Salman Khan's latest release 'Ek Tha Tiger' affects the box-office collections of 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi'
The frenzy around Salman Khan's latest release refuses to die down. The film is still attracting the audience even after last week's Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, which had to bear the brunt of the Ek Tha Tiger wave.
Bela Bhansali Sehgal's debut venture managed to bring smiles on the faces of a niche audience, but the good word-of-mouth has not transferred to numbers.
The first day collection of the Boman Irani-Farah Khan starrer was Rs 1.62 crore, second day Rs 1.84 crore and Sunday Rs 2.23 crore making the total Rs 5.69 crore for its opening weekend.
On the other hand, Ek Tha Tiger has now officially become the second highest grosser of all times, after 3 Idiots (Rs 202 crores). The figures are approximately around Rs 158.27 crore after the second weekend.
Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, Shirin Farhad is disappointing at the box office. It is a small film but it did not do too well. The audience is still stuck on Ek Tha Tiger and the wave is very strong. Shirin Farhad is for select audience but the expected business did not happen. It won't make money but has been critically acclaimed.
Trade expert Atul Mohan says, Shirin Farhad is a good film and has its moments. The film will recover its money from satellite and other avenues but it always had limited scope. As far as Ek Tha Tiger is concerned, all I can say is that there is stardom and then there is Salman-dom.
