Sush just wouldn't let me go - Asin

Asin's second film London Dreams is all about a rock band. But the vivacious actress admits that she doesn't know a thing about music.

What she knows is that she is not here to make enemies and doesn't want to add to all the gossip around her caught up with the Ghajini girl to talk more about London Dreams.

First of all how are you feeling now? Oh my God! It was just a sinus infection. I was in the hospital for two days as a precaution.

So much has been made of it…It's just ridiculous. London Dreams reunites Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn. What are your memories of watching Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam?

My earliest memories would be Salman Khan's songs in that film. I was in school then. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was a great film. But we shouldn't talk about that because then people will draw parallels.

This one is a completely new film and it's just a co-incidence. That Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are coming together after 10 years. But in school were you a Saman fan or an Ajay fan?

Oh God, can I act as if I don't have a tongue anymore? I guess I had watched more of Salman's work. That's because I loved all his songs. Both actors are perceived to have contrasting working styles. How similar or different was your experience with both?

You know both Salman and Ajay are quite similar. Given their experience, they would hear out what Vipul had to say and effortlessly finish their shots. As personalities they may have opposite images – but their approaches aren't too different. In fact while everyone knows about Salman's fun side, Ajay is the real prankster and extremely chilled out on sets. Both are extremely comfortable with each other and to me they were like friendly seniors. What are you doing with these two grown up men?

It's basically about a band called London Dreams with four boys and one girl. I am the dancer of the group. While they handle the singing and instruments part of it. And you must also be the common love interest… Well, that's what it looks like in the promos. Who do you think gets the girl?

Maybe Salman Khan…he can get even for losing out in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Oh no, poor Salman! I am happy people are guessing. It could also be a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai like surprise cameo by a third person.

Then since it is a Vipul Shah film, you might go to Akshay Kumar. Keep guessing. But to set the record straight, I want to state that it is nothing like Amadeus. Can you be completely honest and say you are happy with the promos? Despite having a hit like Ghajini, your second film is being marketed like an all boys outing...

I knew what I was getting into. The film is about Salman and Ajay. So it is only too dumb or arrogant of me to expect the focus on my role. After Ghajini I was consciously signed a commercial film where the heroine is just there. I am very clear about my portions in the film. This role first went to Priyanka and the Katrina. Did you try and compare what was offered to them?

I have no flashbacks of any kind. I know that when Vipul Shah took over the film, I was the first choice.
There has been lot of negative publicity about your professionalism and attitude. Why do you think it's happening?

You should know better. I would like to know why is everyone after somebody who is just 10-months into the industry? And spends most of her life between home and work. These days I am apprehensive about opening the papers. All this is new to me. Is it so bad down South? Not at all. That is why I am in a state of shock. Why me?

Could it be your rivals? I am very accessible to the media so there is no reason for the press to complain. As for rivals, I have a great rapport with everyone. Amitji, Abhishek and Ash have been very supportive. Sush just hugged me after the awards, refusing to let go. Preity was kind enough to actually welcome me to the industry. I also have a fantastic equation with Deepika, Sonam and Anushka – who are my contemporaries. Have you become a bit more guarded now?

No yaar. I am still the same. I believe in the essential goodness of people and don't judge anyone with preconceived notions. I am a no hassle person and very open to friendships. Earlier I would get very upset, but I have now learnt to live with such thin air. What do you think of this trend of younger heroines working with older heroes?

I think we actresses are extremely lucky. Even in the South I have worked with much older heroes. Sub consciously there is an opportunity to learn so much from an Aamir and Salman. But I am looking forward to working with my contemporaries. You aren't too much into makeovers…I am somebody who lets the director take a final call about my look. I give my inputs but unlike my contemporaries, I am not obsessed about my costumes and body.

Like the plot of London Dreams, do you have any dreams of going as an actress? I am not a dreamer. Actually I am not at all ambitious. As long as people accept me in the work I am doing right now, I am happy.
