I wore killer heels and yet I wasn't tall enough for Rana: Sameera

Sameera Reddy was in for a shock while filming an item number for a Telugu film opposite Rana Dugabbati

According to an insider she was asked to use not one but two platforms (referred to as apple boxes down South) in order to shoot a scene with the tall actor.

It is generally the other way around where the actors use platforms to match my height. And it's common for me to wear flats while filming a movie. But here I was asked to wear killer heels and yet I wasn't tall enough for Rana says the starlet.

At least Sam was standing tall.

Is Sushma upset with Sameera's new item song?

Sameera Reddy's recent item number in 'Chakravyuh' apparently left a bad taste in older sister Sushma's mouth

Older sisters are often known to keep a check on what their younger siblings are up to. No wonder that after watching younger sister Sameera Reddy's recent item number Kunda khol in Prakash Jha's next film, Sushma was far from happy. Our sources say that Sushma did not approve of the lyrics of the song.
Despite Sam's many efforts to pacify her older sis, Sushma did not yield. Our source points out, Sushma conveyed to Sameera that she didn't like the track at all. Sam tried to talk it out with her but all her efforts were in vain. The sisters had a roaring argument on the issue.
After a couple of days of stony silence between the two, finally the sisters resolved the issue.

Later however, Sushma tried to defend her sister's track by saying, After all, it is an item number. What more can we expect? Lyrics really don't matter these days. I liked Sameera's look and dance. There was no issue.

Sameera chose not to reply to our SMSes.

Sameera: Curvy figure is back

Actress Sameera Reddy is happy with the trend of curvy body types in films today and she credits Vidya Balan and Rani Mukerji for the trend.

"I think it is good because we put so much pressure on ourselves to lose weight. But thank god, Rani Mukerji, Vidya Balan, these actresses are carrying those 'buttery-soft' bodies which are really making the Indian women come back," the 29-year-old told reporters at an event here.

"So, I am very happy that this trend has come back and I am also trying to push that trend with my song," she added.

Sameera has done an item song "Kunda Khol" in "Chakravyuh" and says she did not bother about weight issues for the song.

"Today, just for one song people stick to workouts, diets and do extra preparations. But there is nothing of this sort in this song. I came from Singapore five days before the song was to be shot and went to Bhopal and did it," Sameera said.

Sameera describes item numbers as a prestige tag.

"I think that today even for certain films, song has become so big that it can provide an opening to the film. I don't say that an item number can carry the film, but definitely it can give it an opening," Sameera said who has done an item song in "Aakrosh".

"And those days have gone when an item song tag was considered bad. I think today it has become a prestige tag," she added.

"Chakravyuh" is slated for an Oct 24 release.

Court curbs on release of Chakravyuh's Mehngai song

The Delhi High Court Monday restrained makers of Bollywood movie "Chakravyuh" from releasing the song "Mehngai" after a defamation suit filed by shoe maker Bata objecting to the use of its name in the lyrics.

The complainant said the use of its name in a song on inflation was "offending".

Justice Kailash Gambhir, in an interim order, allowed Bata's plea alleging that a satirical mention of the company's name in the song "Mehngai" was defamatory, and directed that the song will not be released till the plea was decided.

Directed by filmmaker Prakash Jha and produced by Sunil Lulla, "Chakravyuh" is scheduled to be released Oct 24.

Justice Gambhir said: "The defendants (filmmakers), their employees, servants, agents, partners/proprietors, directors...any person or entity acting on their behalf or under their authority are accordingly restrained from releasing, transmitting, distributing...or communicating to the public by any means or technology...audio visual performance of the impugned song 'Mehngai' using the name of the plaintiff (Bata India Ltd) therein till final disposal of the suit."

Bata urged the court to pass a restraint order against the director, producer, writer and producer of the song "Mehngai", the shoe company said the defamatory song has been used by the filmmakers on YouTube to promote the film.

Sameera Reddy, the raunchy, dusky and voluptuous item girl!

She is dusky, she is voluptuous, and she is proud of it. Actress Sameera Reddy, who has performed a racy item number in "Chakravyuh", says she she is happy with the way her career has shaped up.

"I am so proud of my dusky look. I am so proud to have black eyes, black hair and a dusky skin. I am a tall voluptuous girl and I can never be thin, " Sameera told in a confident tone.

She feels her item number in Prakash Jha's film is the sauciest dance number she has ever done. The starlet's raunchy number has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.

The actress, who has appeared in Hindi films like "Race", "No Entry" and "De Dana Dan" apart from southern films too, admits her dusky look helped her bag the song in Prakash Jha's "Chakravyuh".

"When Prakash Jha called me, he said he wants me to do an item song and he can't think of anyone else for it. He basically wanted a very earthy and rustic look for his song. It's a very realistic film and this song was needed in the second half of the film.
"He liked the fact that I am fit. He wanted someone with the dusky skin, " she added.

The 29-year-old is happy she has managed to carve a niche for herself in showbiz without a godfather.

"I always say without any filmy background, I have done whatever I want to do in life. I am happy the way my career has shaped up and there are no regrets. I am glad to be part of southern films as well which are being remade in Hindi. My latest (Tamil) film 'Vettai' is being remade in Hindi, " she said.

"Chakravyuh" has an eclectic cast featuring Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol, Esha Gupta, Manoj Bajpayee, Kabir Bedi and Anjali Patil. It will release Oct 24.

Indians stuck with fair skin, light eyes: Sameera Reddy

Dusky actress Sameera Reddy is upset at the cliched idea of beauty in the country and feels it is time people moved away from the mindset that only people with fair skin and light eyes are beautiful.

"Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and, unfortunately, in India we are pretty much stuck with fair skin, light eyes, straight hair," the 29-year-old said here.

Describing a typical Indian woman, Sameera said: "I think beauty is the actual Indian woman - warm skin, saanvli (dusky), dark eyes and just the Indian woman. Also, little bit not-size-zero, a little jhatak-matak (flashy), that for me is Indian beauty."

Asked which actress, according to her, lights up the big screen, she said: "Madhuri Dixit for me. When she smiles, there is nobody who can match her. Kajol and I think from the newer lot Kareena (Kapoor), she definitely has that X factor."

Sameera was last seen in "Tezz" and will next be seen in a cameo in Prakash Jha's "Chakravyuh".

Bollywood celebrities share their fitness tips

Kangna Ranaut: My fitness secret is my regular and disciplined yoga practice. Though I go to the gym and follow a good diet, it is yoga that helps me stay fit.

It creates strength in the body, provides flexibility and also strengthens the mind. Over the years, I have had.

An erratic schedule of shoots, outdoors etc. In spite of that I find time to do an hour of yoga everyday no matter where I am.

This discipline is the only way to ensure you stay fit. Raima Sen: For me health and happiness go hand in hand!

I’m healthiest at my happiest and vice versa. But I believe that there are some essentials in terms of health that cannot be ignored. For instance, sunshine!

I may not be the proverbial early riser but as and when I can, I try and soak up some Vitamin D. At the risk of sounding cliché.

I think it is also extremely important to drink loads of water throughout the day. It makes sense. To keep away from deep-fried food, carbonated drinks and excess sweets. Finally, fish is what keeps my skin glowing and my hair glossy.

Neha Dhupia:
Fitness is a way of life for me. Working out and excercising not only serves as way of staying fit but also helps you focus on yourself and channelise your thoughts. I don’t stick to just going to the gym, but play a sport, do yoga and swim. We should also try to workout more outdoors because it serves as a break from our indoor city-driven life.

Nandana Sen:
To be truly fit we need to feel good about ourselves — be emotionally, physically, and spiritually healthy! It’s also important to choose a recreational activity you enjoy. I adore bicycle rides and long walks on the beach. If I’m near a pool or lake, I go swimming. If I’m near a mountain, I go hiking. If I’m in a party town, I go dancing! And I feel fitter than ever if I get eight hours of sleep and eight glasses of water.

Sameera Reddy:
I drink loads of water. Every one hour I either have water or a glass of fresh juice. I don’t like too much of work outs in summers but I take a 45-minute walk and start my day with yoga to keep my body fit and mind calm.

Salman Khan:
Don’t starve yourself and don’t over- exercise. Always maintain a balanced diet and make sure you exercise to keep your body fit all the time. An unfit body is the root of all problems. Physical fitness leads to confidence as well as good health.
