Ali Asgar mimics Karan Johar, Anu Malik

Actor and comedian Ali Asgar is known to play pranks on many celebrities at award functions.

At the 5th Boroplus Gold awards which will be aired on Zee TV on Saturday, Ali decided to poke fun on judges on three of the current reality shows on television - choreographer Geeta Kapur, music composer Anu Malik and filmmaker Karan Johar.

So Geeta Maa became Papita Maa, Anu Malik became Chunnu Malik and Karan Johar became Churan Johar.

In his act, Ali went on to pick apart each judges characteristic traits. Papita Maa was shown to be an emotional lady who binges on food and starts crying whenever she doesn't know what to say.

Chunnu Malik had his own tape-recorder which echoed 'wah wah' to everything he said including his claims that he was the best.

Churan Johar was portrayed as a snooty, well dressed, accent sporting high society judge who could only speak in innuendos who kept kissing a picture of SRK that was stuck to the back of his handheld mirror.

Ali, on being asked about how the judges will react on seeing the act on TV, laughs, "I think imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...If I was in their place, I would have been extremely flattered!"

"At awards shows, such acts are done in good humour and it is not a personal attack on any of the celebrities. I not trying to hurt anyone's sentiments. So I really hope they take it in the right spirit.`

The evening saw performances by Rithwik Dhanjani, Asha Negi, Pooja Gor, Siddharth Shukla, Karan Tacker, Krystle Dsouza, Ravi Dubey, Krushna Abhishek, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Deepika Singh, Karan Wahi, Aamir Ali, Karanveer Vohra, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Ankita Lokhande, Nandish Sandhu, Kinshuk Mahajan, Kratika Sengar, Sanaya Irani, Mouni Roy and many others.

The highlight of the evening however were Zee TV's homegrown stars - Rajasmita, Pradeep and Raghav aka Crockroaz.

The three contestants of DID 3 set the stage ablaze with their signature moves and thrilling stunts as they danced to a mix of film songs and the DID title track.

Anu Malik gung-ho about scoring for Sunny Deol's upcoming film

The composer is gung-ho about scoring for Sunny Deol's upcoming film

Anu Malik who is scoring the music for Anil Sharma’s upcoming film with Sunny Deol is looking forward to begin work on it. The film has a Punjab setting and the composer is gung-ho to create some stellar tunes.

Says Malik, “As the film has a rustic storyline, it gives me a chance to score something unique. It’s a project that excited me as it provides scope for some memorable tunes.”

He adds, “Sunny is a dear friend and I have known Anil too for long. When Anil called me and told me about the project there was that click factor that worked. I can’t wait to begin work on it.”

The versatile composer who’s been there and done it all is now extremely choosy about the projects he wants to be associated with. He is as comfortable creating music for films like Border and Refugee to Asoka and Om Shanti Om.

Anu now wants to take on projects that really excite him. He has also composed the music for an upcoming film, which stars newbies Nazia Hussain and Aditya Samanta.
