Movie Review: There is nothing new in Ajab Gazabb Love

Sometimes there are films that looks promising from the Presentation, Ajab Gazabb Love, unfortunately, lacks the real content.

The story of the film is an inspiration of a super hit telugu film "Seema Tapakai". But here Sanjay Gadhvi decided to make few changes considering the Hindi Viewer's in mind.

Rajveer Grewal (Jackky Bhagnani) is the son of a big businessman and multimillionaire, Yashwardhan Grewal (Darshan jariwala). His father is so rich that he hates even the smell of the poor, and despises anyone who talks about giving money as alms. Rajveer's family too, doesn't mind the opulence they have. 
Coming from this family, he falls in love with Maddy (Nidhi Subbaiah), who thinks the rich become richer by exploiting the poor. In order to make Maddy fall for him, Rajveer starts acting as a poor chap, with a poor family. 

He buys his way out to show Maddy that he helps the poor, and unintentionally becomes their savior of sorts. When Maddy accepts his love, he recruits his family to help him convince her completely. So the rich father becomes a banana seller, rich mother becomes a Blind Woman etc.

The story takes a twist when Maddy's No-Nonsense brother Arjun Rampal (Karan Singh Chauhan) comes into the picture to meet Rajveer's parents. 
Ajab Gazabb Love does have some mind blowing comic events. But they don't seem long lasting. The only strong factor in the film are Performances. Kirron Kher, Jackky Bhagnani and Darshan Jariwala are amazing. 

Nidhi Subbaiah is not a face for a Long Run. Her acting capablity is Flat and Expressionless. She reminds you of Riya Sen. Arjun Rampal is good. And so is Arshad Warsi in a cameo. Jackky Bhagnani tries real hard and succeeds big time. What he needs is a progressive script.
The proceeding of the film is repetitive. There is nothing new in the movie that you have not seen earlier. Huge amount of money have been spent on Erotic Locations and Costumes. Sanjay Gadhvi comes after a long gap, But as a Director he is handicapped by a wrongly developed script. Musically, Only the song 'Boom Boom' is tapping. 

The film is just a one time watch. Especially when there is an over-flow of Films this season.

Nidhi Subbaiah is my best co-star

Actor Jackky Bhagnani, who was launched by his father, veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani, in 'Kal Kissne Dekha', believes it helps being the son of a producer but rues that people do not see the hard work put in into the role

While 'Kal Kissne Dekha' bombed badly at the box office, his subsequent film 'FALTU' was loved by the youth. Jackky is now back with his third film 'Ajab Gazabb Love', produced by his father. 'It is all profit to be his son. 

The only minus point is people take away your hard work from you. Vashu Bhagnani is a big name but then he is my dad. People think that he will do something for his son, ' Jackky told in an interview here.

Incidentally, all three films that Jackky has acted in till date were backed by his father. But he says, 'No it is not like that. At the end of the day, he is a businessman... he is not here to do charity. 

For my first film, he did back me as a father. But who would have been a better candidate for 'FALTU' than me? If you would have taken a star, then it would not have worked out.' Presently, he is looking forward to the release of 'Ajab Gazabb Love', directed by Sanjay Gadhvi of 'Dhoom' fame. 'It is a good thing to work with an established director. As in my two films, I have worked with new directors. 
So to work with an experienced director is a good thing, it helps you a lot in the process of doing the film. Also there is some credibility, ' Jackky said. 

Jackky will be seen opposite south actress Nidhi Subbaiah who is making her debut in Bollywood with this film. 'She is my best co-star, she is fun to work with. She has no tantrums, does no drama, straight to the point, she is just like me, that is why we get along very well, ' he said.

'This is her first Hindi film but she has done seven films down South and is a big name in the Kannada film industry. She knows her job well. As she has worked down South, she is damn punctual and professional, ' he added. 

The film, a romantic-comedy, is set to release this Dusshera (October 24). 'I am nervous, anxious... lot of emotions are going on inside. We all have worked hard. The response to the promos is good, just hope that people would like the film, ' Jackky said.

Ajab Gazabb Love - A Dusshera Release!

Vashu Bhagnani's next Ajab Gazabb Love (AGL) starring Jackky Bhagnani, Nidhi Subbaiah and Arjun Rampal is already making waves with its first music piece, Boom Boom Boom!

Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, the film has a very youth-centric appeal to it. Music to the film is given by ace music director duo Sajid-Wajid, while choreography has been done by Bosco-Caesar!

Produced by Pooja Entertainment and Films Ltd, the movie is based on the lives of two youngsters who're poles apart in their ideology.

Heir to a billion-dollar automobile empire, Rajveer Grewal (Jackky Bhagnani) has it all, a loving family, riches of the world, and a dream job - designing cars. He falls head-over-heels in love with Madhuri (Nidhi Subbaiah), who is a strong advocate of social justice and equality.

To his dismay, Rajveer learns that she 'hates' all rich people and will have nothing to do with a rich boy like himself. In a sweeping stance of romance, Rajveer decides to give it all up and pretend to be the 'poorest of the poor' in order to win her affection and love.

A comedy of errors ensues as Rajveer and his ultra-rich lavish family attempt to play the parts of poor slum-dwellers and in doing so turn into a dysfunctional bunch of over-the-top actors.

As this `riches to rags` story takes one hysterical turn after another, how long will they succeed in keeping up this charade?

Sanjay Gadhvi's dhoom on Ajab Gazabb Love

Sanjay Gadhvi started his career as an Assistant Director during the making of 'Patthar Ke Phool' nearly 20 years ago. With this box-office hit that released in 1991, there was absolutely no looking back. He then made his directorial debut 'Tere Liye' in 2000. And later 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' in 2002.

But it was Yash Raj Film's 'Dhoom' which gave Sanjay Gadhvi the real stand in Bollywood. The film received wide acclaim for its stellar cast and action sequences. Later the sequel, 'Dhoom 2′, turned out to be the highest grosser of 2006 and also won him a nomination as the Best Director at the Filmfare Awards in 2007.

Sanjay also made a thriller 'Kidnap' with Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan in 2008 which failed to make any impressions. Sanjay is now ready to try his luck with a romantic comedy Ajab Gazabb Love being produced by Vashu Bhagnani starring Jackky Bhagnani and newcomer Nidhi Subbaiah.

The film also has Arjun Rampal, Darshan Jariwala and Kirron Kher. The film is an romantic comedy and releases on 24th October worldwide.

Sanjay is very charged up about his foray into comedies. The director claimed Ajab Gazabb Love to be on the lines of Hrishikesh Mukherjee cinema. Ajab Gazabb Love shows how Jackky, a multimillionaire attempts to be poor because Nidhi whom he loves hates rich guys. The 'riches to rags' story takes one hysterical turn after the other.

Get rolling with Ajab Gazabb Love soundtrack

Jackky Bhagnani's last film gave the chart-topping "Party abhi baaki hai", and one hopes his new movie, "Ajab Gazabb Love", will recreate the same magic with its tunes. The soundtrack, composed by Sajid-Wajid, has four original tracks and two remixes. They have got ample support from Kausar Munir, Sukhjit Thandi and Priya Panchal, who have penned the lyrics for the album. 

The soundtrack kicks off with a bang as Mika Singh's rocking voice comes your way in "Boom boom (lip lock)", a peppy number full of catchy beats.

In terms of music, it is not the finest melody from Sajid -Wajid's storehouse, yet it manages to engage due to the cheeky lyrics by Priya Panchal and some good techno beats. Again, Mika's energetic voice just forces the listener to get on the floor and shake a leg on this track. 

It also has a remixed version, which has a bit more beats thrown in here and there, but there's nothing to bowl you over. It's better to stick with the original, though one can sample the remixed version too. 
Slowing down the tempo, "Tu" hits the right romantic note with Mohit Chauhan's soulful vocals. There is a good play of varied musical instruments while not downplaying the singer's voice in any way. The lyrics are quite smooth and Kausar Munir has done a good job by bringing out a dreamy essence.

The sound of piano emerges loud and clear in "Sun soniye", a romantic duet crooned by Mohammed Irfan and Antara Mitra. Their voices blend quite well and elevate the listener's spirit. The use of violin in various intervals is commendable and so are the mesmerising lyrics, penned by Kausar Munir.

There is also a remixed version of this track, but one fails to understand the necessity of turning a blissful soft track into a club number. The composers have done a decent job by transforming it into a racy song with beats, but it fails to move you. 
Rounding up the album is "Nachde Punjabi", an out and out Bhangra track, sung by Dalvinder Singh. There is a good fusion of traditional dhol beats with modern sounds and some authentic Punjabi lyrics by Sukhjit Thandi. 

Overall, the soundtrack of "Ajab Gazabb Love" is satisfactory. But it could have upped its ante had there been one or two more songs. Nonetheless, it has good energy to keep you rolling.

Nidhi finds Arjun jaw dropping gorgeous

Arjun Rampal's on-screen sister Nidhi Subbaiah wanted to be cast as the actor's romantic interest

Nidhi Subbaiah is so smitten by Arjun Rampal that she was hoping to be cast as the actor's love interest in their upcoming film. But the actor rues that she was instead cast as Arjun's sister in the film.

The actress, who admits to drooling over the model-turned-actor's good looks, quips, It's so unfair that I have to play sister to one of the best looking men in Bollywood. Arjun is jaw dropping gorgeous and his personality keeps me in constant awe! If only I wasn't his sister!

No wonder that while sharing screen space with him, Nidhi almost went weak in her knees.
I still remember we were shooting at Mehboob for one of the climax scenes when I noticed the girls of my team rushing into my vanity van while blushing. They screamed together, 'Arjun Rampal is here today' and I couldn't help smiling with excitement.

Speaking about her experiences of working with the actor, Nidhi says, He's the most chilled out actor to work with. He's very down-to-earth and he even helped me with my lines.

Aftter films with Akki and Arjun, newbie Nidhi Subbaiah to croon

Post two Bollywood films, Nidhi Subbaiah is all set to sing for an album by a LA-based label

Looks like Nidhi Subbaiah is not just content with acting alongside Bollywood biggies like Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal. Now, she wants to sing too! Word is that the singer-actress is gearing up to lend her voice to an album being launched by a Los Angeles-based label.

Nidhi, who appeared in several Kannada films before making a move towards B-Town, says she was always into singing and is comfortable with both Western as well as Classical genres. She further revealed that the album will contain semi-classical songs.

“I was approached post an award function in Dubai. Turns out they have seen me perform before and want me to be part of their project. We are currently finalising the details and will get going soon, ” says Nidhi.

The Coorg-born Bollywood newbie apparently also found Rampal “way too good-looking” while shooting in Indore for their forthcoming film.
