After item numbers, Maryam Zakaria has bagged her first Bollywood lead role opposite Aftab Shivdasani
Looks like former item girl Maryam Zakaria's search for a full-fledged Bollywood role has come to an end. Lady Luck has smiled upon the starlet and she is all set to appear in her first Hindi film as an actress.
Maryam, who is known for item songs like Dil mera muft ka in Agent Vinod and Pritam pyare in Rowdy Rathod, has done few Tamil and Telugu films. She will now be seen co-starring Aftab Shivdasani in an upcoming film.
"After watching her earlier work, director Inder Kumar signed Maryam as the main lead opposite Aftab. Though she's from Sweden, she's fluent in Hindi and dubs for her own films, so that's an added advantage," says a source.
The Iranian-Swedish actress - who has moved base to Mumbai to concentrate on her acting career - sounds delighted at the possibility of sharing the big screen with established names. "Yes, I'm playing one of the leads in the sequel to Masti. Naturally, I am super-excited about my role as I will be portraying a seductive teacher," sums up Maryam.
