Kajol makes London's Mayor fly cattle class!

London Mayor flies cattle class when all business class seats were taken by actress' staff

Mayor of London Boris Johnson who is on a visit to India was apparently made to fly economy class from Hyderabad to Mumbai when all the business class seats were occupied by Kajol and her entourage.

Boris had no qualms flying economy when he was told that there was no place for him as none of the actress team members wanted to give up a seat for him. The mayor wrote on his micro-blogging site, Just landed in Mumbai, home of Bollywood. Delighted to met film mega star Kajol.

He even posted a snapshot taken with her on the site. Boris sure got a taste of Bollywood folks starry ways. Wonder what he thought of flying cattle class - as Shashi Tharoor would say!

Why Kajol never attended JTHJ premiere? She was NOT invited!

The real reason behind Kajol's no-show at the premiere of 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' predates the film's release

After much ado about former Yash Chopra heroine Kajol's no-show at the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, hot comes the gossip that the real reason behind her conspicuous absence rests elsewhere.

The real reason in fact finds its deep roots in the times when hubby Ajay Devgn's Bol Bachchan was in the making. Kajol was extremely upset that Yash Raj Films had demanded Rs 5 lakh from Ajay as a charge to reuse a certain section of their famous Kajra Re song, especially since she had done numerous appearances and cameos in their films free of charge. Apparently, it all started there.
A source adds, Initially Ajay agreed to pay the amount. However, YRF then hiked the sum to Rs 25 lakh for the 90-second sequence. Ajay was upset and so was Kajol. Ajay later consoled her saying it was all part of the business.

The ensuing tussle between her home production and Jab tak hai Jaan worsened when Kajol was hard-pressed to take sides. To top it all, YRF apparently did not even extend an invite to the actress to attend the event, which was graced by several former Chopra heroines.
The couple was apparently in a huge dilemma over whether Kajol should agree to grace the gala, given the complicated turn of events.

Another source states, It was clear that the battle lines were drawn. To Kajol's surprise, YRF did not invite her at all. She was definitely hurt but ultimately she decided to stand by her husband.

The source finally says, While Ajay insists that it is a war over who is right and who is wrong, by not inviting Kajol matters have turned worse. He felt that Kajol had nothing to do with it.
On his part, Ajay Devgn does not mince words on the issue and states, Yes, Kajol was not seen at the premiere as she was not invited.

Kajol's No-Show at Yash Chopra's Swan Song

Most of the lovely ladies who worked with Yash Chopra and Yashraj Films, including the elusive Sadhana, showed up for the Doyen's swan song.

Only Kajol, the heroine who worked in Yashraj's most successful film to date Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge didn't show up, leading to muted whispers across the huge august gathering that evening to pay homage to a man who wrote and rewrote many celluloid romance.

While a leading man very close to Yashraj says Kajol was not invited for the premiere at all (in keeping with the boxoffice feud that her husband Ajay Devgn had precipitated) a leading lady close to Aditya Chopra and his banner vehemently protests in Aditya Chopra's defence.

Kajol was most certainly invited. And I believe she had every intention of coming. There was no pressure from her husband Ajay Devgn not to attend the premiere. However Adi being one of her closest friends, didn't pressurize Kajol to attend the premiere.

From what I know Adi left the option to attend or not to attend entirely with Kajol. She finally decided to give it a skip because she wanted to avoid unnecessary controversies. Also, all said and done her loyalty is with her husband and his film.

Kajol's absence at the premiere was palpable. In his beloved father's absence it was presumed by all the distinguished invitees that Aditya Chopra would play the host of the evening along with the rest of the Chopra family.

Aditya Chhopra maintainted a very low profile throughout the evening.

Even later at the after-party that was held after the premiere on another floor of the Yashraj Studios, Aditya Chopra made just a fleeting appearance and then vanished.
However the evening went off like a charm. The theatre for the screening was constructed like an opera theatre with layered acoustics and a decor that nudged the finest opera theatres in Paris. Guests were seated in two areas.

One on a slightly higher level where actors and filmmakers closely associated with Yash Raj sat including of course the Bachchan family. Curiously Ashutosh Gowariker and R. Balki who have never been associated with Yashraj were also seated in the `family area`.

Lower down outside the `family area` one could see Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan who have worked in Yashraj's Mujhse Dosti Karogi and Fanaa.

Says an invitee, These are minor issues. The arrangement was impeccable. Pam Aunty greeted each and every guest personally. And it was wonderful to see heroines closely associated with the banner including Sadhana and Saira Banu present to pay a final homage to Yashji. Some of us wept openly when with the end -credits shots of Yashji shooting Jab Tak Hai Jaan came on.

I'm supporting Son of Sardaar: Kajol

All this while Kajol had adopted a no comment stand when asked about the controversy surrounding her husband Ajay Devgn's film and her best friend Shah Rukh Khan's movie

But while in Dubai, she seemed to have changed her stance. As reported 'Kads and Butler' Kajol along with Gerald Butler was in Dubai for a luxury watch event.

When asked about the boiling issue she quipped, I'm supporting Son of Sardar, it is my film, it is my home production.

So does that mean she will miss the premiere of SRK's film?

The women who sizzled in Yash Chopra's Chiffon Sarees

Whatever the era, the quintessential Yash Chopra heroine remains the same...

Not only did Yash Chopra leave his legendary stamp on every film he made, every costume that his heroine draped also became iconic in its own domain.
Sridevi in Chandni

From the virgin white saree fluttering in the breeze to the tight-fitting churidaars that displayed the leading lady's curves, each and every fashion element that the legendary filmmaker introduced in his films went on to become a rage.
Madhuri Dixit in Dil To Pagal Hai

Interestingly, what Chopra's heroines wore on-screen somehow managed to exude the exact persona they were meant to portray in their films. In Dil To Pagal Hai, Madhuri Dixit's buttercup yellow salwar kameez made her exuberant personality shine through.

Wrapped in her chiffon sarees, Rekha became the quintessential 'other woman' in Bollywood. The Chandni look became synonymous with Sridevi.
Several of Chopra's heroines essayed the bubbly girl-next-door. Naturally, Juhi Chawla showed up in baby pink and sunflower yellow salwars to let her inner child giggle aloud in Darr.
Sadhana in Waqt

In Waqt, the sophisticated Sadhana was given perfectly coiffed hairstyles and elegant jewellery. Clothes too became an essential element of the moviemaking process, helping the director paint the perfect portrait of his heroine.
Rekha in Silsila

And the foremost reason why 'the Yash Chopra look' worked like magic is because of his heroines' extreme professionalism just like their director to work under extreme conditions. The bandwagon of ladies braved the icy cold winds on the snow-capped Alps in very little other than the chiffon saree and their charm.
Preity Zinta in Veer Zaara

Little has changed over the years when it comes to the great director's style of filmmaking. No wonder then that chiffon French or desi will forever stay associated with evergreen romantic Yash Chopra.

Ten things you will never forget about Yash Chopra
Just like some of the most famous dialogues from Yash Chopra's films, here is a list of 10 most unforgettable aspects about the legendary filmmaker and his movies

1 The iconic song Aye meri Zohra jabeen, tujhe maloom nahi, in his directorial venture Waqt released in 1965. The song was picturised on the late Balraj Sahani and Achala Sachdev. The film went on to become a blockbuster and the song a cult hit. Till today the song is played and danced to at all major celebrations.
2 Yash Chopra's films like Deewar, Trishul and Kala Patthar established Amitabh Bachchan as the angry young man in Bollywood.
3 Chopra is known as the founder of films based on the 'lost and found' formula with Waqt, which later on was made famous by Manmohan Desai with many films.
4 He formed Yash-Raj Films with Rajesh Khanna as partner with Daag. The banner remains to be one of the most respected and the biggest in the country till date with many blockbuster films to their credit.
5 Made one of the most controversial films of all time in the form of Silsila, which had the real life triangle love story of Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Jaya Bacchan on screen. The film was released in 1981 and is still much talked about.

6 Chopra will always be remembered for his iconic songs during festivals. Be it a wedding song, a sangeet song or a mehendi track, Yash Chopra's films had all that and more. His Holi song in Silsila is still played during Holi celebrations till this date.
7 He made Lamhe in 1991 with Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, which is said to be his best work till date. The film, as most critics put, was way ahead of time.
8 He played a very big part is establishing Shah Rukh Khan as the superstar with his film Darr and his son Aditya Chopra directed Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, followed by Dil To Pagal Hai.

9 Aditya Chopra, son of Yash Chopra made his directorial debut with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge which is still running is theatres and remains to be the best contemporary romantic film till date.
10 Yash Chopra will always be remembered for introducing the Swiss Alps in his films like Silsila, DDLJ, Chandni, Lamhe, etc. So, synonymous is his love for the country that they have named a train, a railway station and even a lake after his name. Not to forget an entire suite in a hotel.

I'm shocked, I don't know how to react

Kajol, whose Yash Chopra film 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' completed 17 years of a continuous run just a day before the legend's demise

Yash Chopra's production Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), the directorial debut of his son Aditya, completed 17 years of a continuous run at the Maratha Mandir theatre on Saturday just a day prior to Chopra's passing away on Sunday.

DDLJ, which released on October 20, 1995, was Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan's career high. Playing Simran and Raj, they became Bollywood's most loved on-screen couple and went on do several other films together.

DDLJ also changed the entire scenario for romantic movies. For Kajol obviously there are many memories attached to Chopra and the film.

She says, I am truly shocked. I don't know how to react or what to say. He was a true veteran and an era is over with his passing. He will be missed.
Yash Chopra had organised an event in February 2011, when the film completed 800 weeks of running after theatre owner Manoj Desai had stated that he had no plans to discontinue the screening.

In early 2011, a theatre strike threatened the film's uninterrupted showing. Chopra had contacted theatre owners to try and ensure that the film's run would be unaffected. He wanted DDLJ to go for over 1,000 weeks.

Kajol has always been lucky for me: Karan Johar

Kajol is a must have for filmmaker Karan Johar in all his films because he feels his close friend is lucky for him. No wonder the actress features in a cameo in the song "Disco deewane" in Johar's forthcoming film "Student of The Year" (SOTY).

"Kajol is in the disco song and she has danced with the boys (Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan). Kajol's presence is very important for me. She has been there in every film of mine and she has always been lucky, " the 40-year-old said here.

Having Kajol in his films is almost like tradition, he says, adding: "I don't like breaking tradition, I am a creature of habit."

Johar's directorial debut "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" also featured Kajol, who was also seen in his other projects like "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "My Name Is Khan". She also made a cameo in the song "Rock n roll soniye" from "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna".

The two male actors of SOTY were impressed with the actress when they shot with her for "Disco deewane", a new age version of the famous 1980s hit by Nazia Hassan.

"It was great, she just came on the sets, picked up the steps in 10 to 15 minutes, while we had been learning the steps for seven days. We actually felt for the first time, the star power, " Siddharth said.

"Basically when she was on the set no one saw us. We were like dancers, everyone was like 'Kajol ma'am is coming', " added Varun, son of filmmaker David Dhawan.

Watch out for Ajay's Son Of Sardar: Kajol

Kajol is playing the perfect wife by spreading the good word about her husband Ajay Devgn's next film "Son Of Sardar". She says the trailer is just a glimpse of the movie.

"I haven't seen the (complete) film, but I have seen bits of it. It is looking fabulous. The trailer is good, but the film is even better," the 37-year-old said here.

Ajay has had a spate of successful films recently - be it the "Golmaal" series, "Singham" or "Bol Bachchan", and with "Son Of Sardar", he is only expected to take it to the next level.

"Son of Sardar", releasing Nov 13, also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha.
Meanwhile, Kajol, who recently sizzled on the red carpet of the Vogue beauty awards, says it is important to have the right attitude and confidence to carry off any look at such events.

"My red carpet style says that I have to have a good sense of humour to be able to take the criticism.

My red carpet style says that I have to have a big smile and it also says that I have to believe I am beautiful for you to believe I am beautiful," said Kajol.

Kajol herself has been keeping away from films and was last seen in "Toonpur Ka Superhero" in 2010, the same year when her film "My Name is Khan" had hit theatres.

Kajol enjoys reprieve from pictures

Kajol enjoys reprieve from picturesBollywood actress Kajol has proved herself as a multitasking professional woman, who knows well how to balance her professional life as well as personal life. Kajol took a good break from films when she gave birth to her daughter Nysa in 2003.

She returned with some notable movies like Fanaa, My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, We Are Family after taking proper care of daughter till she turned three. After the birth of her second baby son Yug who is just three months old, the doting mother has got busy with him and is devoting all her time to him.

The adoring mother says that her babies are the most important priority in her life now. So, she wants to take a break from films until her son turns 3 years old. The 35 year old actress is finding it very tough to promote her film Toonpur Ka Super hero because it takes her away from her kids.

The actress says that she took up this film because it targets today’s kids, who are very smart and exposed to the outside world. She informs that they could not yet show the film to Nysa and are planning to show the full movie once the final print comes out. Nysa has watched some parts of the movie and seems to have liked it.

Well, Toonpur Ka Super hero seems to be a gift from Kajol and Ajay Devgn to their kids. We hope to see Kajol back on screen soon but at the same time we understand her motherly instinct. So, the fans of Kajol would definitely wait for next three years to see her magical performance once again.

Kajol Perform with her mother

Kajol Perform with her motherFor the first time ever Kajol and her mother Tanuja are going to act together. Tanuja plays Kajol's reel life mom in the film Toonpur Ka Superhero directed by Kireet Khurana.

Though Tanuja is doing a cameo in the film, it will be interesting to see the mother-daughter duo on screen. Talking about how he managed to get Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Tanuja in the film, Kireet says, "It's been a casting coup for us with Ajay-Kajol and Tanuja mirroring their respective real life relationship. It's just the way we had planned and visualised it at the script level. After Ajay's instantaneous 'yes' after reading the script, we wanted Kajol to act alongside him. I was told that Kajol is discerning about choosing the scripts which was perfectly understandable for an actor of her calibre.

So, the apprehension whether she would agree to do the role lingered when we narrated the script to her. Pleasantly surprising us, Kajol's response was also spontaneous. Emboldened further, we decided to complete the 'family' in reel life as well and approached Tanuja for the cameo role of Kajol's mom. Tanuja was all too happy to be on board, too.

I think it's the unique live action and animation combination genre, which helped in securing the dream cast we wanted." About the camaraderie between the mother and daughter on sets, he adds, "Tanuja and Kajol share a great mom-daughter rapport. I remember they would always be chatty on the sets and happy to be together like long-lost friends."

I'm eager to be close to Kajol: Tanishaa

Tanishaa wants to spend more time with her sister Kajol. It's one of the reasons she's doing up her late dad's Santa Cruz house. PS: She eventually plans to move in there Tanishaa has been redoing her late father Shomu Mukherji's abode at Santa Cruz. For the past few months, Kajol's sister has been dealing with an army of masons and contractors to make the house liveable.

I'm eager to be close to Kajol: Tanishaa

"Hopefully, the work will be done in a few weeks. Though my mom (Tanuja) and I stay in south Mumbai, I'm looking at spending more time here now, " she said. There's also an added reason for her to be in Santa Cruz -- the proximity to Kajol, who stays in Juhu. "I'm eager to be close to her. When the new bundle of joy arrives, I can be there for her. Commuting to and from south Mumbai is time consuming."

Ajay Devgn's sister-in-law is ensuring that all the work is completed before the new addition enters their family. "My cousin, an interior decorator, is handling the renovation. Kajol's also taking an interest." Grotto Villa at Santa Cruz was home to Shomu Mukherji and his brothers Deb and Joy before they moved on to set up their own homes. Says Tanishaa.

"There are a lot of memories attached to the place. My dad was proud of his house and loved to collect stuff for the home. Thought most of it is old and bulky, I'm trying to make it look contemporary." Tanishaa adds, "After dad passed away in 2008, it was lying closed. I used to drop in sometimes whenever I was at this end of town. It was convenient to hold meetings as the industry folk are all at this end of the town." Redoing the house has also been an emotional connect with her dad. "I've got over the loss and the heartbreak. I feel close to him staying in his home."

Aishwarya, Katrina, Kareena or Kajol- Who is the best rain-drenched actress?

If you are a Bollywood buff, you must have watched in awe and amazement, when the sizzling ladies of B-town have stepped out in the rain. So, let’s have a quick recap of the most scintillating rain songs of the current breed of actresses:

1. Aishwarya Rai- In ‘Guru’, she wore a simple sari but those wet looks of hers doubled her beauty as we watched enthralled and captivated watching her play in the waters like a teenager girl gone crazy in enthusiasm.

2. Katrina Kaif- Her film ‘De Dana Dan’ made headlines for.

That orange sari that she draped her delicious body with in the rain, as we helplessly watched an Akshay Kumar caressing her naked back. And, he got paid for doing that. Huh! Some people have got all the luck.

3. Kareena Kapoor- In my opinion. She has never looked as girlish and sweet as she looked with Aamir Khan in ‘3 Idiots’ swinging in the downpour to a ‘Zoobi Doobi’ song taking us back to our very own childhood days.

4. Kajol- One of the most romantic scenes. In Bollywood is that rain dance in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ when a drenched Kajol dances to the tunes of Shahrukh Khan as the ‘King of Romance’ runs his fingers across her shoulders in his trademark style.

Dear folks, who is your favourite rain drenched actress?

My Name Is Khan to be screened at Berlin Film Festival

Bollywood film My Name Is Khan, starring legendary screen pair Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, will be screened at the 60th annual Berlin International Film Festival in February.

The festival, one of the oldest and most prestigious in the world, will run from February 11-21 and will feature the premiere of the Martin Scorsese film, Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

My Name Is Khan will release on February 12th in India and more than 40 other countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Australia.

It will reportedly be the widest international release of a Bollywood film ever. The highly awaited picture reunites Khan and Kajol, who haven’t appeared in a film together since Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001.

The story focuses on racial profiling of Muslims in the U.S. Khan plays a man with Asperger syndrome a form of autism who’s wrongly suspected of being a terrorist. Kajol plays his wife. The film was shot in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Mumbai.

It was directed by famous filmmaker Karan Johar and produced by his company, Dharma Productions. In the past, Khan and Johar have collaborated on some of India’s most internationally successful films, including Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006).

My Name Is Khan was reportedly sold to Fox Star Studios last July for a record Rs. 100 crore ($21 million) the highest price ever paid by a distributor for a Bollywood film. Under the deal, Fox Star Studios a joint venture between American film studio 20th Century Fox and India’s Star Group acquired the worldwide marketing and distribution rights to the film.

It will be released in North America by Fox Searchlight Pictures, a division of 20th Century Fox, which has previously distributed many notable films about Indians, such as Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Water (2005), The Namesake (2006), and Slumdog Millionaire (2008).

In a case of life imitating art, Khan, who is Muslim, was detained and questioned by immigration officials last August at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey while he was en route to an Indian independence celebration in Chicago. The incident made headlines worldwide and outraged many Indians.
