Too close for comfort: Celebs on Media's invasion

Two top actresses with two drastically different opinions about dealing with the media. While Katrina Kaif recently wrote an open letter to the media, chiding them about using her pictures while she was on a holiday, Deepika Padukone says, `If I am a public figure and if someone has captured me, I feel I should be more careful.

While certain celebrities argue that over the time, their state of 'private being' is constantly being invaded by the media, others feel that given their glamorous status, they can hardly shy away from the glare of the arclights or the camera bulbs. Being under the constant gaze of the public eye is after all a small price to pay for the glitz and glamour that stardom brings.

Aye
Shah Rukh Khan
I chose this life and when I stand on top of my building and wave, there are many happy faces, which in turn makes me very happy. I want this life and I know I am a public figure. So with good things, there are some others that used to disturb me.

People also wanted to peek inside my house but I would protect my children, my family and my friends as ferociously as I can. But I have accepted all these and on 99.9 per cent occasions, only good things will happen and I don't want to get disturbed by the remaining 0.1 per cent.
Tusshar Kapoor
It is now a part and parcel of the media boom that Hollywood saw many years ago. Now since our film industry is growing and becoming bigger, it had to happen. I think that as an actor, one has to learn to adapt and become more cautious.
Raima Sen
I think all celebrities want their private lives to be kept under wraps. Like for example if I go to a night club with someone, I cannot expect the media not cover it simply because it is a public place. Sometimes public shoot pictures and upload them and it is not always the media we can pin the blame on.
Richa Chaddha
The society is moving towards the tabloid culture of the US. Social networking and microblogging sites have made stars very accessible. And the Internet has given relevance to gossip as news. It's inevitable. I would say let people do their job. Live and let live. Actors are in the public domain but they are not public property.

Nay
Katrina Kaif
I agree the media has the freedom but my point is that there is a difference between roaming in public and being on a holiday in the middle of nowhere. You shouldn't have to be looking over your shoulder. It is just a request for people not to use the picture. Those who feel it is okay to use them, will do so. But at least I know I have done my bit to ask.

Manoj Bajpayee
Media folk will behave the way you want them to. Once you let them peep into your personal life, they will always come in even when you don't want them to. I lead a very boring family life. I go to my shoots, finish them, get my cheque and come home. But I have maintained that I will keep my personal life personal and the media understands that.
Imran Khan
The paparazzi culture is starting to sneak in here and I've always found it strange. I personally have never had anything to hide so I'm perfectly fine with it. But it is not fair to take away someone's personal choice. You should allow a person to follow what they feel is correct. In my case, I was dating Avantika long before I joined the industry. So, there was never a question of who I was seeing. I even announced that I was getting married. I was never uncomfortable talking about. But it is not fair to assume that it is that easy for everyone.
Neetu Chandra
Media has become like a family member who wants to know every possible thing happening in your personal life. They scare me sometimes because the freedom of revelling in love and family is suffocated by them.
Jacqueline Fernandez
I find it unfair taking pleasure and advantage of a person in a vulnerable position. Celebrities are humans too. Why target them for no reason?

In the survey, several fans from the south would like to see Salman's "Dabangg" co-star Sonakshi Sinha as his off-screen life partner too while north Indians won't mind seeing southern actress Asin as his better half in real life.
"Most individuals associate themselves with a celebrity at some point in their life. Through the poll, we wanted to understand how an icon's lifestyle influences people's views and choices during partner search," said Gourav Rakshit, chief operating officer of the match making portal.

Revealed: What's all the fuss between Katrina and her Haidresser Promila

It's rare, though not exceptionally so, for Bollywood stars to stand by their loyal staff members. Akshay Kumar's Man-Friday Nitin has been with him for 20 years. And Salman Khan's bodyguard Sheroo has been a part of the star's inner cirle for 15 years.

Katrina who admits she has learnt the ropes of career management from Akshay and Salman has also been busy cultivating a core group of trusted staffers whom she needs to be around, specially since she has no family member to depend on in Mumbai. Among them is her hairdresser Promila whom the star trusts for much more than just her hair.

Recent reports that Promila had been `sacked` by Katrina had the actress so incensed that she decided to put an end to all speculation on the staff reliability issue. Henceforth Promila gets to do her hair in every film, come what may.
To rewind a bit...Katrina Kaif's long-standing hairdresser Promila Hunter is part of her core group of trusted staffers. When recent reports, prompted by Promila's absence from the team associated with Dhoom 3, suggested that Promila has been sacked the actress was deeply wounded and angry.

Vowing to never allow her staff to be a victim of dismissive gossip Katrina has now decided to ensure that Promila does her hair in every film. This, one hears, would be stipulated in Katrina's contracts-much to to relief joy and gratitude to the veteran hairdresser.

Says a close friend of Katrina, The speculation about Promilaji no longer being a part of Katrina's inner circle started because the hairdresser had been changed in Dhoom 3.

This was taken to mean that Promila was no longer working with Katrina, when in fact a new hairdresser Meera from London had been brought in because Katrina's hair needed a special kind of treatment in Dhoom 3 where during stunts the tresses don't look distressed. They needed a hairdresser who does shampoo and conditioner ads.

Apparently the speculation about her hairdresser's sacking made Katrina see red.
She is not prone to losing her temper. But when reports of Promilaji's dismissal came out Katrina was openly upset. Promilaji has worked with the likes of Rati Agnihotri in the past. That's how senior she is. To read that she has been dismissed, left Katrina very angry,  says the friend.

The actresss has now decided that Promila would be doing her hair for all films. And this would be stated in her contracts.

Says Katrina's friend, In Mumbai there are some people in Katrina's life who are her family away from home. Promilaji is one of them. You don't sack family.

In fact Katrina who made a guest appearance in Promila Hunter's first production has urged the lady to start another production where Katrina would play a major role.

Aamir is Katrina's secret Santa

Aamir Khan requests producers to delay schedule of 'Dhoom 3' so that actress can enjoy Christmas and New Year with her family

They say home's where the hearth is. And on a cold, winter morning, there is nothing like enjoying some warm moments with the family.

And for that, Katrina Kaif has her co-star Aamir Khan to thank for. Buzz is that Aamir stalled the shoot of their film for a week to let Kat take a break and spend Christmas and New Year with her family in their London home.
A source says, Aamir has been in a remarkable mood. In fact, it was during a casual conversation with the rest of the cast that Katrina mentioned her wish to spend Christmas and New Year with her family.

Initially, the unit was to shoot throughout the last week of the year. Aamir requested the production house to delay the shoot so that Kat could take her holiday.
So while the actress is still practising her stunts for the action-thriller, the next schedule of the film has been set for February. Bon voyage to Katrina, then!
