Kat quits on Salman

THE STRONG BUZZ in Bollywood is that Katrina Kaif has had enough of her tumultuous relationship with Salman and called off the relationship for good.

The couple, who has been having issues since last year, post Katrina’s success at the box-office, had taken time-off and decided to be good friends but that didn’t work out for them either.

According to sources Katrina decided to end the relationship because, “she felt suffocated and stifled with him.”

Meanwhile, the break-up hit Salman so hard that he has stopped talking to Katrina completely and she is no longer welcome at the Khan home.

A source close to Salman reveals: “Salman wanted to marry and settle down with her and thought that they could work out their differences.

Naturally, when she called it off he was hurt. There is no contact between them.” The source further reveals.

Salman now feels that Kat used him to pave her way into the industry and now that she’s found success she doesn’t need him anymore.”

“When Salman asked her not to do anymore films with Akshay she didn’t listen. Her fling with John on the sets of New York and signing the Italian Job’s Hindi version opposite Abhishek made things worse.”

The source further adds, “More recently at an IPL auction where Salman wanted to buy an IPL team, Katrina turned up to support his rivals.” Furthermore, Katrina’s rumoured affair with Ranbir also disturbed Salman. “Salman has always been fond of Ranbir and is close to the entire Kapoor family. When he heard of Kat flirting with Ranbir he was very upset.”

But Katrina’s friend has another story to say. “This is the best time of her career and she wants to focus on it. Salman has always dictated things to her and she doesn’t want to take it anymore. She feels she is more compatible with Ranbir because he’s closer to her age.” Looks like Katrina feels its time to leave Salman’s cage and spread her wings.

Katrina to done desi look in next

Tees Maar Khan has just wrapped up its first schedule and director Farah Khan is ecstatic. “In just a month’s time, we’ve wrapped up 50 per cent of the film,” she says.

“It’s amazing how much work we packed into every day.” The highpoint of the shoot at Malshej Ghat, she asserts, was a dance number picturised on Katrina Kaif who made a pretty picture in a ghagra-choli.

The song is a typically Indian, gloriously uninhibited number, reminiscent of Madhuri Dixit’s Dhak dhak chartbusters.

Kaif rehearsed for it for 10 days and by the time she came to the sets she could do the steps with her eyes shut. “

As soon as she arrived, everyone was galvanised. From the actors to the assistant directors, the guys were clamouring to blow.

East meets West Her costume has been designed by Akki Narula and Khan points out that given that it’s a very goan ki gori (village belle) kind of a song, they settled on a ghagra-choli look with a twist.

“The choli is sequinned and the hairstyle western,” she points out. At the wrap up party that Khan hosted recently at her residence after the three-week shoot, the song once again captured everyone’s imagination. Shrish (editor-producer-husband Shirsh Kunder) had edited the song by then.

And Khan’s guests, besides the cast and crew, included her brother Sajid (Khan) and his Housefull actor Ritesih (Deshmukh) who had come straight from a promotional activity for the film, took turns going into her bedroom to watch the song.

Pay up please “It must have been played and re-played at least 10 times if not more. Finally, I had to threaten that I was going to charge anyone who entered my bedroom to watch the song,” she chuckles, adding that her heroine has been getting the maximum compliments, many of them for this sizzling number that’s expecting to top the charts before the year is out.

Incidentally, Katrina Kaif is the only actor whose ‘new look’ has been revealed so far. Akshy Kumar’s get-up is a closely guarded secret, as is his co-star Akshaye Khanna’s. All Khan will say about Khanna is that he is the “surprise packet of the film with long hair that makes him look like a cool Hollywood star”.

Beauty Pageants and bollywood have long been associated with each other, almost like the Sun and the Moon.

She still is one of the finest actresses of our country.

Susmita Sen, who won the coveted title of Miss Universe in 1994, after emerging the winner at the National level, was not as successful inbollywood though. Her films like ‘Kyun Ki Main Jhooth Nahi Bolta’, ‘Biwi No. 1’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya’, etc, made her an actress with a great screen presence, but she somehow faded into the sidelines, with her other interests taking hold.

Lara Dutta, who became Miss Universe in the year 2000, made her foray into films with counterpart Priyanka Chopra in ‘Andaaz’. However, she came into lime light much later. Films like ‘Partner’, ‘Blue’, etc made her bounce back. ‘Housefull’, recently released has her in a pivotal role.

Priyanka Chopra, who got the 2nd Runner up title in the Miss India pageant in 2000, came into films with ‘Andaaz’, too. She got many breaks with ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, ‘Aitraaz’, ‘Don’’Dostana’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Kaminey’ etc,She is still going strong in the top position run inbollywood!

Akshay Kumar HOUSEFULL is intelligent entertainer!!

Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan starrer flick ‘Housefull’, which released last Friday was an intelligent comic entertainer with.

A solid screenplay that had Sajid Khan’s brand of humor, instead of being slow paced, boring and unimaginative flick liked by ten percent of so called intellectuals.

Yes, director Sajid Khan, happy with the rocking opening response to his latest offering, has thundered that he knew the audiences more than any other person on earth, let alone the critics.

Once again slamming the critics for their so called criticism, Sajid Khan says that he would always love.

To continue with his brand of entertainer rather than going for something boring to torture the ticket buying junta who go to theatres to be entertained and not for changing their lives of some malady. In fact, Sajid Khan also explains that ‘Housefull’ was made with an eye on the global audience and it was not like his earlier venture ‘Heyy Babyy’ starring Vidya Balan.

And Akshay Kumar, which was more of a drama plus comedy. Herein, he had roped in his trusted friends like Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani to create this romantic comedy entertainer for the masses.

‘Housefull’ is about Akshay Kumar playing the unluckiest man in the world, while Deepika Padukone is his wife. The movie cashed in on the summer holiday season and became one of the greatest openers of this calendar year between Friday and Sunday. Now, it will be interesting to see if the movie can survive from Monday onwards.Whatsoever, but the initial response to ‘Housefull’ was already around seventy percent and at some multiplexes like Fun, the occupancy rate was reported to be around hundred percent on the first day of its opening.Now, that is definitely very good news for hit starved bollywood.
