A die-hard Sunny Deol fan, Vipul Mehta, winner of the "Indian Idol 6" says his future plans includes giving his voice to his idol, singing some big hits and composing music too.
"Sunny Deol is my all time favourite. In fact, he is my childhood hero. I believe he is the real macho man. I used to sing his songs and mimic him as a child. Now I want to meet him and sing songs for him, " Mehta, a Mass Communication graduate, told.
"First, I want to get three-four hit songs and then maybe I will think about composing too, " added the youngster who is returning to his home town Amritsar, Punjab, Monday from Mumbai.
Of course, he is on cloud nine after winning the title, but at the same time he is sad that the show is over.
"I just cannot express in words how happy I am after being crowned as 'Indian Idol', but I am very sad that the show is over. The entire journey was like a dream for me. Every week we used to have singing practice sessions and met Bollywood biggies like Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Hema Malini, Dharmender, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kaporr and many others, " Mehta told over the phone from Mumbai.
The 21-year-old won the tittle Saturday after beating co-contestants Devendra Pal Singh, 17, and Amit Kumar, 20 in the top three.
He took home the winner's trophy, a cash prize of Rs.50 lakh from Sony channel, a Nissan Micra car, a Suzuki Hayate bike, Rs.3 lakh from Max Life Insurance and a contract to record his own music album.
How do you plan to spend the prize money?
"I will give some amount for charity and will definitely buy a car for myself and it has to be a Toyota Fortuner for me. I love cars, " said Mehta who comes from a business family.
He gives the credit of his success to his parents.
"My family saw my love and dedication towards music. They encouraged me and never forced me to join the family business. That is how I have reached till here. Support of your family is very important to achieve your goal, " he said.
Mehta, who started learning classical music at the age of eight, had earlier also participated in singing reality show "Voice of India - Season 2" in 2008, but couldn't make it to the top three.
