Aashiqui 2 team to shoot non-stop till December

Filmmaker Mohit Suri is in Goa with the cast and crew of "Aashiqui 2" and says he will shoot without any break till December.

"After finishing a few portions in Cape Town, we are presently shooting in Goa. It's a non-stop shoot till December. I believe our next schedule will be in Mumbai," Suri told, adding he was planning to wrap up the film by the end of the year.

"We are planning for an early 2013 release," he said

Produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, "Aashiqui 2" stars Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor.

Contrary to the reports, "Aashiqui 2" is not a sequel to "Aashiqui", clarified Suri and added: "It's a new story. The only similarity is the music and the love story. There are seven to eight songs in the film. It's a musical."

The original "Aashiqui" starring Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It came out in 1990 and was not only a box office success, but all its songs, including "Ek sanam chahiye" and "Nazar ke saamne jigar ke", were chartbusters.

They failed, it suits me

`They failed, it suits me`
Mohit Suri on casting Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor in 'Aashiqui' sequel

When the sequel of the 1990 film Aashiqui was announced, it was assumed that B-Town would be queuing up to be cast in the film.

However, director Mohit Suri decided to opt for a nation-wide online hunt for fresh faces to cast as the protagonists. However, disappointed with the results, Suri decided to rope in Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor for the sequel.
Interestingly, Suri points out that despite being ‘failed actors’, the two suited best for his film.”

Mohit says, “I chose Aditya and Shraddha, both failed actors. Their films may not have worked at the box office, but they are best suited for my film.”

'Aashiqui 2' will be family film, promises Mahesh Bhatt

The romance in "Aashiqui 2" will be "gentler" and the film will have a "U/A or U-certificate", says filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who has of late been churning out erotic and violent dramas.

Directed by Mohit Suri, "Aashiqui 2" features Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor. Scheduled for a Valentine's Day release, the film's shooting will commence from next month.

"I would say he (Suri) would perhaps be making a film which is certainly a U/A or U-certificate film. Because the theme is slightly mature, the romance will be more gentler with palatable scenes unlike 'Murder 2'," Bhatt told.
"There will be people who will be reliving the romantic eras; they will come to check out how 'Aashiqui 2' has shaped up."

Bhatt said Suri was making a product catering to "the constituency that always asks me why do I make only 'Murder 2', 'Jism 2', 'Jannat 2' - erotic films and not the kind of cinema that I used to make earlier like 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi' and types."

The filmmaker, known for serious meaningful cinema high on emotions like "Arth", "Saraansh", "Naam", "Kaash" and "Daddy", says that he was just following the thought process of new breed of filmmakers.

"I did not have this within my fold as I have filmmakers who wanted to venture into this part. Filmmakers decide what they want to make. So, after making 'Raaz 2', 'Murder 2', gory violent films, he (Suri) wants to now go to a completely virgin area of innocent, enduring love that families enjoy. That is the choice that Mohit has made," said the 63-year-old.

Aashiqui 2 talent hunt turns disaster

Mohit Suri was in search of new faces for "Aashiqui 2", but the idea turned out to be a disaster. He not only had to zero in on Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Raj Kapoor for the film, but the project got delayed as well.

"The talent hunt was the reason for the delay. May be I am a little choosy, but the people we were looking from talent hunt, did not match the character, " Suri told.

He admits he hasn't settled for "a big star after that".

"These are the actors who have non successful films behind them, but I believe they will give life to the film. Now I am dying to start the project, and I think we should start next month, " he said.

Producer Mahesh Bhatt also says the idea of a talent hunt was a "disaster".

"After a disastrous talent hunt which we plead guilty of, we discovered that people didn't have the courage to audition. It was a genuine hunt for talent and I have always tried for new talents. We tried, we failed, it was a disaster and we could have managed it better, " he said.

However, he is content with the current casting -- Shraddha, last seen in "Luv Ka The End" and Aditya, who made his Bollywood debut at 53 with 2010 film "Chase".

"We have learnt a lesson. Our intention was to make a film and not to take auditions. So we came back and looked for actors who would suit our characters. They are not stars, but they are people with certain amount of maturity, " added Bhatt, who had helmed 1990 film "Aashiqui", featuring Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal.

However, Suri has maintained "Aashiqui 2" is not a sequel to the movie.
