Movie Review: Delhi Safari is strongly recommended

Till date we have witnessed Film maker's making animated feature film with big star's voices on the cartoon character's only in Hollywood. Even here, Jugal Hansraj tried to make an animated feature film called 'Roadside Romeo'. He used voices of saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the film. But that film turned out to be a disaster.

But Nikhil Advani brings a totally different animated feature film called Delhi Safari. the film has a unique and bold message attached to it. It is made with meaningful intentions.

Delhi Safari is about Save Animal Save Forest and So Save the Humanity. The Director Nikhil Advani has given his best attempt to make the child film a worth watch for every age group. The message is very simple "Don't just keep on yelling, Do it".

The film is about 5 Animals. A Bear, A tigress and her son, A monkey and A parrot who decides to fight for their rights. They wanted no disturbance and trouble from human society, no hunting, no tree cutting and destroying forest.

So to convey their voice to humans, They try to take on with the Human System with the support of Alex (Parrot). Alex tells them that our country has a Parliament in Delhi where Ministers solves everyone's problem.

Therefore they decide to go for an unusual journey to parliament and approach Ministers to solve their problem.

The dialogues of the film are just brilliant and meaningful. There are also lots of laughter moments in the film. The screenplay is very strong and tight.

Director Nikhil Advani has developed the story very interestingly. Hats off to the director who could have chose to not-to make an animated film in the world where 'Stars' rule. But yet he went ahead with this unique idea.

After you leave the auditorium, The film will definitely grow on you. Very strongly recommended for every age. These are the films that really needs word of mouth.

After Sridevi, It's Urmila's time to make a Comeback

The still-very gorgeous Sridevi made a grand come back with 'English Vinglish' which was appreciated by the people and the critics. The film is still running very strong. Here lost and forgotten Urmila Matondkar too makes a special kind of come back. She won't be seen on the screen this time, But will be heard. That too on a cartoon character.

Nikhil Advani's Delhi Safari is an animated feature film in which Urmila Matondkar dubbed for a cartoon character. Unlike in Hollywood, Nikhil Advani has made a film this time with animated character's and has used voices of Akshaye Khanna, Urmila Matondkar, Govinda and Boman Irani.

When asked about her real comeback on the screen, Urmila very politely replied "Yes, even I want to make a comeback. But the kind of body of work that I have done earlier I would only want to choose scripts that I have not done before. Let's see when it happens."

I think we have to agree with Urmila here, As she has given Hit's in a row once upon a time. Be it Rangeela, Judaai, Khoobsurat, Satya, Bhoot or women centric Ek Hasina Thi. Her performance has been praised every time by classes and the masses as well.

Urmila started her career as a Child Artist with films like Masoom. She also did films like 'Narsimha' and long-forgotten 'Aa Gale Lag Jaa'. She was re-introduced in a bold avatar by Ram Gopal Verma in 'Rangeela'.

This was her third innings in Bollywood which ended with Himesh Reshammiya's Karzzz. Urmila played the negative role that was originally enacted by Simi Garewal.

Let's hope her fourth inning in Bollywood gives her a mind blowing career just like it did to Sridevi. Urmila and Sridevi worked together in 'Judaai' which was a blockbuster.

I like to be in control of things: Urmila Matondkar

Yet the actress insists she is the easiest person to work with

It's been almost four years since Urmila Matondkar last did a full-fledged Bollywood film. Having portrayed the sexy damsel in most of her films Urmila is at home, doing a feline voiceover for Nikhil Advani's animation film. The actress chats about why she has kept away from Bollywood over the past years and that nothing is permanent. Perhaps not even her absence.

Why don't we see you more often in films? 
With the kind of work I have done, I cannot be doing anything and everything that is offered to me. To keep on doing film after film hasn't been my prerogative ever, so why should I start now? 

This year has seen many comebacks from Bollywood leading ladies.
I have a problem with the word comeback. It is much abused in our industry. No on asks Meryl Streep if she was making a comeback with The Devil Wears Prada or even The Iron Lady...Each to his own, I guess.
Do you feel heroines today are getting more out of their films than before? 
Each era has its pros and cons. Some fantastic films are being made now while some others were made in the earlier days. There were certain characters and looks back then that many actresses today would dare not have attempted.

Is there any difference between Urmila then and Urmila now? 
No way! I am still the easiest person to work with. I never took my star status seriously. There is nothing permanent in this world and the sooner you realise that, the better. I still like to be in control of things.

What was it like giving voice for a leopard? 
She is strong. Since she is the queen of the jungle, she also has to be strong and overpowering.
So are you overpowering in real life as well? 
Nikhil told me that for the leopard's voice, he needed someone who naturally commands respect and is intimidating. I was wondering whether he was complimenting or criticising me!

Delhi Safari full of adorable characters: Urmila

After travelling to international film festivals and being dubbed in Chinese and Russian, animation film "Delhi Safari" is releasing here Oct 19. Actress Urmila Matondkar, who has lent her voice for a leopard in the 3D venture, says the film will be a "mad ride".

Directed by Nikhil Advani, bilingual stereoscopic 3D animation film "Delhi Safari" has voiceovers from Boman Irani, Akshaye Khanna, Govinda and Suniel Shetty.

"I have given my voice for the character Begum, she is a leopard - the movie starts and ends with her. All the characters in the film are adorable. This film will be a mad ride, " the 38-year-old told.

The film has been showcased at the Annecy Film Festival in France and it walked away with the best feature film (theatrical) award at the FICCI FRAMES 2012 this year.

"I am not an expert to comment anything about animation but all I can say is that 'Delhi Safari' has done well abroad and at many film festivals. The film has also been dubbed in Chinese and Russian. The film is in 3D and it takes a long time to make an animation film, " she said adding that she doesn't have much idea about the output from the movie.

Mallika out, Urmila in

The news of Mallika Sherawat quitting reality show Chak Dhoom Dhoom has been made official. She has been replaced by Urmila Matondkar.

A source stated that the channel “tried their best to retain Mallika however, her nakhras kept increasing with the passing of everyday. It reached a point of no return and the makers of the show could not take it anymore.”

Confirming the news Mallika stated “I had developed date issues and spoke to the channel regarding the same. We have parted ways amicably.”

She added “I have shot at a stretch for 15 hours. The next day I had to report for my movie shoot. It was getting very tedious and I didn’t want to harm either of the shoots.”

“In fact, during my Delhi auditions for Chak Dhoom Dhoom, around 15 days ago, I had messaged the channel. It was extremely difficult to manage and the dates were clashing.”

The channel stated that Urmila is an apt replacement as she exactly fits the bill since she is known as the dancing diva.
