Zayed gets nostalgic over uncle Feroz's song

Actor Zayed Khan got nostalgic listening to DJ Aqeel's remixed version of "Kya dekhte ho, surat tumhari", which was originally picturised on his uncle, late actor Feroz Khan in 1980.

Zayed was at the launch of Aqeel's new remix album.

"This collaboration, especially of this old song of Feroz chacha's has been so close to our heart. We always used to sing this song as kids. It was such a big success," the 32-year-old said here Friday.

The song featured in the movie "Qurbani".

"I think I was six years old when this film released and that was a special time. So, to revisit that time in a new century and age is great," he added.

Zayed is quite sure that the song is quite going to be a hit with party goers.

"I think there is a new song now on the circuit which will make people groove everytime it is played. I think this going to be new year's hottest song," Zayed said.

Zayed was all praise for Aqeel, who is his brother-in-law. He believes the reason why the celebrity disc jockey is still so popular is because he is still young in his head.

"I just feel Aqeel is very passionate about his work, he is dedicated to his work and the nice thing about Aqeel is that he likes to hang out with young people and he has never grown old in his head. I think that is very good for music. He constantly updates himself.

"Aqeel really has a good sense of what the pulse of the audience is, what they want to hear," Zayed said.

Aqeel, who is married to Zayed's sister and jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali, is famous for his remix songs - "Nahin nahin", "Tu hai wahi" and "Shake it daddy".

Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan announced their production house

Written and directed by their third partner, Sahil Sangha, it will see Cyrus Sahukar, Tisca Chopra, Satyadeep Misra, Pallavi, Vaibhav Talwar and newcomer Auritra Ghosh and Umang in the lead roles.

"With our first production we have put our money where our mouth is. Above all, 'Love, Breakups, Zindagi' is an entertaining look at today's relationships. But it is also absolutely honest about it. It has characters that will imprint themselves on the hearts and minds of all viewers," Sangha told reporters.

Zayed and Dia will also feature in the film. Talking about their new venture, Dia said: "We sincerely believe that film making is first and foremost about honesty. You need to be honest to your characters as actors, and you need to be honest to the story as a director. And we believe that we need to be honest to the audiences, delivering exactly what we promise."

Zayed said that their production house will celebrate all kind of talent from anywhere. "How often have you had a brilliant idea and thought there was no way you could translate that on to the screen? Well, Born Free Entertainment intends to give talented storytellers the opportunity to do exactly that, no matter what genre, no matter what background they come from."

The film will go on floors in March and is slated to hit screens August this year. Salim and Sulaiman Merchant will compose the music, while Javed Akhtar will pen the lyrics.
