Tena Desae faints during shoot

While shooting on the high seas, a sick Tena Desae blacked out

Sometimes it is best to take the bull by its horns. Tena Desae did the same but flunked miserably. The actress who has seasickness was required to shoot in the middle of an ocean in Fiji. She did manage to give a few shots but ultimately passed out.

A source from the sets says, Tena and her co-star Rajeev Khandelwal had a sequence on a boat. Unfortunately the water was very choppy that day. And not a lot of people knew of Tena's discomfort. About 20 minutes into her scenes, Tena started throwing up. The crewmembers were far out into the sea. Finally, after much gagging and feeling giddy, she blacked out.
The unit took her back to the shore where she was given first aid, adds the source. Tena says, It was the first shot of the day and I was doing absolutely fine. But half an hour into the shoot, the seasickness hit me hard. I had to ignore all of that and carry on with my work.

Rajeev's kissing issue!

Rajeev Khandelwal was quite a nervous man when it came to shooting for his first on-screen smooch

Stealing your first kiss, be it in real life or on the reel, is never easy. Rajeev Khandelwal apparently had a really tough time shooting for his first-ever smooching sequence opposite Tena Desae in an upcoming film.

A source says, The two were required to shoot for this sequence in the middle of the road in Fiji. Director Aditya Dutt wanted to set the scene amidst a regular surrounding, in order to capture their natural reaction.

Since the road was pretty crowded, Rajeev and Tena became very nervous, so much so that their anxiety was quite palpable.

However, the source adds that the kind of emotions their faces were emoting was exactly what the director needed for his film. I wanted to shoot their kiss from several angles and both Rajeev and Tena had to repeat it again and again for the cameras,  says Dutt.

I almost never have bad hair days: Tena Desae

When I'm heading for a party, there are a few things that I need with me in my bag, including a gloss, a compact, my wallet, keys and cell phone.

And great company at the party is something I look forward to. As for make-up, it depends on what I'm wearing. Smoky eyes-nude lips or simple eye-make up and a strong lip colour work well for me. I like to keep my skin fresh and glowing.

I love using glitter and gloss so evening makeup is always the most fun! For my hair, I use frizz-control or curl-boosting products (as the case may be) and leave my hair loose more often than not because it's my most defining look.

Luckily, I almost never have bad hair days. Wetting my hair and adding some leave-in conditioner to it always does the trick. Clean hair is always manageable.

Size zero overrated

Model-turned-actress Tena Desae feels size zero has been overrated by the media and it all depends on a person's body type.

"I think that's more written about in the media than anything else. If your bone structure is bigger than you can't have a size zero body. It's more important to be fit. I am a size zero and I want to put on weight for films," said Tena, 25, who debuted in Hindi films in 2011 with "Yeh Faasle".

Talking about her diet and fitness regime, she said: "I do yoga twice a week for flexibility and for what it does to my skin. I do weight training... I do that every alternate day."

Kissing scenes scare me

Model-turned-actress Tena Desae, who did an intimate scene in British comedy-drama "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel", says such scenes are scary for her.

But she is thankful to co-actor Dev Patel for his support while shooting the scene.

"A kissing sequence is still a nightmare for me. Luckily, I got through 'The Best...' with the help of Dev. He downplayed everything so that I stay confident. But it's still something which worries me," she told.

Directed by John Madden, known for directing Oscar winning movie "Shakespeare In Love", "The Best..." also starred Judi Dench and Bill Nighy.

It released here May 13.

Hailing from Bangalore, Tena shifted base to here with the dream of becoming an actor. She says movies had an impact on her life.

"For the longest time, I didn't know what I wanted to do. I was clueless. I watched some movies and I realised nothing moved me as much as movies. When I watch a sad film, I can cry for days. Acting just felt the right option," said the 25-year-old.
Tena debuted in Hindi films in 2011 with "Yeh Faasle", which also starred Anupam Kher.

Before entering movies, she worked as a model.

Explaining her move, she said: "I decided to enter into acting through modelling. It seemed like a smarter decision to be in advertisements, which are 30 seconds long, so you have a show reel when you go to directors as opposed to someone who didn't. I was really lucky that the plan worked."

"After modelling, you get used to the camera, you understand lighting. It gave me a sense of familiarity," she said.
