks.

"I think the whole idea of doing 'Ram Leela' over a period of five weeks is amazing. On the whole it sounded very interesting and something that I have never done before. I have shot for television commercials, done ramp, done print ads but this is something live on stage that I am doing.

"It will be presented on television like a theatre work...On top of that playing Lord Rama sounded all the more interesting to me," he added.

Rajneesh turns Ram for TV debut

After trying his luck in Bollywood, model-turned-actor Rajneesh Duggal is set to get a taste of the small screen. He will make his TV debut by playing Lord Ram in new mythology-based show "Ram Leela", and he is excited.

"It feels absolutely great to be part of such a grand show. I have grown up listening to the tales of Ramayana and Mahabharata and being a worshipper myself, I'm extremely excited to portray the divine Lord Ram in front of TV audiences," Rajneesh said in a statement.

The actor, who has featured in films like "1920", "Phhir" and "Dangerous Ishhq", finds his new role challenging.

"I have always believed in doing something different with every project of mine, and portraying the character of Lord Ram is definitely challenging. Since it's a musical, there is so much to explore - be it dancing or doing physical stunts, it's a great learning for me," he said.

"Ram Leela", which is expected to have a mix of dance, drama, music and modern technology, will go on air on Life OK. To be telecast Oct 21-Nov 18, it is being marketed as a Dussehra to Diwali special show.

It will have Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn as the narrator.

Models are spoilt like anything: Rajneesh Duggal

Actor feels that models are too spoilt and so have to struggle doubly hard to make it in films

Even after spending almost four years in Bollywood, Rajneesh Duggal is yet to taste box office success. The model-turned-actor who made his debut in Vikram Bhatt's 1920, blames it on his more successful past as one of the handful of successful male models in the country.

Rajneesh feels that while models have it easier, given the very-organised structure of their industry, model-turned-actors however find it difficult to adjust in B-Town. And that is because as models previously, they hardly ever faced stiff challenges.

He points out, `Being a person who comes from a modelling background, I can say that they are spoilt like anything. After a certain point, there aren't many challenges to look forward to. That's also the reason why most of them feel saturated in their profession.`

The 32-year-old's last big screen appearance was opposite Karisma Kapoor in Dangerous Ishq, that didn't create any buzz at the box office. But Rajneesh prefers to take all the experience in his stride. He'll be next seen portraying an enigmatic character in a psycho- thriller and he's currently practicing hard to get the character's nuances right.

Rajneesh further adds that the transition from ramp to big screen has been eventful for him but not without surprises. `Earlier, I used to think that memorising the dialogues and delivering them in front of the camera would be the most difficult part.

But now it comes quite easily to me. There are other challenges like shooting under the blistering sun or unfavourable weather and the list goes on. It's one heck of a ride out there!` he concludes.
