Juhi joins Madhuri's Gulab Gang

After roping in Madhuri Dixit for "Gulab Gang", now filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has cast Juhi Chawla for the film and says it will be great to see them together for the first time on big screen.

"Actually, there were two reasons to cast Juhi Chawla for the film. The very first thing is that it was a creative decision taken by all of us... and we thought it would be great to see two iconic stars - Madhuri and Juhi - together in the film, " Sinha, who is producing the film, told.

"I couldn't have pulled off a better cast than the two most iconic female stars, Madhuri and Juhi, together for the first time on Indian screen, " he added.

Inspired by Sampat Pal-led Gulabi Gang in Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh, which fights for the rights of women in the region, the film will be directed by Soumik Sen. Filming will start in December and the "first schedule will be shot in Bombay", Sinha told.

"We were working on the looks of the actresses, now we are ready to roll. Since the film is based in rural India, both of them will be seen in a de-glam avatar and will have a rustic look, " he added.

Earlier, the plans were to release "Gulab Gang" on Women's Day, but Sinha said that "things got a little delayed and now I feel the film will release after March".

"Gulab Gang" also stars Mahie Gill and Shilpa Shukla.

Juhi replaced by Parineeti Chopra?

Buzz is that Juhi Chawla has been replaced as the face of a snack brand with Parineeti Chopra and Kunal Kapoor

It looks like the owners of a snack brand decided to experiment with their taste buds. After having Juhi Chawla endorse their product over the last few years, buzz is that the company has decided to do away with the senior actress and replace her with not one but five new faces.

A source says, The company has now come up with a new marketing plan and Juhi's image no longer goes with it. Parineeti Chopra and Kunal Kapoor and three other actors have been signed in place of her. An angle of romance will be introduced into the ad. Hence the pairing.
While sources say that Parineeti has been chosen for her young and sprightly image, Kunal's good looks helped him clinch the deal. Apart from the two, the ad will also apparently feature Boman Irani, Farida Jalal and an actor from the South

Why did Juhi accept Main Krishna Hoon?

Actress Juhi Chawla, who will be seen in children's film 'Main Krishna Hoon', says she accepted the movie for the sake of her own kids

'I heard the script, it is very sweet, simple and endearing. Rajivji's (Rajiv S. Ruia) 'My Friend Ganesha 3' had just released and I took my kids for the film,' the 44-year-old said. 'They enjoyed the film. My daughter asked me for a DVD of the film,' said Juhi, the mother of Jhanvi, l1, and Arjun, 9, while unveiling the clothing line of the film.

I realised children really enjoy these kind of films. That's when I decided to do it, she said. Juhi has also sung a song for the film, 'Om Namo Namah. The actress is excited about it.

The song comes with the opening credits. The producer asked me to sing it because it is sort of picturised on me and small children... I enjoyed singing.

The women who sizzled in Yash Chopra's Chiffon Sarees

Whatever the era, the quintessential Yash Chopra heroine remains the same...

Not only did Yash Chopra leave his legendary stamp on every film he made, every costume that his heroine draped also became iconic in its own domain.
Sridevi in Chandni

From the virgin white saree fluttering in the breeze to the tight-fitting churidaars that displayed the leading lady's curves, each and every fashion element that the legendary filmmaker introduced in his films went on to become a rage.
Madhuri Dixit in Dil To Pagal Hai

Interestingly, what Chopra's heroines wore on-screen somehow managed to exude the exact persona they were meant to portray in their films. In Dil To Pagal Hai, Madhuri Dixit's buttercup yellow salwar kameez made her exuberant personality shine through.

Wrapped in her chiffon sarees, Rekha became the quintessential 'other woman' in Bollywood. The Chandni look became synonymous with Sridevi.
Several of Chopra's heroines essayed the bubbly girl-next-door. Naturally, Juhi Chawla showed up in baby pink and sunflower yellow salwars to let her inner child giggle aloud in Darr.
Sadhana in Waqt

In Waqt, the sophisticated Sadhana was given perfectly coiffed hairstyles and elegant jewellery. Clothes too became an essential element of the moviemaking process, helping the director paint the perfect portrait of his heroine.
Rekha in Silsila

And the foremost reason why 'the Yash Chopra look' worked like magic is because of his heroines' extreme professionalism just like their director to work under extreme conditions. The bandwagon of ladies braved the icy cold winds on the snow-capped Alps in very little other than the chiffon saree and their charm.
Preity Zinta in Veer Zaara

Little has changed over the years when it comes to the great director's style of filmmaking. No wonder then that chiffon French or desi will forever stay associated with evergreen romantic Yash Chopra.

Ten things you will never forget about Yash Chopra
Just like some of the most famous dialogues from Yash Chopra's films, here is a list of 10 most unforgettable aspects about the legendary filmmaker and his movies

1 The iconic song Aye meri Zohra jabeen, tujhe maloom nahi, in his directorial venture Waqt released in 1965. The song was picturised on the late Balraj Sahani and Achala Sachdev. The film went on to become a blockbuster and the song a cult hit. Till today the song is played and danced to at all major celebrations.
2 Yash Chopra's films like Deewar, Trishul and Kala Patthar established Amitabh Bachchan as the angry young man in Bollywood.
3 Chopra is known as the founder of films based on the 'lost and found' formula with Waqt, which later on was made famous by Manmohan Desai with many films.
4 He formed Yash-Raj Films with Rajesh Khanna as partner with Daag. The banner remains to be one of the most respected and the biggest in the country till date with many blockbuster films to their credit.
5 Made one of the most controversial films of all time in the form of Silsila, which had the real life triangle love story of Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Jaya Bacchan on screen. The film was released in 1981 and is still much talked about.

6 Chopra will always be remembered for his iconic songs during festivals. Be it a wedding song, a sangeet song or a mehendi track, Yash Chopra's films had all that and more. His Holi song in Silsila is still played during Holi celebrations till this date.
7 He made Lamhe in 1991 with Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, which is said to be his best work till date. The film, as most critics put, was way ahead of time.
8 He played a very big part is establishing Shah Rukh Khan as the superstar with his film Darr and his son Aditya Chopra directed Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, followed by Dil To Pagal Hai.

9 Aditya Chopra, son of Yash Chopra made his directorial debut with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge which is still running is theatres and remains to be the best contemporary romantic film till date.
10 Yash Chopra will always be remembered for introducing the Swiss Alps in his films like Silsila, DDLJ, Chandni, Lamhe, etc. So, synonymous is his love for the country that they have named a train, a railway station and even a lake after his name. Not to forget an entire suite in a hotel.

Did Sonakshi and Juhi fight over a make-up van?

Sources say there was no love lost between Sonakshi Sinha and her co-star Juhi Chawla when the two were forced to share a single make-up van

Bollywood these days are abuzz with stories about how actors and actresses are looking beyond their professional rivalries to forge long-lasting relationships.

However, sometimes few stray cases of tu tu-main main crop up on the sets. Something similar to this happened between Sonakshi Sinha and Juhi Chawla too, while they were shooting on the sets of Ashwani Dheer's upcoming Diwali release.
Cat fight?
Our source from the unit says, It is an age-old saying that two actresses on the same set cannot get along together and that's what happened in the initial Punjab schedule of the film. The point of contention between the two actresses apparently stemmed from the lack of enough vanity vans on the sets.

Two-in-one
The source elaborates, The unit was shooting in a small town, which is a few hours away from Patiala. Since the number of vanity vans was not enough for the many actors on the sets, the production requested people to share their vans with each other.
Making peace
Juhi and Sonakshi apparently had to share one van and even had to sleep in it. However, soon the tension between the two eased and the actresses got along fine from then onwards.

A source from the production confirms the news and says, Yes, the actresses were unhappy and wanted their own personal vans. But since they had no option, they finally agreed to share vans. Eventually, they got along very well.

Lack of innocence in Hindi films worries Juhi

Actress Juhi Chawla says recent Bollywood films had begun to worry her about the lost charm and innocence, but Abhishek Bachchan-starrer clean film "Bol Bachchan" has restored her faith.

"Just watched 'Bol Bachchan' at a movie theatre in Kampala. Had a good laugh! The movie is completely cracked! Ajay Devgn and Abhishek were hilarious. Everyone in the movie was fun," tweeted Juhi.

"And what I liked about it most... it was a clean film! The girls skirts were long... The necklines high... No nonsense unnecessary kissing or sleeping around... Call me old fashioned but I was beginning to get worried about Hindi films.

Wanting to be so much like Hollywood films... losing their charm, originality, innocence," added the 44-year-old, whose popular films include "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak", "Darr" and "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke".
