All four Bollywood releases of last week have fallen flat on their faces
While most people already knew the fate of Joker at the box office, the film has proven their anticipation right. Shirish Kunder's film had a terrible opening. The film managed to make only Rs 14.81 crore in its first weekend and has been declared a box office disaster.
On the other hand, three other Hindi releases Jalpari, I Am 24 and From Sydney With Love (Rs 12 lakh weekend) have all failed. Ek Tha Tiger on the other hand has reached the figure of around Rs 175 crore with a weekend of around Rs 6.35 crore.
Trade expert Amod Mehra says, There was no opening. The weekend collections of the film are what it should have been of a single day. It's extremely disappointing and I feel the film should have been released directly on satellite. There is no story, no music and no repeat value. The actor himself had disowned the film.
Atul Mohan, trade guru says, The fate of Joker was sealed a couple of weeks before its release, when the lead actors disowned the project and made their displeasure over the film public.
Also the promotion expenditure by the studio was average and the wisest thing they did was selling the film on cost-to-cost basis to distributors so the loss will be less.
