Lisa Ray excited about post wedding India visit

Lisa Ray is excited about visiting India for the first time after her marriage to management consultant Jason Dehni.

"Leaving for first trip to India as a newlywed. Speaking at the 'Living with Cancer' Symposium in Delhi on Nov 9, offering living proof," Lisa tweeted Monday night.

The Indian-Canadian actress, 40, exchanged vows with Dehni Oct 20 in Napa Valley.

Lisa, who fought multiple myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells, is now leading a healthy life.

She underwent stem cell transplant and was declared cancer-free in 2010.

Ever since then, she has spoken widely about conquering the disease and the magic of stem cell technology.

Exclusive: We're off to Bora Bora for our Honeymoon

It's been quite a long bumpy but finally exhilarating journey to wedded bliss for Lisa Ray. At age 40, on October 20 in a ceremony in the picturesque Napa Valley Lisa Ray became Mrs Jason Dehni. 

Hours after the ceremony Lisa spoke to us as she raced away from civilization for a brief honeymoon. Said the ecstatic bride, We are overjoyed. This wedding exceeded all our expectations. I am overjoyed to be joined with my soulmate Jason.

The wedding celebrations left the lovely Lisa exhausted and exhilarated. 

Said the radiant bride, The wedding went on during the entire weekend. The theme was love. We celebrated the Revival of Love.
Lisa says the wedding was a time to count her blessings. Besides sealing our love and union in front of our beloved friends and family, this weekend in sheer paradise showed how one can bounce back into life after facing tough challenges. Now we the newly-minted couple are off to Bora Bora. Lost to humanity for a while.

Added Lisa's Significant Other Jason Dehni, I feel blessed to have married my soul mate. I am deeply in love with Lisa. It was a magical wedding weekend. We're now en route to Bora Bora for our honeymoon.

Lisa chooses Wendell's gown, Satya Paul saree for her wedding

Indian-Canadian actress Lisa Ray will wear Wendell Rodricks designed gown for her wedding with banking executive Jason Dehni and will later change into a Satya Paul sari.

"My wedding gown is a present from one of my oldest, dearest friend (Rodricks), and is a perfect embodiment of my spirit in fabric and form. After the ceremony, I will change into a gorgeous, custom-designed Satya Paul sari. I don't want to reveal more, but I am blessed, " Ray, a survivor of multiple myeloma, a rare cancer of the bone marrow, told.

The wedding is on Oct 20, and Rodricks said that the couple is leaving from Toronto Thursday for Napa Valley for the wedding. 

The designer will miss the celebration because of his work commitment, but said that the gown that he has designed epitomises dream and romance.

"I fitted her out and did the trials two months ago in my studio in our village Colvale, Goa. Lisa stayed with me for three days during which we ensured a perfect fit, " Rodricks told.

"I do not want to reveal details about the dress except that it is a dreamy, romantic wedding gown that has touched a chord with Lisa. On her wedding day, we want her to be a radiant bride...This dress is very special for me as it is for a brave friend who deserves every happiness in the world, " he added.

Rodricks says he regrets that he won't be there to see her. 
"My big regret is that due to two fashion tours that end only on Nov 3, I cannot be at the wedding in California. But my prayers and soul will be with Lisa, who will be not just a beautiful bride but an inspirational icon that will gladden many hearts...especially Jason's, " he said.

Lisa will wear a Satya Paul off-white georgette sari highlighted with beige and traditional 'gota patti' work blending with shaded sequins on the border.

The sari is teamed-up with a stylish blouse made of net, also embellished with brocade and 'gotta patti' on the back and sleeves. 

Sanjay Kapoor, managing director, Genesis Colors who owns the brand Satya Paul said that Lisa is an icon of femininity, and "has risen above her difficulties with grace. It was natural for the Satya Paul brand to associate with such a strong and beautiful woman."

Lisa Ray wants Deepika and Priyanka Chopra's Hair

Lisa Ray's campaign for celebrities to donate their hair to women who have lost their hair to cancer, would soon bring her to India and Bollywood where Lisa intends to request top notch actresses to part with their tresses for this worthy cause. 

On top of Lisa's list of Bollywood divas with donative hair are Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. 

Lisa explains why. Deepika and Priyanka are two of the popular faces of mainstream Indian cinema. They are beautiful and talented and very of the moment. These days B-wood actresses experiment with their looks for roles, experiment with their hair lengths.

I would love to see them cut and contribute their locks for the cause of creating a real hair wig for a cancer patient. What a statement that would make!
Kalki Kochlin and Konkona Sen-Sharma are the two other actresses on Lisa's lustrous locks' list. From alternative cinema these are the two actresses I admire for their sense of commitment. As Nandita Das, Shabana Azmi and I have at different times cut our hair for on screen roles, I feel these are the actresses right now who would do the same. Konkona has absolutely luscious Bengali locks. 

Lisa assures these divas that their hair would grow back without a care. The thing about hair is it grows back! We really can afford to spare our hair for others. It also gives one a taste of what its like to go through treatment. Can you believe some women won't even seek life-saving treatment due to their fear of losing their hair! We can help break this taboo. 
Having gone through the trauma of losing her hair to cancer Lisa knows the first-hand the trauma of a cancer-stricken woman's loss of self worth after hair loss. 

Often when a family or friend is diagnosed with cancer, an individual will feel helpless to do anything to make the situation better. It can be very frustrating.

But with my 'Beautiful Lengths' campaign, not just an individual but a community can come together to make a very real difference in a woman's life by donating to make real hair wigs. This campaign unlocks the ability to for healthy women to act. 

Interestingly Lisa lost her hair even before cancer. I have lost my hair twice: once was as the character Kalyani when my hair was cut on film for Deepa Mehta's Water and then again as a cancer patient. I understand how women need a boost to their self-esteem during a time of treatment which is challenging emotionally. 
Lisa looks forward to bringing the campaign to India. I would love to see this campaign come to India. I have friends in the entertainment industry here in Canada who are going to join the movement. I'm more interested in motivating young girls to start movements in their communities.

I can think of many Indian actresses who would make a strong statement by contributing their beautiful locks. It just takes 8 inches of hair. My true purpose is to highlight awareness and invite people to care and act. As someone put it so well... not everyone has money to spare, but most have hair!

Lisa Ray to have traditional Indian wedding in California

Actress Lisa Ray, who is all excited about tying the knot with her American fiance Jason Dehni in California, says she is planning her wedding in typical Indian style 

The 40-year-old 'Kasoor' star will marry the management executive on October 20 at Napa Valley and will have the reception in India. 

"I have never been so happy before in my life. I am nervous and at the same time excited as the wedding is approaching. I am shopping a lot in India. It will be a typical Indian style wedding, " Lisa said. 

"My fiance and I have planned my reception in India for my friends here though we haven't decided the venue yet, " she added. Her wedding gown is being designed by Wendell Rodricks with loads of Indian embellishments in it. 

"I was in Goa few days ago for my fitting session with Wendell. He is a dear friend of mine. He told me that he will use some Indian embellishments in it. In my sangeet and mehendi, I will be wearing Indian dresses, " said Lisa, who was in the Capital last night to launch a Swiss watch brand's avant-garde collection. 

The actress said her fiance loves to learn about Indian culture and films and she is thinking of making him watch Vidya Balan's 'The Dirty Picture'. 

"I have been feeding him about Indian culture and films. He loves Indian food. He has watched many Hindi films and the latest one on his list is 'Dev D'. I am going to show him 'The Dirty Picture' next, " she quipped.

Lisa is now cancer-free after she being diagnosed with multiple myeloma three years ago and said she is enjoying the "second chapter" of life. The Toronto-based actress has signed a couple of movies and will also produce two of them.

"I am enjoying this chapter of my life. I have signed a couple of Bollywood films with young directors. Indian cinema is going through an interesting period. I will also be producing two films and hosting a cookery show in Canada, " she said.

Lisa Ray prefers Bombay not Mumbai

Actress Lisa Ray says the flavour of 'Bombay' remains unchanged for her even as the city is now called Mumbai.

"All those on auto-correct: I'm a twelve-year long citizen of the Maximum City pre-Mumbai. Flavour unchanged, it's always Bombay for me, " Lisa tweeted.

The Indo-Canadian actress got engaged to her beau Jason Dehni earlier this year.
