Zeenat Aman likes Priyanka Chopra's fashion sense

Yesteryear's beauty icon Zeenat Aman Thursday heaved lavish praise on the dressing sense of former Miss World and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.

Aman, who walked the ramp as the showstopper for Riyaz Gangji collection at the ongoing India Resort Fashion Week (IRFW) this evening, said Chopra has a 'rockstar look'.

I like the way Priyanka Chopra dresses. She has got the rockstar look which she manages to carry off really well,  Aman said while responding to a question on who among the present actresses dress well.

Chopra's recently launched international debut album 'In My City' has become popular worldwide and highly appreciated by everyone.

The veteran actress looked resplendent in a gold and pink ensemble with lots of shimmer and glitter. Titled Shimmering Sands, Riyaz's collection included embroidered sarees, kurtas, linen pants, jackets and more.

Commenting on the designer's collection for whom she has already walked the ramp at Aamby Valley Indian Bridal Week, Aman believes he designs clothes keeping in mind various age groups.

Girls of all ages want to look pretty and Riyaz has models of different age groups walking for him. I started off my career as a model, so I am more than happy to do it here at IRFW. Riyaz is a lovely designer and a nice person. I'm really happy to be here for him,  she said.

Asked about her personal style statement, a pat reply was, I believe that you have to be comfortable with anything you wear. When you are comfortable you can carry off anything. If you are uncomfortable then your mind just keeps wandering all over.

Now set to make a comeback on silver screen, Aman has all praises for the IRFW happening on Candolim beach.

It is such a wonderful event. It gives a big exposure for all the fashion people. It also gives me an opportunity to come to Goa,  she said.

Zeenat Aman to walk the ramp

Yesteryears glamorous actress Zeenat Aman is all set to walk for designer Riyaz Gangji at the India Resort Fashion Week (IRFW), starting Nov 28.

Titled Shimmering Sand, Gangji's collection takes inspiration from Japanese author Yukio Mishima's book "The Sound of Waves". From long flowy gowns and saris for women to jackets and bandhgalas for men, the collection offers something for everyone.

"Zeenat Aman has always been my muse. I believe beach wedding outfits have now become popular across generations and as Zeenat epitomises evergreen beauty, I was very keen on her walking for my show," Gangji told.

The four-day event will take place at Goa's popular Candolim beach this year.

"Garments comprise flowy gowns with tails, saris with sensuous bikini blouses with golden and subdued colour tones minimally embellished with applique work," Gangji told.

Her Men's line consists of Indian wear with a "contemporary twist in forms of pathanis, jackets and bandhgalas" and she has accessorised it with "chappals, sandals and jute bags".

Also, actors Bhoop Yaduvanshi and Madhurima Tuli - lead pair from upcoming movie "Cigarette Ki Tarah" - will walk the ramp for the designer.

"Young talents Bhoop and Madhurima with Zeenat on the ramp will make the show picture perfect considering it offers me a variety of garments to show," said the designer.

Zeenat Aman asks for ban on horse-drawn carriages

Yesteryear's glamour girl Zeenat Aman has written to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) calling for a total ban on horse -drawn carriages within the city.

The 60-year-old has joined hands with animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India to fight for the cause.

While several people enjoy horse-driven carriage rides in the Marine Drive area of the metropolis, Aman wrote: "Both tourists and locals are saddened and appalled by the plight of these horses. These gentle animals are often malnourished, injured and ill yet are forced to haul carriage loads heavier than their bone-thin bodies can bear."

Zeenat's letter has been addressed to BMC commissioner Sitaram Kunte.

"Mumbai has so much to offer, but the pathetic spectacle of horse abuse is the first thing that many tourists see, and it taints their impression of our great city," she further wrote.

Aman joins a growing number of celebrities, including Hema Malini, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and his supermodel wife Jesse Randhawa, who have expressed support for the cause, and asked the government to ban horse-drawn carriages.
