Kangna's her own make-up man

Since Kangna Ranaut's on and off screen looks are often the toast of tinsel town, the actress going de-glam in her next film created quite a flutter

We hear that the filmmakers didn't even require the services of a make-up man or woman on the sets. Director Vikas Bahl was apparently so hell-bent to have Kangs look the way he had envisioned, he refrained from hiring a make-up artiste at all for the project.

A source informs, Kangna, who is known to portray overtly sexy and glamourous looks, has been transformed completely for this film. Her styling and make-up is minimalistic.
Vikas insisted that Kangs, who looks very pretty and vulnerable without make-up, should go natural. The film essays the actress as a simpleton who decides to go solo on her honeymoon after her marriage falls through.

What's common between Kangna and Queen

Fashionista Kangna Ranaut goes back to her roots. Her new film borrows generously from the actress' own past experiences. In Vikas Behl's Queen Kangna has been cast as a dreamer with aspirations that her small-town upbringing cannot accommodate. So what does she do?She sets out on a journey that takes her soaring into her aspirations.

Sounds familiar? Kangna's character in Queen is inspired by her own beginnings in a village in Himachal Pradesh.

Says a source, When the script of Queen was being written it was Kangna's background as the innocent girl from the hills that was in the writer's mind. He built the screenplay around the basic idea of a girl from a small town moving upwards with her dreams and aspirations. Kangna's life was the referemce point.

One hears incidents from Kangna's past experiences have been incorporated into script.
Says a source, The character is quirky whimsical emotional and volatile like Kangna. The line between the real Kangna and her character is so flimsy that Kangna many times ended up borrowing from her experiences to play the role of Queen.

Director Vikas Bahl admits, In Queen audiences will get to see the quintessential Kangna. Under that chic veneer she is a simple girl from the hills who dreamt big and was propelled into the glam-world by her desire to make her parents proud.

Kangna's small-town look in the early part of the film is inspired by Jaya Bhaduri in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Guddi and Rani Mukherjee in Bunty Aur Babli.

What inpires Kangna fashion sense

Actress Kangna Ranaut, whose quirky sense of style in "Tanu Weds Manu" was widely appreciated, says film characters play an important role in inspiring fashion sense among people.

"People tend to follow the characters of the films that become popular. Like I heard the clothes of 'Tanu Weds Manu' became very famous and with many more films. With 'Krrish 3', I think a new fashion trend will start," the 25-year-old said here Wednesday at the unveiling of Harper's Bazaar magazine's India cover, which features her.

Kangna believes it is school-going kids who get more inspired by Bollywood fashion.

"During our school days, we also used to get inspired by Bollywood fashion and used to dress just like in the movies of 1990s. So, I feel that maybe today's school kids are getting inspired by us," she said.

Kangna was last seen in "Tezz" this year. Currently, she is busy shooting for "Shootout At Wadala" and "Krrish 3".

My way or the highway, feels Kangna

Kangna Ranaut apparently planned to walk out of an upcoming gangster film if her demand for a hefty fee was not met

To do or not to do, that is the question - at least, for Kangna Ranaut. The actress may have agreed to be seen as a gun-toting outlaw in writer-director Sai Kabir's upcoming film but at a hefty price. And now speculations are rife that she may not want to do the role at all.

The actress apparently demanded a fat fee for the film that will showcase her in a drastic image makeover. Kangs who has essayed the bold, dark, chic and comic roles features in a never-seen before avatar in this revenge drama that revolves around a female fugitive.

Says a source, After Kangna gave her green signal to the film, she had second thoughts about the remuneration. There has been speculation that she might not do the film after she asked for a major fee hike. Kangs demanded a handful of crores and even considered opting out if her demand was not met.

The film is to be shot in Madhya Pradesh and has Kangs in a raw rustic look.
As reported Guns 'n' Roses (Hitlist, November 8) though there had been buzz about Tabu being considered for the role, it was Kangs who was eventually finalised. The film is co-produced by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Rahul Mittra who are currently shooting for a film with Saif Ali Khan and earlier made Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster together.

A source close to the project however maintains, Kangna is on for the project. She will be attending a music hearing session shortly.

Incidentally the film's writer-director Sai Kabir, who penned the dialogues for Lamhaa and the screenplay for Kismet Konnection, has his debut project Chemistry with Shreyas Talpade, Tanishaa and Soha Ali Khan lying stuck.

Kangna's return gift

Ranaut recently walked as the showstopper for Gavin Miguel who had designed for her first-ever portfolio

Kangna Ranaut seems to be in no hurry to forget the favours she received before she took her first step into Bollywood. Years after Gavin Miguel designed for her first portfolio, which eventually landed her the role in Gangster, the actress agreed to walk the ramp for him as his showstopper.

The actress is known to be a chameleon when it comes to adhering to style trends and was recently voted as the country's best-dressed actress by an entertainment magazine.

Gavin says, I designed a concept gown for her and no one else but Kangna could have carried it off so gracefully.

The designer has also worked with Kangs on her upcoming superhero film. Gavin states, It's always a challenge to design for this know-it-all star.

Ouch! Kangna back in Sanjay Dutt's good books?

With the bitterness between Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta finally coming to an end, the question is what happens to those who took sides in the conflict...

With the change of equations between Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta, it looks like it's sunny times for Kangna Ranaut too. Dutt and Maanayata have apparently patched up with Kangs with the actress being invited to the Dutt household's Mata ki chowky today.

A source informs, It is a known fact that Kangna and the Dutt family had major issues and she was ousted from the Dutt camp. Kangna was extremely close to Maanayata and she even worked in Dutt's first home production Rascals.

The informer adds that it was during the making of the film that the Dutt family fell out with Kangs and she was banned from all the events around their film.
The fact that Kangna also went ahead and signed Gupta's gangster film added fuel to the fight. However all that seems to be a thing of the past and apparently it was Maanayata who invited her to the Mata ki chowky.

Another source says, The fact that Kangs never went around talking ill about the Dutt family has worked in her favour. Kangna chose not to take our calls.

What happens now?

The recent patch-up between Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta left a trail of repercussions in the industry. During the ongoing dispute, some prominent names chose to take sides to appease either Gupta or Dutt. With the ending of this six-year long feud, we take a look at those in Bollywood who could be affected by this major development...
Vivek Oberoi

Vivek chose to be on Sanjay Dutt's side after problems cropped up between Dutt and Gupta. He was keen to have VO as Dawood in his upcoming flick but Oberoi in spite of committing did not sign the film. He went ahead and signed Soham Shah's film with Sanjay Dutt leaving a fuming Gupta behind.
Ekta Kapoor

Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt had joined hands in a co-production deal. However, Ekta walked out of the deal only to go ahead and join hands with Gupta to make the upcoming gangster flick. We wonder what will happen now?
Dharam Oberoi

Dharam Oberoi, also closely related to Sanjay Gupta was the CEO of the filmmaker and Dutt's production company. Once the fall-out took place, Oberoi ditched Gupta and went ahead and joined hands with Dutt. He was also the CEO of Dutt's production house but was recently shown the door by the actor. With No Gupta and no Dutt, we wonder what the future lays in store for him.

Apoorva Lakhia

The director notched the biggest hit for the production house of Sanjay Dutt and Gupta with Shootout At Lokhandwala. However during the making of the film, the two friends drifted apart. Lakhia joined the Dutt camp against Gupta. However now with the rivalry coming to an end, we wonder what his future will be like?
Mahesh Manjrekar

Manjrekar and Dutt were inseparable at one time and did multiple films together. Gupta even gave him an acting break with Kaante. However after the rivalry, Manjrekar went on to make some of his best films in Marathi. He is also acting in Gupta's upcoming film. Could this patch-up put Manjrekar at an uneasy end?

Kangna is the first to arrive at 8 am shift

While shooting in Paris, Kangna Ranaut's punctuality was appreciated by the unit folk. She was among the first few to arrive on the sets even for an 8 am shift.

Looking at her punctual habit most of the unit members tried to come on time. Chalo, at least she has turned over a new leaf.

Or was it because it was an outdoor shoot and the hotel folk would not stop ringing her room phone till she was wide awake with their morning alarm!

Krissh 3: Kangna and Hrithik's Love in Jordan

It looks like Kangna's grievances with the Roshans regarding Kites has been completely washed away. Not only was she treated like a princess all through the making of Krissh 3, we hear she will be shooting a song with Hrithik this week in Jordan.

Says our source, Rakesh Roshan will shoot a love song featuring the other pair (Hrithik and Kangna). Since Kangna plays a mutant it was a tricky situation to pull off in the script.

Choreographer Raju Khan has come up with steps gestures and movements that require immense body control and subtle facial expressions from both the actors. Hrithik and Kangna have been put through rigorous rehearsals for the number which will be shot in Jordan.

While Hrithik's dancing skills need no corroboration, Kangna too is said to be very skilled on her feet.
During the making of Kites when she had to perform a Salsa dance item with Hrithik the actor had raved to this writer, Kangna who was doing these cool steps with me was absolutely smashing. You've to see how well she dances. You won't believe her dance moves. It was ...quite something to watch Kangna dance.

One is sure Kangna's dance steps would be quite something again with Hrithik. That she has won the Roshans' approval is evident from the way producer-director Rakesh Roshan spoke about her.

Says Rakesh Roshan, Kangna is very good in Krissh 3. She has a tough role. Very athletic and energetic. Kangna was swift and confident and very hard-working. Yes, we are shooting a romantic song with her and Hrithik in Jordan from October 6. Raju Khan is choreographing it.

Stranded! Sunny-Kangna starrer denied shooting at New York Airport

The Sunny Deol-Kangna Ranaut starrer I Love New York which was shot entirely in New York is 95 percent complete.

In fact it has been 95 percent complete for the last 1 1/2 years. So what 's stopping the film from pushing to the finishing line?

According to a source close to the project it's money issues involving Sunny Deol's payment and the producers' T Series apparently selling off the satellite rights of the film at a much lower price than what Deol starrers generally fetch, that are the twin issues between Deol and the film's makers.

However the film's producer Bhushan Kumar and the co-director Vinay Sapru vehemently deny that Deol is in any way responsible for the delay.

According to Sapru, the reason the film is held up is the climax.
Says Sapru, We shot the entire film on location in New York. Then we needed to shoot the climax at the FFK international airport. Despite our best efforts we couldn't pull that off. We were told it would he a miracle if we eventually get the green signal to shoot at the NY airport. But we decided to wait for the miracle to happen.

Finally now, the film's makers have given up hope. The airport sequence would have to be fudged. They will now shoot it at the Bangkok airport and pass it off as the JFK airport.

Vinay Sapru is hopeful no one would be able to tell the difference. You see, the topography of New York is a model for every super- metropolis in the world. Bangkok is like a replica of New York, including the airport. So no one would be able to tell the difference.

Kangna falls flat on her face!

Actress injures herself in Paris after trying to perform some cool stunts in the middle of the road

Looks like Kangna needs to brush up on her road safety skills. After trying to show off some of the moves she perfected on the sets of her superhero film opposite Hrithik Roshan, right in the middle of a street in Paris, she fell flat on her face!

The accident has left her elbows and knees injured from the impact. A unit member informs, Kangna was fooling around the sets, showing off kicks learnt for her superhero film.

One crewmember challenged her to do a particular stunt. Though, Kangs wasn't in appropriate costume, she still tried it and fell down in the middle of the road.
Elaborating on the injury she sustained, the source adds, It was a bad fall and there was blood. The director and the crew got worried and called for a doctor. However, Kangna who seemed in pain could not stop laughing at her own foolishness. Then the entire crew started laughing too.

The film's director Vikas Bahl then apparently gave strict instructions to Kangs not to fool around on the sets anymore and she apologised for her childish behaviour and immediately returned to her shoot. Kangna remained unavailable for comment.

Kangna puts her designers in a fix

Creating Kangna Ranaut's de-glam look in her next film posed a serious challenge for her two designers

Kangna Ranaut is known for her quirky fashion sensibilities that keep her stylists constantly on their toes. The actress, who plays a de-glam role in her next film, has apparently put her designers in a fix. The designers have been asked to help Kangs dress down for her new avatar!

Currently in Paris shooting for this project, Kangna plays a simple, young girl from Delhi in the film who doesn't have a sense of style.

Designer duo Rushi Sharma and Manoshi Nath, who were responsible for creating the ultra glam look for the actress in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, had quite an uphill task ahead of them.
Our source adds, In the end, Kangs sat down with the duo and the designers put in many hours of hard work to finalise her wardrobe.

Rushi and Manoshi say, Kangna is a great clotheshorse and is high on the glam-quotient and she looks good in everything. Because of this, it wasn't easy for us to give her a toned-down look. But the inputs from her made our work much easier.

Why is Kangna upset with Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine?

Apparently, Kangna Ranaut is miffed with the buzz that an assault sequence in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Heroine' is based on her life

The promos of Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming Kareena Kapoor starrer are giving sleepless nights to Kangna Ranaut. Guess why?

Apparently, there is a scene in the film where Bebo's boyfriend assaults her. Buzz is that Kangs feels that the film's director Madhur Bhandarkar has recreated the scene from her personal life.

Incidentally, a few years ago, her former boyfriend Aditya Panscholi had assaulted Kangna and the actress had filed a police complaint.
A source informs us, Kangna is extremely close to Madhur and had worked with him in Fashion. However, she never expected that Madhur would recreate a scene from her real life and use it in the film.

Although everyone from Madhur to the production house are not revealing anything about the scene, Kangna has heard that it is indeed the incident from her past life. `

Kangna presently is not in the country and has been busy shooting for Vikas Bahl's film. The source adds that Kangs called up a few people to inquire about the scene. Bhandarkar and the producers remained unavailable for comment.

Kangana Ranaut turns director

Actress Kangana Ranaut has turned director with a short film written in collaboration with an Australian writer and shot in the US

Kangana, 25, who was last seen in Anil Kapoor-starrer 'Tezz', is currently working on the untitled project, which has been shot in Los Angeles with an American cast and crew and deals with a complex subject of human-animal relationship.

"After meeting Hollywood biggies during one of my recent trips to Los Angeles, I decided to helm the project. And things just fell into place," Kangana said in a statement.

The film revolves around a four-year-old boy and a dog. The 'Fashion' star said she had to take many workshops and also delve a bit into child psychology to connect with the kid who plays the main lead in the film.
"It took six months of thorough groundwork. I was advised not to work with kids and animals, but my script demanded it. "Kaden (the boy) is very little. We had to place hidden cameras, play games and pretend to be aliens and trees in order to get him in the frame! But it was fun, he is adorable. The dog was well-trained and not difficult to work with," she added.

The film is in post-production stage and Kangana says she wants to premiere it at an international film festival. "We intend to send the film for international festivals, but as of now, I am concentrating on finishing the editing and visual effects. That's the only thing on my mind before I leave for Paris for my next acting schedule," she said.

The actress, who has no plans of quitting acting, said she enjoys both acting and directing. "I love them both in a unique way... But working with an international cast and crew was an amazing experience."

Kangna-Deepika comparisons hound newcomer Bidita Bag!

Having modeled for many successful brands and campaigns, spunk-chick Bidita Bag, who is all set to make her Bollywood debut this week with the comedy From Sydney With Love, is in a quandary.

The reason: This Bong beauty is continuously being compared to more established heroines namely Kangna Ranaut and Deepika Padukone. In fact, she has been getting a lot of film offers that have gone to Kangna earlier.

`It's amusing how some filmmakers have been thinking of me as some kind of replacement to Kangna Ranaut, ` she happily giggles. `I've been offered at least half-a-dozen movies by makers who say I fit the bill for a 'Kangana-type-of-role' - whatever that means!`

As if this isn't enough, some makers tell Bidita, she looks and even sounds like Deepika Padukone; so much so that if she would dub for Deepika, no one might come to know - another comparison that the debutante has to live with, at least for now.

And while the girl takes these links with a pinch of salt, Bidita does assert that she wishes to `carve a completely original identity` for herself, even if she agrees to a Deepika or Kangna-kind-of-role. Lol. Looking at her performance in the promos of From Sydney With Love, we do believe that the actress is versatile.

For the record, her movie's release will clash with none other than Jism 2; the debut vehicle of international porn sensation Sunny Leone. But Bidita smiles and shrugs it off. `I don't fear Sunny Leone. Apart from my looks and acting capabilities, I have inner beauty, ` she remarks with confidence.

When compared to the mass appeal Sunny's cleavage carries, Bidita reacts, A little bit of concealing is any day more erotic than showing everything, isn't it?

Can Kangna Ranaut take on Madhuri Dixit?

Can Kangna Ranaut take on Madhuri Dixit?
It isn’t going to be easy for Kangna Ranaut to match steps with the nimble-footed Madhuri Dixit in Dedh Ishqiya. Madhuri, we hear, will be doing plenty of dancing for the Ishqiya sequel. And Kangna playing her pyari saheli would have to join in. Director Abhishek Choubey has apparently asked the junior actress to brush up her dancing.

Luckily Madhuri and and Kangna get along like a house on fire. It’s going to be a blast from the past for Madhuri Dixit and Kangna Ranaut in Dedh Ishqiya, the sequel to the successful 2010 black comedy Ishqiya about an uncle-nephew pair, played by Naseruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi, and their adventures when they landed at the doorstep of a wily widow in rural Uttar Pradesh.

The sequel takes the maama-bhanja to Lucknow into a highly cultured Muslim family where the two ladies Madhuri Dixit and Kangna Ranaut, would be romanced by the Uncle and Nephew, respectively.

Director Abhishek Choubey says the idea was to place the Naseer and Arshad characters in a completely different milieu

Says Choubey, “Repetition is death for me. I was against doing a sequel in the first place, because no matter how one looks at it, a sequel is an extension of the first film. But then when I finally decided on doing Dedh Ishqiya I decided to put the characters in a totally different ambience. ”

Choubey this time takes his Ishqiya heroes to Lucknow, and into the near-extinct genre known as the Muslim Social.

Says the director, “I want to revive that old-world Nabobi charm of ornate architecture, the tehzeeb and the adaas that we saw in Muslim Socials like Mere Mehboob, Mere Huzoor, Chaudhvin Ka Chand and Nikaah.

Of course the genre would be contemporized. But the essence of the genre, the flavour of the period, its essence and grace and most important the decadence of that Nabobi culture, would remain. ”

Apparently Madhuri and Kangna would be playing two friends. Madhuri being a natural-born classical dancer would be seen doing a lot of singing and dancing.

Says Choubey, “Music was very important to Ishqiya and so it will remain in Dedh Ishqiya, though this time the songs and music would be very different. Yes, Madhuri would be doing a lot of singing and dancing. ”
