Bhansali wants me to look really hot in Ram Leela

Actor Ranveer Singh, who is working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Ram Leela," says the filmmaker wanted him to look extremely hot in the film and that is why he went shirtless for a song.

"We were shooting a song and was supposed to wear a traditional Gujarati kedia (outfit) and in passing, we were doing some trials and I was putting on kedias and taking them off and he was like 'You know what, your body is looking amazing. Now let's just do this song shirtless'," the 27-year-old said here at the unveiling of the cover page of Men's Health magazine featuring him.

"So, he decided just like that and then we did a section of my introduction song absolutely shirtless," he added.

Talking about the brief given to him for the film, Ranveer said: "Mr. Bhansali was very clear that he wanted me to be extremely hot. He said 'Baby, when you come on the screen, I just want girls either to tear your clothes off or their own clothes off'."

Meanwhile, Ranveer would also be seen mouthing Gujarati abuses in the film and he learnt them all in Gujarat.
"I went to Gujarat, I did some research, picked up the Gujarati language. First thing I wanted to learn were the 'gaalies' (abusive words), which are very interesting. I came back in four or five days and I presented it to Mr. Bhansali in a reading and he was like 'This is fabulous, you must go for it'," Ranveer said.

"So, yes I am putting myself out there by infusing my own Gujarati flavour in the dialogues, and I hope it has the same impact it had in 'Band Baja Baaraat'," he added.

"Ram Leela" also stars Deepika Padukone.

For now, Ranveer is now looking forward to the release of "Lootera". Besides this, the shooting of his next, "Gunday" starts Friday.

No biryani for Ranveer

Ranveer sticks to resolve and diet, refuses a feast of biryani on the sets of his upcoming film 'Ram Leela'

To bulk up your a body you need to concentrate 30 per cent on working out and 70 per cent on your diet to get the best results.

Ranveer Singh has been hitting the gym religiously for a new look in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film with Deepika Padukone. He has also been following a strict no salt diet. But it was testing times for Ranveer recently when some yummy biryani was ordered while shooting at Film City in Goregoan.

A unit source says, Ranveer had been dying to eat some normal food. The director had ordered for biryani for the cast and crew. But Ranveer did not touch even a morsel. He did not want to cheat on his diet even once.
Adds the source, So impressed was Bhansali with Ranveer's dedication that he promised him that after the day's shooting got over, he would take him to a restaurant of Ranveer's choice and treat him to the most sumptuous meal ever!

Ranveer Singh considering other career options already

Actor Ranveer Singh may be only two films old in Bollywood but he has already decided he wants to go behind the camera one day.

"Hopefully, I will direct a film some day and I will pay tribute to some of my idols who have been actor-directors," the 27-year-old said at a special screening of "Talaash".

Ranveer made the remark especially in the context of actor Aamir Khan, who is also a producer and turned director with "Taare Zameen Par".

Ram Leela: Deepika gets injured while dancing with Ranveer

Deepika Padukone was left bruised after a few high-octane exuberant dance steps with co-star Ranveer Singh

Apparently, actors getting injured on sets have become a norm in Bollywood and they working despite that has become a trend. Like what Deepika Padukone experienced recently while shooting for a number alongside Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming film.

During the shoot, Dippy met with injuries due to some high-adrenaline steps she performed with Ranveer. At the end of the day, her bruised feet from practising on the rough surface were testament to the ordeal of an avant-garde track. Several shots required close contact between both the leads.

And the actress was left with severe swelling and red gashes since Ranveer sported many heavy accessories and piercings in the film.
Some sequences required Ranveer to hit Deepika's midriff several times - not to mention, swing her around and bang into it as part of the choreography! To add to the pain, the actress was also left with several cuts on her feet by the end of the shoot, says a source close to Bhansali.

However, the actress didn't flinch a bit and continued with her dance routine. She surprised all the crewmembers because she refused to act like a diva,` sums up the source.

What's Cooking? Deepika, Ranveer in each other's company

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh who will be seen in 'Ram Leela' together were spotted again at a Bandra restaurant together

It seems Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have been very much living it up off-screen to prepare for the on-screen chemistry for their film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The two were spotted again at a Bandra fine dining restaurant recently.

Says an onlooker, They were seen enjoying a quiet dinner a few days back at the restaurant, which is often visited by B-Town folk.

Adds the informer, Both were dressed casually and were in animated conversation.
B-Town has been buzzing about how Dippy and Ranveer have been spending time together as part of the role preparations and wondering if something more was brewing on the scene.

Meanwhile, Deepika has also been shooting for her film with Ranbir Kapoor in the nights.

Bollywood's busiest actress Deepika dating Ranveer?

One of the busiest actresses in Bollywood today, Deepika is currently working on three movies simultaneously, one of which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The grapevine on the Deepika and Ranveer dating story started as the actors are spending considerable time for their workshops.

Known to be a perfectionist, Bhansali has set up a workshop to train the lead pair on various techniques that reportedly takes up 15 to 18 hours a day. Under such rigorous training regiment, it would be very difficult for both the actors to have any personal time, let alone spend time dating.

The busy actress could not even take a day off to visit her family for Diwali. Deepika's closest friends have also been complaining about her not being able to spend quality time with them, as the actress has barely taken a break post her last successful outing in Cocktail.
The upcoming film is also written by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and will star Deepika and Ranveer. Shooting for the film began in September and the film's official release date is yet to be announced.

The busy actress will be seen next in Race 2 which releases on January 25th and is also shooting for Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express co -starring Shahrukh Khan, Ayan Mukherjee's Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani with Ranbir Kapoor and Kochadaiyaan with Rajnikanth.

Gujarati twist for Ranveer

Ranveer Singh's dialogues in his upcoming Gujarat-based romance will be peppered with the local language

Even in his debut film Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer Singh's authentic Delhi accent added to the essence of the film. On similar lines, our sources tell us that the actor's dialogues in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, based in Gujarat, will have a smattering of the local language.

In fact, it was Ranveer himself who decided to experiment with his accent to play an authentic Gujarati lover. The actor says, I had to learn quite a lot of Gujarati. I am also in a habit of communicating in Gujarati with my Gujju friends.
While the actor spent some considerable time in Gujarat to research for his film, he made it a point to converse with the local people to improve his accent. Ranveer adds, While simply listening to what they had to say, I quickly learnt the ropes of the language

Our source from the sets also adds that while the dialogues of the film were written in Hindi, Ranveer surprised Bhansali by adding his own touch of Gujarati to it.

Ranveer chaperones Deepika around town

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh who are shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film are also spending a lot of time off the sets together as well.

Apparently Ranveer even chaperones Dippy to her home in central Mumbai after shooting in the far-flung suburbs. Bhansali feels spending time together will help them gel on screen.

If only acting was so easy! Hmmm..

Link up rumours with Anushka and Deepika have really upset me

Ranveer Singh on working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in 'Ram Leela' and being constantly linked to his co-stars

Dressed in a pair of track pants and a jacket, Ranveer Singh is high on adrenaline. The conversation starts with his new film with the actor being at his fluent best. With a short career of two films, he speaks about his share of success, alleged link-ups and upcoming projects.

You are known to go all out to befriend directors. Does networking help get films?
If you are a saleable star with some acting ability, directors will automatically seek you out. No amount of hanging out, meeting at parties, chaaplusi or chakri is going to help. I don't believe in cosying up to get work. I am a bit more intelligent than that! What matters is ultimately your performance. Period!
Your friendships (read Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone) have always made news. Your comment?
What upsets me is that I get such news after the whole world gets it. I don't understand why people don't find it important to consult me before writing a report.

I feel I have a right to give my opinion. Some have really upset me. But I don't take them to heart. Now with some good projects in hand, I hope that people start writing about my work as well (sighs)!

There has been buzz about your rivalry with Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and even Imran Khan.
It is not fair to compare me with Shahid, Imran or Ranbir. These guys are senior to me and have done more films than me.

I think this slotting happened because the pundits saw potential in me post Band Bajaa Baaraat. In this industry, every film is important and you are or broken every Friday. Personally, I am not at all competitive by nature.
How is it like working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali?
He's a perfectionist and likes his actors to prepare well before taking on a role. At the same time, he knows where to draw the line in terms of preparedness. It is not easy to please Sanjay Sir as he has a certain sense of expectation.

Ranveer, Arjun's chemistry dynamite

Even though there have been rumours about actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor not getting along well in the past, the former insists that they gel very well off-screen too.

The actors will be seen together in Ali Abbas Zafar's movie "Gunday".

"I am glad that Arjun and I are doing it together. We have an amazing chemistry otherwise as well. Before I became an actor, whenever we see each other, we could not stop talking. The chemistry between us is absolute dynamite, " Ranveer told.

The actors will play Kolkata-based thugs in "Gunday", being produced by Aditya Chopra. It will go on the floors in December.

Always indebted to Aditya Chopra: Ranveer Singh

Actor Ranveer Singh says had it not been for Aditya Chopra's conviction in him, he wouldn't have been able to reach such heights of popularity.

"Adi (Aditya Chopra) sir is my mentor and at the time he selected me to do 'Band Baaja Baaraat', he had the fortitude to take an unknown face and a guy from nowhere, who was not the best looking guy in the world and give him a lead role in such a fantastic film, " Ranveer told.

"Every one's opinion about me was not positive when he decided to cast me. He had a sole conviction in me. I will always be indebted to him for that. He taught me values and principles of how to go about with your work, " he added.

After "Band Baaja Baaraat", Ranveer also did Yash Raj Films' (YRF) "Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl". Now he is looking forward to Vikramaditya Motwane's "Lootera" and is working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Ram Leela".

First Look: Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor are Gunday

After Sujoy Gosh's "Kahaani", director Ali Abbas Zafar has chosen Kolkata as the backdrop for his film "Gunday", which stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor.

Set in the 1970s and 1980s, the film is about Bikram and Bela who rose from being small time wagon breakers and coal thieves to becoming the biggest and most powerful black marketing mafia-men.

After doing "Band Baaja Baaraat" and "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl", this will be Ranveer's third movie with Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner and the same goes for Arjun, who did "Ishaqzaade" with them and also signed "Aurangzeb".

However, for the first time the two actors are coming together on screen.

The leading lady of the movie is yet to be decided.

Zafar's directorial debut "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" was a hit of 2011.

To be produced by Aditya Chopra under the YRF banner, "Gunday" will go on floors in December.

Earlier, movies like "Yuva" and "Calcutta Mail" were also shot in Kolkata.

Sonakshi has a real woman's body: Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh defends Sonakshi Sinha for her 'generous curves'. Also clears rumours about his apparent closeness with Deepika Padukone

A lot has been written about Sonakshi Sinha's apparent weight issues. While some have called her fat (Vindu Dara Singh recently commented, Sonakshi is a little fat... but it is not her mistake), others have commented on her no lack of curves.

However, Sona's friend and co-star Ranveer Singh has come to her defence, stating, Sonakshi has a real woman's body.

While many in the industry have been taking pot shots at Sona, Ranveer says, I think she's gorgeous. Those who have worked with her know that she's very fit. You can make that out from her dancing and action sequences.
Moreover, I think that her attitude towards her detractors is a cool one. I don't like it when people try and take away from such a fantastic talent on the basis of something as superficial as her weight. Now, that's some compliment for Sonakshi!

On the topic of friendship, Ranveer was recently in the news for being spotted with Deepika Padukone around town. There were also speculations if something could be brewing between the two.

However, the actor lays all rumours to rest and explains, I think knowing your co-actor on a personal level is not a bad thing. I have been meeting Deepika outside of work to acquaint myself with her.

Likewise, I am acquainting myself with the script, the director as well as the technicians of my new film (Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next). A greater comfort level does translate on screen! Well said, then.

Ranveer Singh trashes Salman's Ek Tha Tiger in public

'Band Baaja Baraat' actor pans Salman's latest release saying the film's boring and people who watched it needed a balm for their headaches.

Ranveer Singh may be just two-movies old in the film industry and still not deciphered the code to be successful. But he surely has learnt how to stay in news all the time: By being controversial.

And the youngster whose next film 'Lootera' is set to launch in 2013 seems eager to stir up a hornet's nest.

On August 21st, Ranveer panned Salman Khan's latest blockbuster 'Ek Tha Tiger', saying he liked only the last 15 minutes of the film. He wrote on the micro-blogging site, EK THA TIGER felt absolute bore bt (sic) last 15min was magical. nice stunt nd action @beingsalmankhan pra.
While neither the industry nor Salman's family has responded to the tweets, a Hindi news channel ran a package on the tweet. This seemed to get the 'Band Baaja Baraat' hero excited and he told his over 13 thousand followers on twitter on Tuesday, Guys switch to aajtak channel fast. U will get to know how fake i am.

He seemed to be reveling in the role as he added on twitter, I have criticized 'Ek Tha Tiger' on twitter and a special episode is coming on aaj tak now threatening me. Mai darta nai.

One would be wrong to think that that was the end of the episode, but Ranveer had other ideas. Upping his criticism of 'Ek Tha Tiger', he tweeted, While I was passing through a multiplex people aftr seeing EK THA TIGER was asking for TIGER BAAM.
The fact that many of his fans were enjoying these tweets was evident in their responses. But while clearly entertaining for his fans, its not clear how these tweets would be received by the film industry and more specifically Salman Khan? After all, Salman is known to hold grudges for a long time.

So, for now, one can only wait and watch since the ball is in 'Salman's court.

Sonakshi snowed under artificial snow

Sonakshi Sinha's on-screen love story with Ranveer Singh in Lootera is now complete. Or almost complete. The love story based on an O'Henry short-story was shot entirely in artificial snow, as the real snows of Kashmir proved to be not friendly for shooting purposes at all.

But now, the film's team-- and that includes its reticent director Vikramaditya Motwane --has decided to shoot at least a small portion of the film in real snow. The initial plans of releasing the film by year-end have therefore been dropped, so that one last attempt can be made to catch a portion of the film in real snow in Kashmir in December or January.

Says a source close to the project, It is really a matter of a good omen. You can't make a film about love in the snow without real snow. The entire team thinks it would be inappropriate to make a film about a love story in a snow-scape without real snow.

So although the the shooting is now complete and no one can tell the film has been shot in artificial snow, thanks to the sophisticated snow-producing machine that was imported to do the needful, the film's shooting would still be stalled until at least 10 minutes of the footage is shot in real snow.

Apparently Sonakshi and Ranveer have given their nod to the idea, although Ranveer hurt his back very badly while trying to shoot in the snow the last time.

Interestingly Sanjay Leela Bhansali who shot his snow-fall scenes in Black in artificial snow after it was impossible to shoot in real snow in Simla, has advised his erstwhile assistant Vikramaditya Motwane to avoid real snow.

But Motwane is not listening. Genuine snowfall, or no movie at all.

No love triangle between Arjun-Ranveer

Director Ali Abbas Zafar is ready to roll the camera for his next film starring Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, but says it's not going to be a love triangle.

"It's too early to talk about this film. But yes Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor will be doing this film, and all I can say is that it's not a love triangle," Zafar of "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" fame told.

About the movie's progress, he said: "I have locked the script and I met both of them. Adi (Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films) said both these boys will completely justify the role, so we offered it to them. The film is yet untitled."

The director says they are still in search of the leading lady.

"There will be only one leading lady in my film but nothing has been finalised yet," he added.

The film will go on floors in Mumbai mid-December.

Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor to team up for YRF film

Actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor will team up for Yash Raj Films' next project which will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar

"Yes Ali Abbas Zafar (of 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhann' fame) is directing his next film for YRF which stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. The leading lady has not been finalised," a YRF spokesperson told.

There was a buzz in B-town that Arjun's proximity to Ranveer's alleged girlfriend Anushka Sharma had caused friction between the two budding actors. The film is reportedly about two friends, who fall in love with the same girl.

Ranveer and Arjun started their career in Bollywood with YRF movies 'Band Baaja Baarat' (2010) and 'Ishaqzaade' (2012), respectively. Both the films did well at the box office.

For Ranveer, this untitled film is third with YRF after 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl' (2011). For Arjun also, this is the third film with the production house after 'Aurangzeb' and 'Virus Diwan', both of which are yet to be released.

'Virus Diwan' is produced by Ashish Patil under Aditya Chopra's Y-Films.

Something cooking between Ranveer and Deepika?

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone spotted spending an evening together again. Sources say something could be brewing between the two

After we told you that Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma finally called it quits after an on-off relationship for over three years, it seems that Ranveer has finally found a shoulder to cry on. And it's none other than his Ram Leela co-star Deepika Padukone!

After being spotted at a suburban restaurant sometime previous week, the two were again spotted at Juhu's Chandan cinema watching Ek Tha Tiger. While Ranveer came in with director Shaad Ali, Deepika joined them later. They had come to watch the recently released Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif spy thriller.
A source informs us, Ranveer and Anushka had a bitter break-up around two weeks back. They are no longer on talking terms.

On the other hand, Ranveer met Deepika at the workshop of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela in which they will be paired opposite each other for the first time. They have taken an instant liking for each other. Also, the duo then headed to Shaad's residence for a party and remained there till the wee hours of the morning.

The source adds, While it is clear that Deepika had no hand in the break-up of Ranveer and Anushka, it definitely seems that both Deepika and Ranveer seem to like each other and there is definitely something brewing between them.
Interestingly...

our sources also say that both Ranveer and Shaad were heard criticising the film produced by Yash Raj Studios, despite being products of the same production house. The source says, The two of them were seen shouting and drew a lot of attention while watching the film at Chandan.

In fact, people there were surprised that both Shaad and Ranveer were even hooting at the film in spite of being YRF products themselves. Deepika meanwhile stayed quiet during the entire episode.

Scoop: Ranveer-Anushka call it quits!

Buzz is that Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma have finally parted ways after their three-year long on-off romance

Bollywood's much-talked about couple Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma have called it quits, yet again. The couple had been dating each other on and off for nearly three years. The reason for the break-up is yet unclear.

A source informs us, Although the couple never came out in the open admitting to their relationship, it is a known fact.

They have been seen together on many occasions and have been dating ever since they started working on Band Baaja Baaraat. After that their relationship suffered a minor hiccup when Ranveer was linked to Sonakshi Sinha but they soon got over that phase.
In fact, the couple even went for a long vacation to Paris only recently. The source adds, However something went wrong and Ranveer called off the relationship. He has been openly telling everyone that he is no longer dating Anushka and is single.

A friend of the actor said, It was only last week when the break-up happened. The reason behind their break-up is something that only the two would be able to say. Ranveer has been vocal about it to his friends while Anushka is yet to inform her close aides.  Phew!

Reacting to our story, Anushka said, No comment!

Ranveer says cheers!

The actor is planning to have a blast at his birthday celebrations in Europe

The actor may be having a rather unexciting year but he is planning to make the most of it by spending his birthday in Europe

This year hasn’t particularly gone great guns for Ranveer Singh. And with his birthday tomorrow, looks like the actor has shoved his bad times aside and is concentrating on having a blast to celebrate the day.

Earlier this year, Ranveer met with an accident on the sets of his upcoming film. His last release too didn’t fare well at the box office. After his debut, the hype around the actor seems to be slowly fizzling out. That could be the reason why Ranveer has chosen to spend his birthday with his family away from the Indian shores.

The actor is currently holidaying in Europe with his family and friends. After spending his birthday with family members, he will join his friends on a scheduled road trip across the continent.
