Esha Gupta keeps work commitments on birthday

Actress Esha Gupta's schedule is packed - so much so that rather than relaxing on her 27th birthday Wednesday, she is busy attending a work-related event.

Esha came down here to launch a store of jewellery brand Shreem, and decided not to use her birthday as an excuse to get away from work commitments.

According to a source, the actress' birthday wish is to continue being part of good projects in Bollywood.

Before entering movies, Esha carved a niche for herself in the world of modeling and went on to became a Kingfisher Calender girl in 2010.

The actress made her Bollywood debut with the Bhatt camp's "Jannat 2", and later starred in "Raaz 3D". Within a short span of time, she even experimented with a de-glam role in Prakash Jha's "Chakravyuh".

Esha wants more action

Actress Esha Gupta, who broke away from her glamorous image with the role of a police officer in "Chakravyuh", would now like to feature in an action-packed film.

"One major film that I would love to do in my life is a full-on action film and not the sexy kind of action. It should be a lot of action, jumping off the cars and buildings, all blood and all. I don't know why I like such films and I feel that I can do them," the 26-year-old said here Sunday at the Blender's Pride Fashion show.

Esha made her Bollywood debut with "Jannat 2" and was recently seen in "Raaz 3" and "Chakravyuh".

Asked if there is any particular negative actor she would like to thrash in a film, Esha said: "There is no such villain (that I would love to kill). There are some so-called on-screen villains who are good in reality. Like in 'Chakravyuh', it was Manoj-ji (Bajpayee). When you meet him, you'll know that no one is funnier than him."

Esha was a successful model before she ventured into films.

Audience is changing Bollywood: Esha Gupta

Two-film-old Esha Gupta gives credit to change in society for the changing mindsets of filmmakers and motivating them to adapt new concepts and ideas.

"Bollywood is now changing a lot and not because of the filmmakers, but because of the audience who have started accepting such (unconventional) movies and it is very good because they have it in the West for a while, " Esha told.

Her next is Prakash Jha's "Chakravyuh" and and it will see her as a tough cop.

"Considering it was Prakash Jha, I knew it would be a hard-hitting movie and I was prepared for that. It was a great opportunity for me, " she said.

Asked if she is open to women-centric roles, the actress said: "If it comes my way, I will do it. But it also depends a lot on filmmaker and the script. It's not that I am thinking of it right now, but would do it if something really good comes my way."

She has also endorsed small screen and will be seen presenting technology-based show "Supercars" on Nat Geo, which will take a look into what goes into the making of some of the finest cars.

"It is a show for the Indian market because they wanted Indians to see it. They wanted a woman to present it because you don't see a woman watching such shows. I thought if I am presenting it, not only the style statement would be there, but I hope a lot of women will watch the show, " she said.

As she is moving ahead in Bollywood, the 24-year-old says her mentors Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, who launched her in Bollywood with "Jannat 2" and repeated her in "Raaz 3", will always remain important for her.

"I love and respect them. They were the first ones who gave me a chance. Both have really been there for me, " she said.

Court allows release of Chakravyuh film's song

The Delhi High Court Wednesday allowed the release of the song "Mehengai" from upcoming Bollywood movie "Chakravyuh", saying that in the contextual setting of the movie the "song is not defamatory".

The court suspended a single judge bench's order restraining the release of the song of the yet-to-be released film on a defamation suit filed by shoemaker Bata. The petitioner objected to the use of its name in the lyrics related to inflation.

Film-maker Prakash Jha, who has directed the film, challenged the single-judge order before a division bench of the court. The film is scheduled for release Oct 24.

The division bench of Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Manmohan Singh said: "We are inclined to stay the operation of the impugned order."

"The movie raised the burning social issues like disparity in wealth, fight of value and thought...to bring out the public debate. I do not find that in the contextual setting or background of the movie, the song or its stanza is defamatory and prima facie derogatory to Bata," a judge said, posting the matter to Nov 7 for hearing.

Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, appearing for Jha, said that the song was on YouTube since Sep 7 after the film got a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification.

Senior advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul, appearing for Bata, said the song was not written on the basis of research.

"The movie is dealing with a theme of social evils and in that background comes this song which would damage the company's (Bata) name," he said.

"You are portraying me as an evil in the song," said Kaul, adding that "the song shows that I am an evil sucking the blood of the nation".

Bata, while filing the suit, said the use of its name in a song on inflation was "offending".

Justice Kailash Gambhir Oct 15, in an interim order, allowed Bata's plea that a satirical mention of the company's name in the song "Mehengai" was defamatory, and directed that the song should not be released till the plea was decided.

Esha Gupta turns muse for designer Ritu Kumar at WIFW

Model-turned actress Esha Gupta, who walked as a showstopper for designer Ritu Kumar at the grand finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) spring-summer 2013, says that it's great to be back on ramp from where she started her journey.

Dressed in black and gold asymmetrical lehengas  Esha says that the designer was the one who gave her the initial breaks in modeling so when she asked her to walk as a showstopper, she couldn't say no.

"I just adore her designs. I know Ritu aunty since my modeling days and I think she is absolutely fantastic with her designs. When I started as the model, she was one of the designers with whom I worked. I remember, during my starting days, she only used to shoot with the big models but when she saw me, she started working with.

"Then she designed for my Miss International outfit and today I am here. We are always like family so there was no point of saying no to her call, " Esha told.

The finale show was divided into two parts, first was of Label Ritu Kumar brand and second Ritu Kumar Couture. Both the segments recreated the magic and simplicity of art deco.

The opening sequence of Label Ritu Kumar had showcased a heavy usage of motifs and moods of 1930s, 1940s and 1950s Spanish era with garments crafted to offer a modern representation. The show started with Audio Visual presentation of the research and idea that went into making the collection.

From skirts, dresses and gown, the collection emphasised lot on evening wear with fabrics varies from silks, chiffon, crepe and twill. The highpoint of the first part was when Ritu's son Amrish Kumar posed in front of shutterbugs with female models walking by his side.

The second half of the show started again with AV bit this time it has more of a Bollywood feel to it as the picture shown was of late actor Shammi Kapoor's song "Baar baar dekho".This was followed by dance number by four couples.

"Ajeeb dastan hai yeh", "Babuji dheere chalna  to "Ek Ladki bheegi bhaagi si", "Taqdeer se bigdi hui" and "Mera naam chin chin chu" were some of the evergreen bollywood tracks that were played while models showcased collection that was mix of heavy couture including lehengas, saris, shararas and gowns.

"The collection has lot of textures and prints with 35 outfits showcased in second half. Bollywood songs were important because the first half was the art deco of the 1930, 40 and 50s of Europe, now India picked up very fast and we had our own art deco in the form of these films songs. Also I think the music went well with the clothing, " Ritu told reporters.

The second half of the collection drew inspiration from the European influence on Indian royalty during the ore-partition period and this resulted in using rich laces, brocades, and embroideries.

The design ended with a regal collection of gold, black and jeweled ensemble of the india in mid 20th century.

Esha Gupta told: I actually bought a car from his (Prakash Jha's) money. I didn't have a car till 'Razz'. Thanks to my makeup artist, he used to start a little early and pick me up from my residence and then drop me back home. Many a time even Vikram Bhatt dropped me back home.

This is my first car. It's Skoda Superb. I even got lucky with the number. I got really great number - it's 786. It's a second hand car, but I am happy that I own a car now,  the 23-year-old said. Esha Gupta can always count on Bhatts

Model-turned-actress Esha Gupta, who made her Bollywood debut with "Jannat 2", says she will always be willing to work with the Bhatt family if they have a good offer to make.

"If they give me a good offer, I would definitely want to work with them. These are the people I will never forget in my life, and these are the people who will never leave me in my life. Whether we work together or not, I think our relationship is always going to be good, " Esha told in an interview.
"Jannat 2" was produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt.

"Not only did they believe in me to give me a 'Jannat 2', but they also gave me 'Raaz 3', which is such a popular franchise. It shows the kind of confidence they have in me, " she added.

Showing skin or doing sexual scenes is not boldness: Esha Gupta?

Esha Gupta says showing skin or doing sexual scenes on the big screen is not boldness for her. The boldness reflects in attitude, says the model-turned-actress.

"Boldness for me is not sexually. It is what Vidya Balan did in 'The Dirty Picture' or what Kareena Kapoor did in 'Jab We Met'. They were such strong characters and these actors took the films on their shoulders. Even Vidya Balan in 'Kahaani', she was bold and great," Esha told.

The actress has otherwise been quite 'bold' in her films "Jannat 2" and "Raaz 3". She even did a nude scene for her latest film "Raaz 3". Now Esha will be seen in a de-glam avatar in Prakash Jha's "Chakravyuh".

Janata only wants to see beautiful girls: Esha Gupta

Models are beautiful, and they can act, says Esha Gupta, who believes that the transition of a model from the ramp to celluloid is often successful because the audiences like to watch beautiful faces on screen

'Look at Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif... they are one of the best actresses we have these days, and they all used to be models. The bottomline is that everyone wants to just see beauty and models are beautiful,' Esha told.

'At the end of the day, you need to be presentable, because the janata wants to see a beautiful girl on screen, who they can go home and imagine about.

That's how it works around the world. 'When I saw Bipasha Basu coming out of the water in 'Jism', wearing that white outfit, I being a girl drooled on it.

I imagined what I'd look like in that scene. Everyone wants to see beauty. It's just that models are good looking, and we get a chance, we are well aware of the industry, focus well, do our acting course and enter the industry,' added the 26-year-old.
The 26-year-old, a former Miss India contestant and Kingfisher Calendar girl, got her Bollywood launch pad with Mahesh Bhatt's 'Jannat 2'.

When it comes to fame, she compares her spirit to that of a sportsman. 'If you ask a sportsman, they never strive for fame.

They go for it and prove themselves because they love what they are doing. And that's just what happened with me. I always loved what I was doing and I knew I was getting better with it,' she said.

Acting is exciting for her. 'After a point, I did every magazine cover, every designer shoot, and walked for every designer. What was beyond that? Move to Mumbai! So I did that.

Then did Kingfisher, then what... films! So I like this excitement,' she said. 'The best thing about being an actor is that you always get to do something new, and meet new people,' she added.

She made her debut in May this year, and her second film, 'Raaz 3' has already hit the marquee. Esha is happy with her changed life.

'It (acting) is a completely different field... as a model when you are walking on the ramp, you are not meeting and interacting with people,' she said adding that while doing promotions of films, 'there are about 7,000 to 8,000 people wherever we go.

So imagine being on stage and addressing them, and all of them want you to talk to them.'
'When you're on the ramp, we are ourselves and showcasing shoes, clothes, and representing products - but when you're an actor, you're never the same person. I am never Esha Gupta. I am always some character,' she said.

Esha has also shot her third film, Prakash Jha's 'Chakravyuh' -- and as one expects, the movie will present her in a 'completely different look', the actress confirms.

Movie Review: Raaz 3 is good blend of sensuality, horror and human element

Cast: Bipasha Basu, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Manish Chaudhuri, Mohan Kapoor

Director: Vikram Bhatt

Story: Shagufta Rafiq

Music: Jeet Ganguly

Censor Rating: A

Rating:***

Somewhere down the conscious, every human being is ravenous for success and prestige and stars of cine galaxy are no exception to the rule. But the things get worst, when these stars get incarcerate within the confines their aspiration and eminence. A well recognized status and fame somewhere down the conscious adds on to self-esteem of these celebs who constantly live with an insecurity of losing it at the toss of a coin.

Sometimes this addiction to stardom compel these celebs, to have an unholy alliance with even the impassable domain of exorcism. And that is the ground where Vikram Bhatt's recently released cine flick Raaz-3 has its roots.

This much talked about cine flick starring Bipasha Basu, Emraan Haashmi and Esha Gupta opened with an occupancy of around 75% at the multiplexes.
Synopsis
Raaz-3 primarily revolves around, the verminous sport of exorcism and necromancy which comes into play, when the domination of an established actress is smashed into bits, by the arrival of a budding actress. And from their takes over the vengeance of an established superstar, who takes a resort in the dark lanes of black magic.
Story
Raaz- 3 is the narrative, of an established actress Shanaya Shekhar ( Bipasha Basu) for whom stardom and success are two essential vitalizing ingredients of her life. But the rising domination of Shanaya fragment into bits after the arrival of a younger actress Sanjana (Esha) who repeatedly trounce Sanjana in the competitive league of showbiz, which does not go down well with Shanaya.

In order to regain her lost glory, Shanaya decides to detach from the path of religion and opts for an unholy alliance with the dark lanes of necromancy and uses her director boyfriend Aditya Arora ( Emraan Hashmi) as pawn to meet her objective.

From their begins the anguish of Sanjana, who falls prey to abominable intentions of Shanaya. But the entire plan of Shanaya flips, when Aditya fall in love with Sanjana. But inspite of that Shanaya prefer to keep the vengeance tab on go and constantly keeps on making the the lives of the duo a living hell.
Script
Ever-since the era of Ramsay brothers, there is a thumb rule for the script of horror cine flicks which says that, it's the bloodcurdling appeal of the onscreen wraith and the spontaneity of those horror sequences which are the prominent ingredients to make horror flick a success.

But as far as scripts of Raaz- 3 is concerned, then besides having those strategically placed joggles, it has got ample amount of "Human-Element" in it which very well showcases the vengeance and agony of the protagonists with a sound dose of audaciousness.

Though the script of Raaz-3 doesn't have any thing extra ordinary to offer, but inspite of that it somewhat succeeds in keeping the gaze of fans glued to the screen. So for penning down quite a common script but with utmost blending dexterity, Shagufta Rafiq deserves to be patted.
Dialogues
Quite in accordance with the soul of the script, dialogues too don't have any extra ordinary or over the top appeal, but inspite of that they well supplement the theme and nowhere make themselves appear as something, unnecessarily obtruded.

Screenplay
After delivering a box office disaster, Dangerous Ishq, finally Vikram Bhatt is back to re-write the success saga with Raaz-3. Since the first frame of the movie, Vikram pursues this cine cantata of vengeance and anguish with utmost dexterity.

The flow of the narration takes off so beautifully that you nowhere feels like parting your gaze from the screen. Unlike those core horror flicks, Raaz-3, do not overburden you with those abrupt shocking blows of fear, rather it relies on a balanced blend of human element and horror.

Be it those spine-chilling horror sequences or some passionate scene, Vikram never allowed anything to go beyond the desired proportions and has adroitly succeeded in keeping every ingredient glued to the theme of the story.

First half of the movie well succeeds in sowing the premise which showcases the vengeance of an actress whose rising stardom nose dives abruptly leading to the inculcation of jealousy and her stepping in the dark aisles of black magic.
Ever-since the onset of premise, narration of Raaz-3 flows at a constant pace which further adds on to the curiosity of the cine buffs. And as far as emergence of those horror sequences is concerned, then Vikram has very well managed the marvelous spontaneity in their emergence and has kept that blow on face element at bay.

After witnessing the soothing flow of story in the first half, post interval portion of, Raaz-3, may appear as leaping towards climax for a while, but by the time climax reaches, the pace of the story regains its constant momentum to keep fan's attention glued to the celluloid.

As far as 3D factor is concerned, then it looks like post Dangerous Ishq Vikram has realised that a vowed 3D should be a 3D, hence in Raaz-3 he has made it sure that 3D embellishment in Raaz-3, should thoroughly succeed in impressing the movie enthusiasts.
Acting
As far as the performance of the protagonists of Raaz-3 are concerned, then it's Bipasha Basu who completely steals the show. Throughout the onscreen proceeding, Bipasha keeps on tapping the perfection with utmost adroitness.

Be it sizzling an audacious scenes, or a psychopathic persona of an actress whose career is down sliding, Bipasha successfully managed to get into the skin of her character. In fact it won't be wrong to say that, Raaz-3 is surely going to revitalize the otherwise crumbling career of Bipasha.

In Raaz-3 Emraan is once again blessed with an opportunity, to get cozy with two sizzling beauties of showbiz. Thanks to the director. Keeping jokes apart, Emraan has once again succeeded in meeting the expectation of his fans and very well fit in the shoes of his character Aditya Arora with utmost excellence.
On the contrary to the performances of these two adroit protagonists, Esha's performance looks somewhat half-hearted in first half where she looks more of an actor sans expression, but as the story proceeds, she copes up well with the demand of her character.

Though the supporting cast does not have much to do, as the major portion of the story revolves around Bipasha, Emraan and Esha, but inspite of that Manish Chaudhuri thoroughly succeeds in leaving his impact as wicked soul.

Music
Contrary to Bhatt legacy, Raaz-3 nowhere offers a marvelous dose of music, which is usually believed to be an inseparable part of Bhatt movies. Tracks like 'Rafta rafta', 'Deewana kar raha hai', 'Zindagi se' are soothing, melodious, but, not as impressive as the tracks of 2002 cine flick Raaz were. Even the peppy number Kya Raaz is not peppy enough to secure a slot among chart busters tracks.
BO Potential
With a massive brand value to provide an impetus to its BO earning, Raaz-3 is expected to emerge as one of the sought after movie of the year, which may succeed in regaining the lost glory for Vikram and Bipasha. And besides that, unlike the earning pace of Ek Tha Tiger and Rowdy Rathore, Raaz-3 is expected to make a decent amount on BO but at a constant pace of earning.
Verdict
To sum up, knitted around a core of, aspirations, vengeance and necromancy, RAAZ 3 is an entertaining cine cantata with a sizzling blend of sensuality, horror and human element in 3D. Infact it won't be wrong to say Raaz-3 is worth a watch to have glimpse of redefined horror genre of Bollywood.

Is Esha Gupta denying going nude due to her boyfreind?

It seems her relationship with Armaan Gujral be the reason behind Esha Gupta's recent denial about doing nude scenes in 'Raaz 3'

Model-turned-actress Esha Gupta was recently in news for shooting a nude scene in her new film helmed by Vikram Bhatt. There was also news how she shot for a 20-minute kissing scene with her co-star Emraan Hashmi.

After all that, Esha has suddenly sprung a surprise by denying that she ever shot for any 'nude scene'. Incidentally, the recently released promo of the film shows her in the act.

Esha is not new to doing intimate scenes on screen. Her first Bollywood film, again opposite Emraan Khan, also had several close-up scenes between her and the actor.

Our source says, `It is strange that Esha should deny everything now. Apparently her father is quite pissed off with her for doing such scenes.`

However, the grapevine is buzzing with rumours that it could have something to do with Esha's romance with Delhi-based-businessman Armaan Gujral. Armaan is the son of socialite and former model Feroze Gujral and the grandson of artist Satish Gujral. The veteran painter is former Indian Prime Minister I K Gujral's brother.
Our source states, Armaan and Esha had a showdown a few days ago. Esha is very serious about settling down with her beau and does not want to upset the Gujral family with her on screen intimate scenes.

Sources close to Bhatt say, The film's entire team is very upset with Esha for denying that she did those bold scenes right before the film's release. It is Esha who has shot for them and the audience can clearly see it in the film.

Mix of horror, thrill in Raaz 3

Thrill, fear, love, jealously, insecurities and supernatural elements - Vikram Bhatt's horror film "Raaz 3" offers all this and much more when it releases Friday.

Featuring actors Bipasha Basu, Emraan Hashmi and Esha Gupta, it is a sequel to 2009 film "Raaz - The Mystery Continues", which itself was a sequel to 2002 "Raaz".

The film got an Adult-certificate from the censor board and it will be releasing in 3D to give audiences an edge-of-the-seat experience.

"Raaz 3" is about the struggle of an actor's life to attain fame and success. After Vidya Balan's "The Dirty Picture", it is yet another attempt to bring real life dilemma of actors to the silver screen.

This aspect is being brought on screen through Shanaya (Bipasha), an actress at the height of her success. She is offered best roles and wins all the awards she's nominated for. In addition, she also has a passionate affair with a handsome director Aditya (Emraan).

But as they say, there is a time when all good things must come to end. And Shanaya's career too takes a nose dive when young actress Sanjana (Esha) makes her debut. Suddenly, Shanaya is sidelined and everybody only wants to work with Sanjana.

Soon, Aditya also leaves Shanaya for Sanjana, and Shanaya sees her career fading away and she slowly becomes crazy.

To win her glory back, she turns to black magic and makes it her goal in life to destroy Sanjana and get back the man she loves, Aditya.

Bipasha says she has given her best shot for "Raaz 3" and says she doubts if she can deliver a better performance than this.

"For me, in my filmography of work, this is the most challenging role I have done and I don't think I can get better than this," she said.

The film is produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.

Esha Gupta set for TV debut

After bagging prestigious projects with Bhatt camp and Prakash Jha, model-turned-actress Esha Gupta is now making her foray on the small screen with "Supercars".

The 26-year-old has been roped in to host the new season of TV show that talks about some of the hottest cars in the world. The show will be launched in October on National Geographic Channel.

"I couldn't have asked for a better show than 'Supercars' for my television debut. Not many people know that I am extremely passionate about cars and an adrenaline junkie. I can't wait to share my passion for these hot wheels with my fans and viewers in the upcoming power-packed season of 'Supercars', " Esha said in a statement.

The 26-year-old, who made her Bollywood debut "Jannat 2", is gearing up for the release of her second film "Raaz 3" where she shares screen space with Emraan Hashmi and Bipasha Basu.

Emraan-Esha's 20-minute kissing session!

Emraan Hashmi had to engage in a long and intense lip-lock with Esha Gupta for his upcoming horror film 'Raaz 3'

Emraan Hashmi has done it again! For his upcoming horror film opposite Esha Gupta, he kissed the actress for 20-long minutes. The serial kisser has smooched several times on screen, but this is perhaps his longest.

The two actors have already kissed in their last film together, Jannat 2. Prior to this, Emraan's kiss with Soha Ali Khan in Tum Mile was said to be his longest on screen smooch.
Mahesh Bhatt says, Emraan's kissing scene is the icing on the cake that we offer in the film to all his fans. I would call this a marathon kiss.

No cleavage for Esha Gupta, thank you

Esha also disowns her sexy image. Director Vikram Bhatt very clearly instructed the newbie first seen in Jannat 2 opposite Emraan Hashmi, to wear dresses that don't reveal her cleavage, while Bipasha was instructed to.... well, let it all hang out.

Explains Esha, Cleavage is, I think, a very post-youth thing. I think showing the cleavage is more about displaying your physique to the world when you are no longer that young. Young girls are far too confident of their space to be insecure about the physicality.

My director Vikram Bhatt and I decided I'd wear casual conservative clothes because an average 20-something city girl dresses with no insecurity of not getting attention.
Bipasha plays the older actress and therefore all the aggressive skin show in Raaz 3 goes to her.

Says Esha, I am extremely de-glam in the role. When I cry I allowed smudged makeup to be used. No half-measures in this film. Later when I begin to get unwell because of the black magic being done on me by Bipasha's character I did away with all makeup and used a pale look.

Esha Gupta goes nude

Actress was apprehensive as she had to run in the buff when insects attack for 'Raaz 3'

Esha Gupta might have got Vikram Bhatt's upcoming horror flick when Jacqueline Fernandez walked out but she was equally apprehensive before doing the nude scene.

She had to run in the buff when some insects attack her due to a black magic act of Bipasha Basu. Vikram and Bips made her comfortable while doing the shoot.

In the industry where two actresses cannot get along, Bips also took time out to help Esha feel comfortable while enacting the scene.

Esha Gupta doesn't want to be a let down

Actress Esha Gupta says that "Raaz 3" is a strong film in terms of content and cast, so she had to put her best foot forward to ensure that she doesn't become a sore point in the film.

"The best things about 'Raaz 1' and 'Raaz 2' have culminated in this film. Vikram (Bhatt) and Vishesh Films are collaborating after a long time, Mahesh jee (Bhatt) is personally involved with the film, Bipasha Basu has come back into the camp, Emraan Hashmi is a great actor. Then you know the songs will be good. But the only thing that I felt that can fall in this film is Esha Gupta, " the 26-year-old said in an interview.

"So I knew that if I have to do it then I have to give my 100-200 per cent because I did not want the audience to say that Esha did not do well. So, for me, I had to put in a lot of energy, " she added.

Directed by Vikram Bhatt, "Raaz 3" is Esha's second film after "Jannat 2" and is slated for a Sep 7 release.
