I'm shocked, I don't know how to react

Kajol, whose Yash Chopra film 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' completed 17 years of a continuous run just a day before the legend's demise

Yash Chopra's production Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), the directorial debut of his son Aditya, completed 17 years of a continuous run at the Maratha Mandir theatre on Saturday just a day prior to Chopra's passing away on Sunday.

DDLJ, which released on October 20, 1995, was Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan's career high. Playing Simran and Raj, they became Bollywood's most loved on-screen couple and went on do several other films together.

DDLJ also changed the entire scenario for romantic movies. For Kajol obviously there are many memories attached to Chopra and the film.

She says, I am truly shocked. I don't know how to react or what to say. He was a true veteran and an era is over with his passing. He will be missed.
Yash Chopra had organised an event in February 2011, when the film completed 800 weeks of running after theatre owner Manoj Desai had stated that he had no plans to discontinue the screening.

In early 2011, a theatre strike threatened the film's uninterrupted showing. Chopra had contacted theatre owners to try and ensure that the film's run would be unaffected. He wanted DDLJ to go for over 1,000 weeks.
