Court refuses to summon script of Priyanka's film Fashion

A Delhi court has turned down a plea for issuing an order to present the script of filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar's movie 'Fashion' on an author's allegation that the plot of the film was illegally copied from her book.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma Wednesday rejected actress-turned-author Seema Seth's plea but gave her an opportunity to present the script in court through her own efforts.

Seth said in her complaint that presenting in court the "script of the film is essential for proper trial of the case against Bhandarkar and others".

The court June 27 rejected the author's plea for lodging a case against Bhandarkar for copying from her book the plot of his 2008 film. The judge said that she would have to arrange the script of the film on her own as the court could not issue directions to call for the script without being satisfied with the evidence in the case.

The court was hearing Seth's plea alleging that Bhandarkar stole the plot and the idea for "Fashion" from her book "El Dorado", which was published three months before the release of the film Oct 29, 2008. The court fixed Nov 26, as the next date of hearing in the case, and asked Seth to bring the evidence to support her allegation.
