Rahul Bose turns 45


One of the versatile actors of Indian film industry, Rahul Bose, who straddled both the worlds of mainstream and parallel cinema, turned 45 on Friday.

Bose was born in Kolkata in the year 1967. Apart from being an actor, Bose is also a social activist, rugby player and director.

The actor, who was a former member of India's international rugby team, has been vocal about various social causes.

Bose starred in films like 'Mr. and Mrs. Iyer', 'Jhankaar Beats', 'Chameli', '15 Park Avenue', 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects', 'I Am' and others.

The actor also featured in many Bengali films including 'Anuranan', 'Kaalpurush', 'Antaheen' and 'Laptop'.

Best known for art cinema, the actor has been successful in commercial films also. He is one of the few actors of the industry, who performs with equal elan in both art cinema and commercial cinema.

The actor's upcoming projects include 'Winds of Change', 'Ami Charulata', 'Shesher Kobita' and others.

'Winds of Change' is the screen adaptation of Salman Rushdie's novel 'Midnight's Children' directed by Deepa Mehta. 'Ami Charulata' is based on Tagores's 'Nastanirh' (The Broken Nest).

After films like '15 Park Avenue', 'Mr. and Mrs. Iyer' and 'Dil Kabaddi' the actor has been paired opposite Konkona Sen Sharma once again in 'Shesher Kobita'. Directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay, the film is a screen adaptation of Tagore's novel of the same name.

Thanking his friends and followers who wished him, the actor posted in a micro blogging site Twitter: `massive massive thanks to everybody who's wished me. i'm having a small birthday bash tonight. it's on in london. do watch it on television!`
