The censorboard has cleared Ekta Kapoor’s new sex comdy with an ‘A’ certificate with 8-9 cuts.
Wonder how our Shatrughan Sinha would react to this. But the dog in Kya Super Kool Hain Hum has been rechristened Shatru instead of Fakhru, at the censorboard’s behest. It may seem super-cool to the makers of Kya Super Kool Hain Hum (KSKHH) to name the canine in the film Fakhruddin or Fakhru, which happens to be the name of the former president of India.
The censors disagree.
The Censor Board Of Film Certification (CBFS) has made it explicitly clear that any aspersion or slur or any caste community creed or individual would not be tolerated in the name of humour and comedy.
KSKHH has been ordered to change the canine’s name. The film has also been asked to change some other offensive dialogues before being accorded an ‘Adult’ certificate.
Says the CFBC’s Regional Officer Mumbai J. P. Singh, “They’ve changed the dog’s name from Fakhru to Shatru. Fakhru was not acceptable. ”
Elaborates J P Singh, “We cannot have puns that could offend any community or individual. For example in Kya Super Kool Hain Hum someone enters the venue of a party looks around and quips, ‘Saare Dandekar hain koi Holekar nahin. ’ Sorry, not allowed. Dadekar and Holekar are respected names. ”
KSKHH has also been asked to get rid of the word ‘achhoot’ (untouchable)n being enunciated to sound like ‘a-choot’.
Quips J. P. Singh, “The jokes are of the kind we’ve heard when we were in college. The film is carpeted with puns. We’ve only cut those that hurt any community or people. The word ‘Ram’ has also been. All the cuts are verbal. Visually we’ve blurred alcohol brands, etc. ”
