Though her mother tongue is Konkani, she has acted in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and has also appeared in Kannada films.
The sweet beauty who we were referring to is none other than our own Genelia D'Souza! Although she made her debut in Filmdom with ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ she chose to be out of Bollywood for a while to concentrate on South Indian films.
Genelia won the ticket to Tamil film industry with the movie ‘Boys’ by ace director Shankar. She made her Telugu debut with ‘Satyam’.
Then she went on to act in films like ‘Happy’, ‘Samba’ and ‘Sye’, which raised her profile as one of the most sort-after actress down south.
She then played the role of Haasini in ‘Bommarillu’ which was one of the biggest hits in her career and earned her wide recognition. It was later remade in Tamil as ‘Santhosh Subramaniam’ in which Genelia played the same character again and the movie became a big hit.
Though she was well set with South movies she never stopped trying her hand in Bollywood. She gave ‘Masti’ and ‘Mere Baap Pehle Aap’ which were a moderate success. Her final breakthrough in Bollywood was through the blockbuster, ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ in which her role has been widely admired for the sweetness, freshness, and new style of acting.
This chirpy girl who first hit the lime-light with a Parker Pen commercial with Amitabh Bachchan is now the brand ambassador of the new Fanta and Cadburys Perk. Her latest release ‘Ready’ was a super hit and now she is busy with her Bollywood projects like ‘It's My Life’, ‘Hook Ya Crook’, ‘Yahoo’ and ‘Life Partner’. Genelia’s positive vibes is considered to be her great plus and her charm allures the teenagers a lot. Surely she is a ball of energy and is born to make men crazy!
