Irrfan Khan says that the new generation of filmmakers with a vision will put Bollywood on par with Hollywood
"The new generation will do that and they will become more ambitious to capture other markets, the way Hollywood is doing, " Irrfan told when asked what will put Bollywood on the same pedestal as Hollywood.
"When you will have producers with vision who can explore the market, who want to bring in audience from different races, and I don't mean NRI, that time the change will happen. Right now producers are very complacent.
They have market which is enough for them, " he added. The actor was was speaking at a session at the ongoing 12th Osian's Cinefan Film Festival that kicked off here Friday. Recently, Hindi cinema has witnessed scripts like "Delhi Belly" and "Vicky Donor" getting overwhelming response at the box office and the 45-year-old credits audience for the change.
"Audience is looking for fresh subjects and engaging stories. They have evolved. They are watching Hollywood movies and exploring, " he said adding that the Indian viewers are forgiving in nature.
The actor, who is active in both - Bollywood and Hollywood, will be seen in Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider Man" as Rajit Ratha. He says in any role there should be a right combination of length and content.
"Length is sometimes important, but the content is important too. You have to combine both. You cannot do a role, which has a lot of content but just passes by in a second, " Irrfan said.
"I enjoyed working with the director (Webb) and I am happy for the director. He has done something very endearing and happy for the actors, " he added.
