Aamir not charging for health campaign: Govt

The Indian government brushed off reports stating Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has signed a Rs 200-crore deal with the Ministry of Women and Child Development that has put the department on hold.

"Attention of the Ministry of Women and Child Development has been drawn to a recent article in the press regarding the IEC campaign against malnutrition purportedly stating 'Shri Aamir Khan puts the Government on hold'. The contents of the above article are factually incorrect and are a misrepresentation," said the ministry in a Press Note.

"It is clarified that Shri Aamir Khan who is a valued personality and a key figure in this campaign against malnutrition has been providing his services without charging any money from Government of India for the above noble cause. The efforts made by him are laudable and highly appreciated," the ministry said.

According to reports, Aamir has charged Rs 200 crore for producing short films on malnutrition as part of the government campaign which has compelled the ministry to delay the launch of 50 documentaries.
