Big films to watch out for in 2013

While 2012 saw a spate of Bollywood films at the box office crossing the magic mark of Rs 100 crore, here's hoping the new year too will bring its fair share of moolah-rakers

Some of the big banner names that will battle it out at the BO in 2013 are...

Dhoom 3: The third installment of the Dhoom franchise will see Aamir Khan in a negative light for the first time in his career. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who was the writer of the first two installments, the film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif.
Krrish 3: This is the third installment in Hrithik Roshan's Koi...Mil Gaya series, which was followed by Krrish that portrayed India's first very own superhero. The film has Vivek Oberoi and Kangna Ranaut as the baddies.
Chennai Express: This will be Shah Rukh Khan's first with Rohit Shetty, who is great buddies with his bete noire Ajay Devgn.
Radhe: This Salman-starrer will be directed by his brother Sohail Khan, who is making a comeback after nearly eight years. The film is slotted for an Eid release that is considered to be a lucky date for Sallu.
Ram Leela: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film was initially said to star Ranveer Singh and Kareena Kapoor. Bebo however was later replaced by Deepika Padukone.
Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani: Post their break-up this film will be Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika's first film together. Helmed by RK's friend Ayan Mukerji, the film's been in the making for quite a while now.

Me, Sexy? Sexiest Asian man Hrithik is little embarrassed

For the second year in a row, Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has emerged as the 'sexiest Asian man in the world' in an online survey conducted by a London-based weekly

The 38-year-old actor pipped the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Ranbir Kapoor to clinch the top spot.

'The star of 2012 hit 'Agneepath' beat off tough competition from around the world and won by an even bigger margin than last year as he received votes from all over the world from continents that included Asia, Europe, Africa and South America from fans of all ages and different cultures,' the Eastern Eye Newspaper said in a release.
Even though he was the hot favourite and led right from the beginning, the win came as a major surprise to Indian cinema's hottest pin up. 'I am extremely humbled at the decision of the public, also a little embarrassed as I just can't imagine myself as sexy!

I'm actually someone who's just trying to get by with his battered, bruised and broken tools. So a big thank you to all for this dose of encouragement! Thank you Eastern Eye readers for this very sweet recognition,' said Hrithik.

He beat Pakistani singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar who was the surprise runner up. 'Dabangg' hero Salman Khan finished third and last year's runner up Shahid Kapoor came fourth.
Bollywood newcomer Sidharth Malhotra was the highest new entry at fifth place and narrowly beat off popular TV star Kushal Tandon who was sixth.

Shah Rukh joined the list at seventh place and was followed by John Abraham at eight and Ranbir at nine.
Eastern Eye showbiz editor Asjad Nazir, who puts together the very popular list and is chairman of the judging panel, said despite having the best physique, those voting for Hrithik were impressed by a lot of his other qualities.

Five Bollywood stars feature at Madame Tussauds Washington

Incredibly life-like wax figures of five Hindi cinema legends, including megastar Amitabh Bachchan and superstar Shah Rukh Khan, will be on display at Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. through the end of the year as part of a travelling Bollywood exhibit at the famed wax attraction.

Two colourfully dressed dancers in turquoise and shiny gold sequined outfits will sway and swing in synchronous rhythm as they perform a fusion of traditional and modern Indian dances to help launch the new exhibit here Tuesday.

The exhibit features Amitabh, regarded as one of the most influential actors in the history of Indian cinema, Shah Rukh, one of Bollywood's most renowned actors and often referred to as 'King Khan', and Aishwarya Rai, one of the leading contemporary actresses of Indian cinema who was featured in the blockbuster action thriller "Dhoom 2".

Also featured are Hrithik Roshan, acclaimed actor and recipient of numerous best actor awards, and Kareena Kapoor, who is noted for her performances across a range of film genres - from romantic dramas and comedies to independent films and major Bollywood productions.
The dancers, from the Rhythmaya School of Dance, will open the event with a brief performance combining elements of both traditional and modern Indian dance styles, according to a media release.

Hrithik bags YRF and Shekhar Kapur's film Paani

Sources say Hrithik Roshan has finally been confirmed for the filmmaker's project which is to be produced by YRF

After much ado, sources say that Shekhar Kapur has finally handpicked Hrithik Roshan to play lead in his most ambitious project till date. Apparently, the actor has been talking about bagging the project, which was first announced 12 years ago, quite openly at the ongoing Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco.

A source says, `Now that Shekhar has finally found a producer in Aditya Chopra, looks like things are now falling into place. Earlier, the director was often rebuked as to who would want to see a project like Paani!`

The film that will apparently have a budget of $ 30 million is said to star an Indian actor and an overseas heroine.
A source from Morocco says, Hrithik is openly discussing the film with others. He is obviously excited to get the project. Ranbir was also in the buzz as being considered for the role. Guess his packed diary didn't permit him free dates to say yes to Shekhar.

The film that was first announced with Vivek Oberoi in the lead essays a time when the world has gone to war over the scarcity of drinking water. International corporations hold water as leverage to control the human population.

The film tells the story of a financially poor man, who stealthily visits the elite parts of the city where he comes across a beautiful woman and they fall in love.
