Prachi Desai's styling in her upcoming film is inspired by Kate Winslet's look in 'Titanic'

In her B-Town outings so far, Prachi Desai has always played roles of the girl-next-door. But for her next film produced by Vikram Bhatt, she will be seen in a new avatar. As the horror flick will be shot in England and her character is that of belonging to a royal aristocratic family, the makers are seeking inspiration from Kate Winslet's styling in Titanic.

Says a unit source, Her look is said to be very regal and classy according to the film's backdrop. It has an Edwardian-era charm and will be shot in the castles of UK.

The makers feel the Hollywood star's look in the Oscar-winner goes well with her screen persona. She will be seen in gowns with extensive use of lace, sequins and beads. It is like what the yesteryear British aristocrats wore including a hat.
Adds the source, Prachi is particularly excited to have a Western royal look as it will also give her an image makeover. She is looking forward to begin work on the project.

The film is being directed by debutant Tinu Suresh Desai and goes on the floors in March. Meanwhile Prachi also features with Sanjay Dutt in the remake of the South film Saamy.

Chic Prachi Desai bags an international ad deal

Thanks to her upped style quotient, Prachi Desai has inked an endorsement deal with an international apparel label

Prachi Desai has been taking great interest in her style quotient and trying to make a fashion statement while stepping out. 

At B-Town and red carpet events, the actress has been, of late, spotted in designer labels and getting noticed - a far cry from her earlier days as a television actress. It appears that this has paid off, as Prachi will ink an endorsement deal with an international brand.

Says a source, An international apparel label which is soon to make a foray in India is in talks with her to be the face of the brand. They feel she is young and appeals to the teenagers as well, so she fits the bill perfectly.

Adds the source, Her recent appearances not only make her look stylish and chic but young and vibrant. Her personal style has evolved over the years. She is keen to be among those B-Town stars who love to dress up and make style statements.
Prachi who features with Sanjay Dutt in K S Ravikumar's remake of a South film also has a film with John Abraham pending.

Though she has done brand endorsements before for a washing powder with Salman Khan as well as for a beauty care brand, she feels a fashion label in her kitty is something that can really work for her.

Prachi Desai turns 24. Wish her!

Prachi Desai, who turns 24 today, is looking forward to making merry. Though she has not made any plans for her big day, her close pals have lined up a small bash for her

Says a source, For the last few days she has been busy preparing for the shoot of the Hindi version of the Telugu film Saamy in which she stars with Sanjay Dutt. 

She is slated to join the unit soon due to which she has had no time to make any elaborate plans. She was also in hometown Pune for the weekend. So it has been left to her buddies to surprise her. 

The actress also recently returned from the US after a vacation. After taking part as the grand marshal at the Indian Independence Day celebrations in Chicago and New Jersey, she decided to stay on and also visit Atlanta.
Adds the source, She was planning a vacation after the release of Bol Bachchan so she followed her commitments by a holiday. She got back in time for her birthday, as she wanted to spend the day with her family and close friends. 

The past year has been good to her especially Bol Bachchan so there is lots of reason to celebrate before she leaves for Hyderabad for the shoot of the Sanjay Dutt starrer.

Thanedaar Returns with a new ladylove Prachi Desai

Our leading men's leading ladies are becoming progressively misleading. Sanjay Dut who turned 53 this month would be romancing the 24-year old Prachi Desai in his new cops film Thanedaar Returns. And to ensure that the age difference doesn't jar, the script is being modified to justify the gap of 29 years between the hero and heroine.

The last time there was such a yawning gap between the lead pair was when Anil Kapoor played Kareena Kapoor's husband in Bewafaa. And there the age gap was justified by the fact that Kareena was Anil's second wife in the film.

But here with no plausible justification for the age difference except for the fact that Prachi was the only viable choice with dates, the makers of the film have decided to rewrite the original script to explain the age difference.

Says a source close to the project, In the original Tamil film Saamy Vikram and Trishna who are separated by about 10 years, played the lead. Here there's an age difference of almost 30 years between them.
Apparently when the film's team saw the couple together it was decided that the script should be altered in a way that the hero's acutely young romantic interest is justified.

Confirming these developments producer Thanedaar Returns producer T.P. Aggarwal said, Yes, we've justified the age difference between Dutt Saab and Prachi in the remake's script. If you see them together they don't look mismatched in spite of the age- difference.

Prachi Desai seems unperturbed by the age-difference. 

Says the actress, When you see the film you won't complain.Younger girls getting paired with older guys is nothing new in our cinema. My best pairing when I was doing television was with an older guy and the feedback was stupendous. 

The audience loves younger girls being paired with the older man. Even in Rock On and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai my co-stars Farhan Akhtar and Emraan Hashmi were not my age.And that's okay. I am playing a character.

Prachi Desai to romance Sanjay Dutt

The 23-year-old actress is all set to star in an upcoming film with Sanjay Dutt, 30 years her senior

Like Sonakshi Sinha, Prachi Desai also seems to be opting to act with older heroes. After Abhishek Bachchan in Bol Bachchan, it is now Sanjay Dutt for Prachi. The actress has given her nod to co-star with Dutt in the Hindi remake of the Tamil flick Saamy. She begins shooting later this month in Hyderabad.

B-Town is known for older heroes romancing young heroines. Here is one more. Prachi is 23 while Dutt is 53. After Bol Bachchan's success, Prachi is apparently keen to do projects with established stars in lavish productions. 

So their three decades age difference does not matter. In her previous films, she has featured with Farhan Akhtar (Rock On), Tusshar Kapoor (Life Partner) and Emraan Hashmi (Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai) besides Abhishek, who are all in their 30s. Interestingly even in her small screen debut Kasamh Se, the soap's track had her paired with an older man essayed by Ram Kapoor.
When asked about the pairing, the film's producer T P Aggarwal says, Prachi might come across as someone extremely young to be paired with Sanjay Dutt. But we wanted a girl who did not have the oomph factor in her. We wanted someone who could carry off the girl-next-door image well and who could be better than Prachi? She fitted the character just right.

The film is directed by K S Ravikumar and marks the Tamil director's Bollywood debut. Ravikumar had earlier directed the Kamal Haasan starrer Dasavathaaram.

As reported 'Cool cop'. Sanjay essays the character of a roughneck cop in the film. The original Saamy which released in 2003 starred Vikram and Trisha.

Almost four years after being in B-Town, Prachi Desai finally finds herself in a happy phase. She considers her recent release Bol Bachchan as her big ticket. She is now weighing her options carefully before she makes her next move as we ask her...

Do you view your current phase as a transition to bigger projects? Will the audience see you in new light in more leading roles?
Frankly, the audience doesn't care how much money you have spent on the film. If a film appeals to them they will watch it even if it's a low-budget project. They will reject a film no matter how much you've spent on it if it doesn't appeal to them. My choices have never been based on one single aspect. I want to do good films, that's all!

Don't you want to shed the sweet roles image?
How can someone throw away their USP? But at the same time I don't want to get typecast. So I have been careful about my choices of roles. In Bol Bachchan, I was not just a dessert for people with a sweet tooth. 

I played a feisty girl with a mind of her own, throwing a tantrum every now and then, taking off on Abhishek (Bachchan) and his gang in some scenes and then being an eye candy as well. So I'm doing roles that are not expected of me.
How do you view Bol Bachchan's success trail?
I am one lucky girl! On a serious note the team was always positive and confident about the film, but the final verdict was awaited from the audience so we were all just hoping for the best. I am absolutely thrilled with the response.

Do you think you have broken the jinx that most TV stars don't make it big in Bollywood?
I think I have. The mere fact that I have proved I am not just a one film wonder is enough for a statement. I am glad I have played roles so diverse from each other and proved my versatility. 

I never imagined someday I would be able to boast of films like Rock On, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai and Bol Bachchan in my kitty.

On working with Abhishek Bachchan...
AB is the the most super fun co-star to have. In his company you will always be in splits. He has a different sense of humour. His energy level is hard to match. He's proved time and again that he's a great actor. I am going to miss his madness and I hope to work with him again soon.
What is happening to your film with John Abraham?
I was busy with Bol Bachchan while John had been shooting out of the country. So we'll shoot the remaining portions soon. It's a super exciting role for me. But our producers will be the best people to answer that.

The one question that can't escape... are you in touch with mentor Ekta Kapoor?
Keep guessing! Ha ha. Yes absolutely I am.

Anushka replaces Prachi

Actress Anushka Sharma has replaced Prachi Desai as the face of SOFY, a brand of sanitary napkins from Japan-based FMCG company Unicharm.

Anushka has been roped in for her "bubbly and vivacious personality and portrayal of strong characters" in movies like "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", "Band Baaja Baaraat" and "Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl".

The 24-year-old is excited about her association.

"I'm keen to create a new era where all Indian women will take pride in being a woman," Anushka said in a statement.

She has shot a television commercial for the brand, and says: "I wish to convey to every girl out there that she should no longer be worried about staining."

"Also through this association, I would like to introduce to them a product which is revolutionary in its own way and brings to the consumer an extension of comfort that helps them lead an active life," she added.

Prachi was named the brand ambassador for SOFY in July 2011.

Movie Review: Bol Bachchan falls short of expectations

Cast: Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Prachi Desai, Krushna Abhishek, Archana Puran Singh, Asrani, Neeraj Vora

Rating: **1/2

Amid a flurry of speculations and apprehensions about its being an eligible entrant for 100 Cr club of cine flicks. Finally Rohit Shetty's Bol Bachchan strikes the celluloid this Friday. The movie featuring Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Prachi Desai and reportedly inspired from cult classic Golmaal opened with an occupancy of around 50 % at the multiplexes. 

Synopsis: 
Bol Bachchan is a story about a humble guy who after loosing all his hope of survival in a metropolitan city, migrates to a small village and has a rendezvous with the the manoeuvre of destiny, which lands him in a situation where he conceal his one lie from his master by draping it in the cloak of other lie, leading to hilarious circumstances. 

Story:
Abaas (Abhishek) and Sania (Asin) after loosing their parents patronage struggles very hard to make the both ends meet. Viewing the drowning financial conditions of Abbas one of his well wishers, Shastri [Asrani] advises Abbas to migrate to his native village in Ranakpur, and also ensures him about getting him job at native landlord Prithviraj Raghuvanshi's (Ajay Devgn) place. 

As soon as the Abbas arrives at Ranakpur along with his sister Sania, destiny opens its Pandora's box for him, where Abbas accidentally falls prey to an indistinct situation which makes him lie about his identity in front of villagers and especially Prithviraj Raghuvanshi who has a disdain for lie. 

This suddenly erupted situation brings an important twist in Abbas's life, who is hired by Raghuvanshi as as a supervisor, but as the frames proceed, Abbas constantly has tryst with the circumstances where he has to drape his prior lie with a new cloak of lie in front of his lie-hater boss. 

With story rolling ahead Abbas begets his fictitious identical brother, an impersonating mother (Archana Puran Singh) leading to a volley of humorous situation.

Script: 
Post the release of Bol Bachchan, finally the reasons behind Rohit Shetty's obtaining the rights of cult classic Golmaal have become quite conspicuous.

Through out the pre-release period it was constantly said, that Bol Bachchan is inspired from Golmaal but actually it won't be wrong to say that Bol Bachchan is the reincarnation of Amol Palekar's landmark cine flick. 

With majority of sequences and components identical to Golmaal (except the characters) the script of the movie seems quite weak and monotonous. With the constant prevalence of high predictability, curiosity never seemed leading from the front. In nut shell script of Bol Bachchan thoroughly lacks the innovation and novelty.

Dialogues and USP: 
Prior to release Ajay's witty one liners were considered as the USP of the movie but, going by the facts even Ajay's witty one liner's could not succeed in doing any miracle for already crumbling script. As far as dialogues are concerned then their predictability is so high that at times it takes a shape of monotony even for die hard Rohit Shetty fans.

Screenplay and Direction:
After watching the previous cine flicks like Singham, and Golmaal triology of Shetty- Devgn duo, fans may get disappointed by Bol Bachchan because the slow pace of the story in the first half of the movie looked completely contrary to Shetty's signature style of cinematography. 

Camera consistency and cutting edge sequential shifts somehow manage to keep the fan's gaze glued on the screen. As far as direction is concerned, then after delivering a volley of hits and setting up remarkable benchmarks, this time Rohit failed in making people under stand his Bol Bachchan, because in spite of his exceptional dexterity in direction excess dose of drama succeeded in confining the performances of his celluloid sorcerers. 

After slow start in the second half movie takes cine fans for roller coaster ride, but that to for a very short span of time ultimately succumbing to dull climax. 

In addition to it another reason which completely marred the potential of the movie is protagonists constant struggle to mouth the regional dialect and portraying the regional persona. 

Acting: 
As compared to the hype created about the movie the performances delivered in the Bol Bachchan, are also full of surprises where fans will may get dis-hearted, because of the absence of performances they expected from the star cast of the movie. 

In the movie it's only Ajay who somewhat succeeded in meeting the expectations of the fans, by his quick witted one liners, as a typically Rajasthani rajput. 

As Prithviraj Raghuvanshi Ajay once again succeeded in making fans laugh, but the the only thing which impacted his performance a bit is his constant struggle with rajasthani dialect. Abhishek once again tried his level best to please leave fans mesmerised by his acting skills, but completely failed in doing so, from the very first frame, Abhishek constantly struggled to get into the skin of his role but couldn't do it with utmost excellence, leading to the exhibition of a an average performance. 

Being a movie knitted around the male protagonists, movie's female leads Asin and Prachi Desai didn't have much to do, but whatever share of performances they had was quite fare as compared to the other supporting cast. 

On his debut flick Krishna looked clearly confined in his stand-up comedian persona, with no quality punches to offer on the celluloid. In the item song Big- B seemed at his best with leaving no scope for shortcomings.

Music: 
In music department Himesh Reshamia and Ajay-Atul could not offer any thing innovative or soothing, tracks Chalao Na Nain' and the title track filmed on Sr Bachchan and the principal leads are the pick of the lot, but all in all the music and background score of Bol Bachchan fell short of the expectations of cine buffs.

BO Potential:
After so much hype about it Bol Bachchan completely fails in delivering what fans expected from Rohit Shetty. Not negating the the possibilities, Bol Bachchan may pick up on weekend, especially because of the cinematography notions prevailing about Devgn- Shetty duo followed by a steady fall in its BO collection in days ahead. And as far as it's entering in 100 Cr club is concerned then Bol Bachchan is expected to fall short of that too.

Verdict:
To sum up, knitted on the lines of cult classic Golmaal, Bol Bachchan is an average entertainer with an ok quantity of humor and an imposed dose of action. A perfect one time watch to entertain oneself.

'Bol Bachchan' offers loads of humorous, fun

Rib-tickling scenes, funny dialogues and Ajay Devgn's witty one-liners - Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan" offers all this and promises much more entertainment when it hits the screens Friday.

After churning out films like "Golmaal", "Golmaal Returns", "Golmaal 3" and "Singham", once again Shetty's is ready to take audience on another laughter ride with "Bol Bachchan".

Said to be inspired by 1979 movie "Gol Maal", the film has Abhishek Bachchan, Asin Thottumkal, and Prachi Desai in the female leads.

The story revolves around Abbas Ali (Abhishek), a resident of Karol Bagh, New Delhi. He stays there with his sister Sania (Asin) and they are legally fighting to get the title of their ancestral property.

But the odds turn against them and they lose the case. Their well-wisher, Shastri Chacha, advises and convinces them to migrate to his village Ranakpur and assures Abbas that he will get him a job at his owner's place. The owner being none other than the powerful Prithviraj Raghuvanshi (Ajay).

In Ranakpur, while saving a child trapped inside a temple, Abbas breaks open the lock of an ancestral temple. It upsets the villagers and they are up in arm against Abbas, but Prithviraj arrives at the scene and bails Abbas out.

On being asked his name, Abbas's friend comes out with a fake name because he knew that the villagers will be outraged if they will find out that the lock of the temple has been broken by a Muslim guy.

From here starts a series of cover-ups, goof-ups and comic situations where to cover one lie, Abbas pads it up with a bigger lie that he has a twin brother with no moustache. This leads to topsy-turvy journey of a single person acting as two different entities.

"Bol Bachchan" has been co-produced by Dhillin Mehta and Ajay.

Shetty has roped in megastar Amitabh Bachchan for promotional song "Bol Bol Bachchan". In the song, the 69-year-old recreated the iconic song "My name is Anthony Gonsalves" and pops out of a life-sized egg.

We outsiders are not taken seriously in Bollywood: Prachi Desai

Prachi Desai is one of the few outsiders who have managed to make it big in filmdom. But the actress, who hopes to do 25 films in future, says it is not so easy for such people to get first break in Bollywood. 

"I feel that the industry can be unfair sometimes. When you are an outsider, people don't take you seriously. I personally think you need an extreme push for people to promote you and bring you to a certain level," the 23-year-old told.

The young actress, who started her career as the lead in TV show "Kasamh Se", made her Bollywood debut opposite Farhan Akhtar in "Rock On!!". 

She was then seen in "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai", in which she was paired with Emraan Hashmi, and also was in the cast of recently released "Teri Meri Kahaani". 

Her next is Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan". Coming out Friday, the comedy will see her playing Ajay Devgn's sister who is an educated and modern girl. The film also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Asin Thottumkal in major roles.

Prachi says it is important for an actor to be ambitious.

"Every actor has to be ambitious, otherwise you can't survive in the industry. Every small little thing can completely bog you down. I am ambitious, but I am not over-ambitious. I know things that I can do and things that I can't. I am hoping for this year to be a great year," she said. 

As far as future projects are concerned, Prachi has teamed up with John Abraham in debutant director Kapil Sharma's "I Me Aur Mein". 

When asked where she sees herself five years from now, she said: "Five years down the line, I hope that I do at least 25 films. I would love to work with Farhan as a director. He is also one of my favourite directors because of 'Dil Chahta Hai'. I want to work with Rohit Shetty again. I am hoping to do a film with Ajay (Devgn) because I haven't been paired with him."

Prachi wants to be paired with Ajay Devgn

Prachi Desai says Ajay Devgn has an aura about him and she would like to be paired with the actor in a film.

"I have done two films with him (Ajay), but have not been paired with him. In my next film, I would like to be paired with him," she said in an interview.

The 25-year-old worked in Ajay starrer "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai", in which she was paired with Emraan Hashmi, and now she features in the forthcoming comedy "Bol Bachchan", which has the actor in one of the lead roles.

"The first time I met Ajay was on the sets of 'Once Upon A Time...' When Ajay walks in, there is so much silence on the set. His aura and personality is so intimidating but at the same time, as a person, he is so calm. I think, to be around him is so wonderful. I am not scared of him, but there is this respect I have for him which makes me sober down in front of him," she added.

Director Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan" is Prachi's first comedy and it took her a few days to settle down.

"For me, it was a very different set up. The kind of films which I have done are serious...As far as work is concerned, I feel Rohit Shetty is a director with a magic wand," she said.

Shooting was also a different experience for the actress.

"In comedy, you cannot get your timings wrong. Also, people who are saying the lines, are not supposed to think it's funny. They just have to say it like normal lines. You have to have a certain understanding about what tone you have to catch and change it from scene to scene," she said.

Also starring Abhishek Bachchan and Asin Thottumkal, "Bol Bachchan" is releasing July 6.

"I learned a lot from watching Abhishek and Ajay. When Abhishek had these hilarious lines, he just had to keep a straight face and say it. Ajay had to talk wrong English and he did it convincingly. It is the toughest thing to do," the actress added.

Prachi happy to finally play her age

'I, Me Aur Main' is a perfect opportunity for me to change people's perceptions about me," says Prachi Desai who will be seen playing her age in the film. She adds that usually she has been offered roles older than her age.

" It is such a vivacious role. I don't think people have normally seen me like that. The film is a perfect opportunity for me to change people's perceptions about me," she said.

Directed by debutant Kapil Sharma, John will be seen romancing five girls in "I, Me Aur Main". Prachi is one of them.

She said: " 'I, Me Aur Main' is a modern film. I play a girl who is very young. She just comes into John's life and changes everything around him."

The young actress started her career as the lead in TV show "Kasamh Se", feels that the industry had a set perception about her and that nobody wanted to try her for new roles. According to her, she was always offered roles older to her.

"The reason for being offered roles much older than me was because that is the kind of role I had done on television. So, I guess, people wanted to stick to that. Nobody wanted to experiment with me. They just wanted to capitalise with what they had seen me as," said the actress.

The 25-year-old made her big screen debut with "Rock On!" and later featured in "Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai", "Life Partner" and recently released "Teri Meri Kahaani".

Her next is Rohit Shetty's "Bol Bachchan". Releasing July 6, the film, which has Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead roles, is her first comedy and she is excited about it.
