Anushka Sharma's character in "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" (JTHJ) has been revealed - she plays Akira, a documentary filmmaker, in the movie and sets out to chronicle the life of superstar Shah Rukh Khan's character in it.
Akira is an employee of Discovery Channel, and she wants to make a documentary on army officer Samar, played by Shah Rukh. The movie is the last directorial of late filmmaker Yash Chopra, who passed away earlier this month.
The audience will discover the entire story of the film through Akira's eyes.
"We are honoured to have associated with one of India's foremost film stalwarts - the late Yash Chopra, " Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager - South Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, said in a statement.
A Yash Raj Films (YRF) official is also hopeful this integration will work in favour of both - the movie as well as the channel.
"We wanted to associate with the leading non-fiction channel and we are happy to partner with the world renowned Discovery Channel. We are certain that viewers will enjoy Anushka's refreshing character as a Discovery Channel employee, " said Ashish Patil, vice president, YRF.
The film, said to be a love triangle, also stars Katrina Kaif, and is slated to release this Diwali, Nov 13.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan title song finds space in end credits
The title song of Yash Chopra's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", which could not be shot due to the late filmmaker's death, will now be placed in the end-titles of the movie. It will have visuals capturing moments from the film's shooting.
The song was to be initially shot in Chopra's favourite destination Switzerland, with Katrina Kaif in the trademark chiffon saris. But the shoot remained incomplete as Chopra breathed his last Oct 21.
Now the song will be used. The decision was taken at a flash-meeting held at the Yash Raj Films studio last week, immediately after Chopra's chautha, where Aditya Chopra met up with the film's lyricist Gulzar.
"Gulzar sahab felt that the song shouldn't go to waste since it is not only the title song, but also was very close to Yashji's heart. Although Yashji couldn't shoot the song it was decided that the song would now be used along with the end titles of the film," said a source.
It is also being contemplated that the end-titles would feature visuals showing some takes and moments during the shooting of the film.
"'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' is being packaged as a befitting send-off to Yashji," the source added.
The film features Katrina, Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan, in what appears to be a love triangle. A grand premiere is being planned for the movie, which releases Nov 13.
