Sena sends sari to Kareena

The Shiv Sena is again playing moral police again; it has decided to teach Kareena kapoor a lesson or two on Indian values. Kareena’s latest film Qurban has the actress barebacked in all the posters that have cropped up as the promotion of the film.

The Shiv Sena in Mumbai feels that this is corrupting young school going kids in the city, they says that Kareena is involved in unwarranted sleaze to promote the film. As a reminder to Kareena about her Indian values, the Shiv Sena has sent a nice Mahrashtrian sari to the actress’s house. They are suggesting that she should wear it and appear in public. Kareena has declined to comment on the issue.

Ranbir Kapoor tipped as Bollywood's next superstar

For years, Amitabh Bachchan and the three Khans Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman have been Bollywood's leading male actors.

But a new man now looks set to join them. Ranbir Kapoor has received rave reviews for his latest film, "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani"

(An Amazing Story Of Strange Love), and is tipped by colleagues and critics to follow his grandfather and father to acting super-stardom.

"Ranbir has all the makings of a superstar," said the film's director, Rajkumar Santoshi.

"He is multi-talented and good-looking, too. He can carry humorous as well as serious roles with quite an ease."

But the 27-year-old brushes aside such talk, instead preferring to build up experience in a range of films to prove his worth as an actor and not just a name in a business and country where family connections go a long way.

"Please don't give me such titles," he told reporters recently, referring to descriptions of him as "the next big thing." "I have a long way to go. I have only been in the film industry for two years and I am working hard to prove myself.

"My next film is 'Rocket Singh -- Salesman Of The Year' for Yash Raj films, then 'Rajneeti' (Politics), which is a serious subject. I want to do good films and all kinds of films." Kapoor has had a meteoric rise to fame since he was first seen in "Saawariya" (My Beloved) in November 2007. The film did not do well, but his potential was noticed.

Last year, he had moderate success with the romantic comedy "Bachna Ae Haseeno" (Watch Out, Beautiful Girls) and then the comedy-drama "Wake Up Sid", which was a huge hit. In "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", he stars alongside Katrina Kaif, who has had an equally rapid rise since switching from modelling to movies and is now one of Bollywood's most bankable stars.

The film -- about a love-struck teenager -- took 337.5 million rupees (seven million dollars) in its first five days, according to www.boxofficeindia.com, while its soundtrack has rocketed to the top of the music charts.

Taran Adarsh, a leading Hindi-language movie industry analyst, predicted that the film's success should benefit Kapoor "to the maximum", with Bachchan now in his mid-60s and the Khans all aged over 40. "'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' has taken the nation by storm," he wrote in his column on the popular www.bollywoodhungama.com website.

"It had a great start, a fabulous weekend, a solid Monday and most importantly, the film has stepped into the coveted top five openers list of all time and that is a major achievement. "He has truly arrived now and whether his contemporaries like it or not, he has all it takes to stake a claim to the throne in times to come."

Another film critic said Kapoor had already proved that he was more than just a famous name. "In a country given to a continuous tradition of lineages, there are few instances when the pure class of pedigree shines brightly through the clutter," wrote Minty Tejpal in the Mumbai Mirror tabloid.

"Even as Rahul Gandhi charms a vast, complicated country, it seems that Ranbir Kapoor can do nothing wrong. He is just fantastic through the film," Tejpal wrote, referring to Gandhi, the youth leader of India's ruling Congress party. "Ranbir is the rare star who makes you laugh and tugs at your heart strings in the same mad beat, thus keeping you constantly charmed."

Kaif said her co-star had inherited the acting genes of his father, Rishi, and grandfather, Raj, who remain revered figures in the industry, but he also works hard at his craft. "You have to work with him to understand how disciplined he is on set," the 25-year-old Kaif said. "He is very punctual and knows every aspect of film-making, which is a rare quality in actors."

"Aamir comes over Sunday at my initiative to discuss a few promotional points for our respective films. It is always a joy to meet him... We have always spent time together discussing various topics of common interest and yes films is one of them. Lets see how things go.

Aamir, who excels at promotional gimmicks for his movies, has so far had live chat with fans on the Internet, reportedly got in touch with them through social-networking websites and even launched the music of the film online.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, "3 Idiots" has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller "Five Point Someone", it stars R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor apart from Aamir.

Big B too is promoting "Paa", in which he plays a 13-year-old suffering from the disease progeria that causes premature ageing. He says his fans often come to visit him on Sundays and that he plans to "give hand outs autographed by me or maybe by Auro". "There is a unique way in which the promotion for 'Paa' is scheduled over the radio and soon you shall all be in a position to witness it...," he wrote.

"Talks have now been initiated for the premiere to be held in not one, not two, but three centres. And we are diligently working on a London-Dubai-Mumbai destination... The logistics and the mechanics are being worked out and hopefully there will be some news soon," he added. Directed by R. Balakrishnan, "Paa" stars Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan as Amitabh's parents.

Katrina Kaif increases her dance fee to 2 crores

With Diwali lights going dim, bollywood is gearing up for the New Year's Eve, 1 and a half months before.

Bollywood actresses, wait a whole year for this very day. After all, New Year's Eve means raking in big moolah.

The tirade for this year begins with Katrina Kaif getting 2 crores for her 10 minute dance sequence during an event.

Katrina Kaif will be paid almost double of what she was offered last year to perform on New Year's Eve at the J W Marriott.

The star's price was Rs 1 crore to usher in 2009 but due to the 26/11 terrorist attacks, all December 31 shows were cancelled. As a result, she could not stage her act.

Though everyone concerned is tightlipped, it is learnt that Kat has been paid a bigger whopper to bring in 2010.

Almost Rs 2 crore! A source said that last year, the celebrations were put off due to the somber mood in the city after 26/11.

This New Year's Eve, however, plans are on to make Katrina's event a grand affair. The actress has agreed to get jiggy but obviously for a higher price to match her present position in B-Town. The actress is guarded about her New Year's Eve show.

Katrina said that nothing's confirmed about December 31 yet. But the source maintains that the hotel is already making arrangements for her live act. They are touting it as a very exclusive show and their biggest draw for the December 31 night. Last year, Rocky S had been roped in to style her and Bosco-Ceasar for the choreography.
