Suniel Shetty bags a role in Salman's next film

Actor has been roped in to play a policeman in Salman Khan's upcoming remake of a Telugu blockbuster

Playing a cop comes easy to Suniel Shetty. After wearing the khaki in Vinashak and Bade Dilwala, he is donning the police costume once again for Salman Khan's upcoming film that is the remake of a Telugu blockbuster.

While Sallu is slated to play a thief, Suniel will essay a cop out to nab him. The storyline will also have both the male protagonists vying for the attention of the same girl (Sonakshi Sinha).

Our source says, Suniel is very apt for this role as he and Salman belong to the same age bracket. Both actors are super fit and can play younger men on the big screen. Shetty remained unavailable for comment.

Suniel Shetty to launch John Abraham's brother

No, not in a film! The actor will be introducing John's brother Alan in his upcoming real estate project

John Abraham's brother Alan is all set to have a different kind of 'launch'. Suniel Shetty will be launching the interior designer in his upcoming real estate project in Lonavala. Shetty's realty company S2 is in the process of developing 21 luxury villas in the hills of Lonavala that have been completely designed by Alan and the actor's father Abraham John.

A source informs, `Alan is now a part of every project that Anna is making. Everything about the project is kept under wraps till December as Anna has big plans of launching Alan and the project.` While currently Shetty is busy with his film commitments, he apparently visits the site every 10 days.
Alan tells us that it was John who introduced him to Shetty. He says, Suniel has an eye for design. The actor was keen on landscape and that's something we are good at. My dad is actively involved and we brainstormed and designed this project together.

Sunil and I have decided to work on other projects as we make a great team. Shetty states, I'm launching Alan as he's like a younger brother to me and he's the next big thing to watch out for.

At 51, he can do action like a 21-year-old. CS spoke to Suniel to find out his fitness secrets and how he plans to celebrate his birthday:

Good habits do work
Early to bed and early to rise. My day starts at 5 am and ends at 10 pm. Good and regular habits are a must for a fit lifestyle.

Diet fundas
I take 5-6 small meals a day, starting with a heavy breakfast that includes oatmeal, dry-fruits and bananas. Then I take fruits at 11 am. Lunch is at 1 pm which is again heavy followed by a snack around 4 pm. While working, I drink juice as fluids are very important for a healthy body. Dinner is usually light.

Sweet tooth
I like to binge on desserts once a week. Milk chocolates, pedas, laddoos, all work for me!

Another year older
I would be spending the day with my family at my farm house. I will be off for three days and just relax.

Let old films release: Suniel Shetty

It seems to have become a norm nowadays for actors to not support the release of their old movies and the producers filing cases against them!

Actor Suniel Shetty feels that there is no harm in releasing old movies. `Every movie has to see light of the day, it's debatable but for me whether a movie is eight years old or 18, I would want to release it as there are many lives attached to it.

There are technicians, cameramen and other staff who suffer if the movie doesn't release.` Sahi baat hai, Anna!

The actor had left from his Altamount Road residence in south Mumbai for the Santa Cruz airport

But the heavy rains worsened the situation forcing Anna to do a U-turn and head home, as he realised there was no way he would have reached the airport on time.

Due to which the makers had to cancel the Ahmedabad promotions of his upcoming film. Phew! Next time Anna might as well spend time in the suburbs to catch his flight on time.

No direction plans for Suniel Shetty

Actor Suniel Shetty, who plays a film director in his next release "Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baki Hai", says he has no plans to go behind the camera in real life, especially after his unsuccessful stint as a producer.

"I didn't become a good, successful producer... and a director, I don't think so, " the 50-year-old actor said here.

"I am doing a lot of things. Direction is a very focused job. He (a director) is not just concerned with the film, but has to handle the actors and even production, background effect, " Suniel said.

"I think it's too complex for me. I enjoy acting and I have signed a lot of films. So I want to continues enjoy acting, " added Suniel, who has produced films like "Khel-No Ordinary Game", "Rakht" and "Bhagam Bhag".

Directed by Rajnish Raj Thakur, "Mere Dost Picture Abhi Baki Hai" also features Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Udita Goswami. It hits theatres July 20.

Meanwhile, Suniel says he would love to do an action film - a genre he is glad is back in vogue.

"Action has given me image, so I would want to do action. The trend had dipped, but now action is back with a bang, " said Suniel, who kicked and punched in films like "Waqt Hamara Hai", "Suraksha" and "Mohra".

Currently he has other films lined up too.

"Two of my films are almost ready - 'Enemmy' is ready, 'Shooter' is ready. There is action in the films but it is linked with the story. They are police films and about their issues, " he added.

Suniel has also been signed on for "Hera Pheri 4."

'Time to do an item number'

`Time to do an item number`
Actor talks about getting overdosed on action and enjoying the comic Rowdy Rathore in a houseful London theatre

He may have been out of Bollywood films for a while now, but Sunil Shetty is quite upbeat about his forthcoming project. Especially, because he gets to play a director. Known to be an out-and-out action hero, the actor says his desire to do something different is what nudged him to sign this film.

You are playing a director in the film...
Yes, I play the role of a director called Amar Joshi. He wants to make a film based on a true story. He owns a video parlour in Benaras but all he wants to do in life is to become a director. This film has romance, humour and pain and I think everyone will connect and relate to it.

Why did you suddenly choose to do a comedy?
Indian cinema is changing and I felt there was an over-dose of action. Hence, I wanted to try something different and that’s why I chose to do comedy.

With films like The Dirty Picture and Paan Singh Tomar, there is wider acceptance among the audience. I loved Akki’s performance in Rowdy Rathore. I saw it in London and it was houseful.

More and more actors are doing item numbers. What about you?
If the script requires me to do one, I will surely do it.

Recently, you have been associated with cricket, hockey and even football...
I’ve always been passionate about sports. My day starts at 5 am and ends at 10 pm. Even my father starts his day with swimming and walking, while my mother does yoga.
