Bollywood director Rohith Shetty who is remaking it personally asked her to enter Hindi film industry, yet Anushka declined politely saying she's "comfortable in South film industry.

"Anushka is the busiest star in Telugu and Tamil and she is in much demand. So she doesn't want to become another Asin or Trisha who are now back from Bollywood doing South movies.

Although Asin made a grand entry into Bollywood with Ghajini, her subsequent flops made her a no star. Trisha's first Hindi movie, Khatta Meetha, was a disaster. Seeing their pathetic situation in Bollywood, Anushka wants to continue doing Telugu and Tamil movies.

Amitabh Bachchan makes ‘deadly proclamations' about media

Amitabh Bachchan makes ‘deadly proclamations' about mediaAmitabh Bachchan has had a 40-year-old long love-hate relationship with the media, ever since he began his Bollywood journey. The actor, who is 68 years old and is still going strong, knows how to prove people wrong by his witticisms, Zee News reported.

According to a report, the living legend, who made an appearance on Karan Johar’s talk show ‘Koffee with Karan’, expressed his deadly views on some of the well-known faces of the fourth estate on a recent episode.

However, the audiences could not hear the stalwart’s comments as they were chopped off the episode. When quizzed by the filmmaker on which was the most over exposed couple, Big B spontaneously replied, “Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi are the most overexposed couple of the year,” the website reported.

When promos of Amitabh’s statements were aired, some people showed great interest and made frantic calls to the producer of the show for the sound bytes. Considering the fact that the statements were quite controversial, KJ’o decided it was best to pull it off from the episode to be telecast.

Moreover, when KJo asked Big B about the worse criticism that he had ever heard about himself, the actor said, “Devyani Chaubal saw ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ and wrote ‘his sun is setting, he’s over’...Pritish Nandy wrote an article on me and titled it ‘Finished’,” the report said.

Fight to be more Bengali, Vidya Balan versus Rani Mukherjee

Fight to be more Bengali, Vidya Balan versus Rani MukherjeeImagine Vidya Balan staying up till 3 in the night and singing “Aar koto raat eka thakbo… Chokh mele dekhbo naa tomake…”That’s from Rani’s Believe It Or Not collection about her No One Killed Jessica co-star.

One is a Bengali by chance. The other a Bengali by choice. Between them on Monday evening, Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan were more like two Bengalis coming home to Calcutta than two big Bollywood stars coming to the city to promote their film.

The last time Rani and Vidya were seen together in Calcutta was in August, in the front row of designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s debut show in the city at Taj Bengal. On Monday, the venue was the same and both were again wearing Sabyasachi but this time the spotlight was firmly on the two women.

They had flown in from Mumbai earlier in the morning. And the moment they set foot in Calcutta, Vidya had squealed out loud at the airport. A concerned Rani turned around and asked her what had happened. “I am in my city!” Vidya replied. “Pagol meye!” Rani concluded.

A few hours later Rani was in the mood to make most of that mad streak. “I am telling you Vidya was a Bengali in her last birth... she loves to speak Bengali, she loves to eat Bengali food and she loves Bengali men,” Rani announced even as a stunned Vidya didn’t know how to react.

And then came the killer line. “Vidya would love to get married to a Bengali man who has a long surname ending with ‘jee’, like Chatterjee or Mukherjee,” Rani quipped, before adding: “She would love to be a Mrs Mukherjee.”

The impromptu Bengali jamming between the two Bolly beauties didn’t end there. Recovering from this sudden onslaught, Vidya started singing the Autograph chartbuster — “Aamake aamar moto thakte dao... aami nijeke nijer moto guchhiye niyechhi...”

Rani was not done. “See, her Bengali pronunciation sounds like a Bengali.” Vidya was ready with the repartee this time — “Karon aami mon theke Bangali!”

If Vidya’s Bengali was sounding just right — after spending two months in the city shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani — Rani’s Bengali was sounding very Lokhandwala. “Don’t make me speak more Bengali... I am getting exposed,” the Miss Mukerji herself pleaded.

Raj Kumar Gupta, director of No One Killed Jessica, confirmed that even on the sets of the film, which is inspired by the Jessica Lal murder case, it was one big, mad Bengali party. With Sabyasachi designing for both the actresses in the film, “everyone was jabbering in Bengali all the time”.

What’s more, they even shot a few crucial scenes of the film here in Calcutta — Maidan to New Market, Ballygunge to Dum Dum. “Sabrina Lal’s (Jessica’s sister, played by Vidya) journey brings her to Calcutta and it was important that we actually came to Calcutta to shoot that portion,” Raj Kumar revealed.

Cut to Monday morning, and it was Rani who was taking a trip down Calcutta memory lane. The actress had gone straight from the airport to Elgin Road for a bhanr of tea.

“It’s a place where my maa and mashi used to take me from the very beginning for bhanrer cha,” Rani told Metro. “I really enjoy it. There are so many things I would love to do here in Calcutta but I always come with so much work in hand that it never happens.”

But what binds Vidya to Calcutta? “Rani is always curious about my Bengali connection... ‘what is this connection I want to understand’, she asks me,” Vidya said. “Wish I could understand it myself....”

So has she become more Bangali than Rani? “That I don’t know, that I don’t know,” Vidya laughed out loud with a twinkle in her eye. “But all I can say is that Tomate aamate dekha hoyechhilo, jaani naa kobe kothay... That’s what I feel about Calcutta.”

Katrina Kaif: Rs 3.5 crore offer for New Year dance

Katrina Kaif: Rs 3.5 crore offer dance for New YearKatrina Kaif cannot sacrifice her New Year celebration at any cost. Quite literally, the lady turned down an offer of Rs 3.5 crore to dance on her ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ anthem from ‘Tees Maar Khan’ on this New Year eve. While Malaika Arora Khan postponed her New Year vacation with husband Arbaaz Khan, when an entertainment group offered her a large undisclosed sum for her ‘Munni’ gig, Kat chose to stay away from the drunken revelers on December 31.

A source close to Katrina revealed, “A suburban luxury hotel offered her Rs 3.5 crores for the gig. Frankly, Katrina was tempted. But she backed out in time. ”Interestingly, the stunning ladies, both acquainted to Salman Khan have revealed a contrasting attitude to their dance numbers.

On asking Katrina about any dancing offer at this New Year eve, she said, “Are you crazy? I am not dancing at any hotel on New Year`s eve. To be entertaining a live audience that night instead of enjoying oneself as another year slips in - how sad is that! It`s almost like you are telling the audience, `Hey guys, I don`t have a life.” “It`s true I am not going on my annual family holiday, but the reason is not a lucrative dance offer,” she added.

Katrina Kaif rules Bollywood as monarch bumblebee

Katrina Kaif rules Bollywood as monarch bumblebeeA listers like Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu came up short to lure crowds this year, while woman luck's favourite Katrina Kaif and item youngster Malaika Arora Khan plus some newcomers maintained to keep the ticker ticking for Bollywood brave women.

Katrina Kaif: Ramp to rampage - this model-turned-actress has taken Bollywood by storm. Continuing her habit of turning a movie into a hit, the gorgeous face with a stiff upper lip that has now gone desi rocked the box office with her chaste Hindi volleys in Prakash Jha's political thriller Raajneeti. And if that wasn't it, she stood out to wipe out mankind with her pelvic thrusts in the item number Sheila ki jawani from her latest outing Tees Maar Khan. Katrina is leaving no stone unturned to enchant the public with her best.

Malaika Arora Khan: She has the look, the moves and knows how to groove. If Bollywood is synonymous with 'jhatkas' and 'matkas', it doesn't get bigger than this as Malaika left audiences gawking with her hump...her hump, her hump in the item number Munni badnaam hui from Dabangg. Have feet, will dance but won't act. And did one notice, this one's got a surname too to hang on to - Khan.

Vidya Balan: If the leading ladies in B-Town hit the gym with a vengeance to shed the extra kilos, Vidya hogged until she turned herself into a deglam, voluptuous and conniving woman for Ishqiya. Mouthing expletives soaked in chemical derivatives, this Parineeta girl turned femme fatale and left men scratching their brains. (Rani and Vidya Kiss)

Kajol: There is nothing that she can't do. Daughter, actress, wife, mother - Kajol's dormant comings and goings on the big screen took a surprise turn when the dusky beauty returned with three outings this year, My Name is Khan, We Are Family and Toonpur Ka Superhero. No matter the box office fate, she is one performer the audience would give anything to watch. However, leaving them wanting for more, the mother of two is now headed for a three-year sabbatical.

Konkona Sen Sharma: She already has to her credit powerful movies, the scripts of which some actresses wouldn't even dare read. And Konkona, as she is fondly called, surprised the masses with her metro wifey avatar in the comedy Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? before enacting a lawyer in Right Yaaa Wrong and a sexually aggressive woman in Mirch. Talk about her acting prowess, if one had a parameter to judge, this one deserves nothing but a 10 on 10.

Neetu Singh: As calm as a river and still sporting the fresh glow of the morning sunshine, yesteryear heroine Neetu Singh made a full-fledged comeback in Do Dooni Char 27 years after bidding adieu to celluloid. Bringing a smile on one's face with her acting nuances and immaculate chemistry with actor hubby Rishi Kapoor, she just proved she still has it in her to win people's hearts.

Kangana Ranaut: Perhaps the most unfortunate of talents this year, she was almost jostling for space in multi-starrers like Kites, Knock Out and No Problem but believe you or not, this golden gem did make her presence felt with her glitter in Milan Luthria's retro underworld saga Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

Shalini Vatsa: Ever thought Dhaniya from Peepli Live would have an M. Phil degree? No one did, but this full time theatre actress left audiences applauding at her rants in the satire with her splendid portrayal of a rustic, illiterate, short-tempered mother of three with zeal.

Malaika Shenoy: Model, actress and voice-over artiste, this Mumbai-based girl got her due with Peepli Live. Her experience as a TV presenter in reality came handy to bring out the poise, panache and perfection of a star reporter in the black comedy which she edgily used to cast a dig at one real female scribe. Thanks to her involvement in the vibrant English theatre movement in Mumbai, her performance simply couldn't go unnoticed.

Sonakshi Sinha: What would you do if your debut project was with none other than Salman The Khan? Hit the metal and cut down flab! Perhaps the perfect example of fat to fab, Shatru Shotgun's daughter made a Dabangg debut in the year's highest grosser. Getting into the star mode day by day, this one's sure a dark horse. (Sonakshi Sinha Maxim Scandal)

Anushka Sharma: Petite, pretty and now pricey. This 22-year-old couldn't have asked for more. In two outings with the Yash Raj banner in the year - Badmaash Company and Band Baaja Baaraat - she managed to persuade audiences of her potential with her Delhi 'kudi' role in the latter. Salman Khan is the top Btown performer of 2010

The usual frontrunners like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and even megastar Amitabh Bachchan failed to charm audiences with their big budget outings this year except for Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn who were followed by underdogs and first-timers. Here's an IANS list of the top actors on the basis of their box office performances.

Salman Khan is the top Btown performer of 2010

- Salman Khan : Nobody beats this "Bigg Boss" when it comes to pleasing audiences with his authenticity and irrevocable charm. Living up to his "Wanted" legacy, 'Robinhood Pandey' stood tall as the invincible king of Bollywood this year with his mofussil mazaa providing contemporary vintage corrupt cop saga "Dabangg" that flushed the debacle of his first release of the year "Veer" to obscurity.

- Ajay Devgn : Comedy, politics, action - you name it, he's done it. Proving his mettle with the maximum releases for an actor this year in "Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?" "Raajneeti", "Golmaal 3", "Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai" and the forgetful "Aakrosh", the National Award winner emerged as the most versatile and dependable actor. To top it all, he is set to close the year with the live-action animation "Toonpur Ka Superhero".

- Ranbir Kapoor : Nobody believed that this Kapoor family scion will portray the nuances of a conniving and scheming politician with such perfection in "Raajneeti". But this chocolate boy turned into desi Michael Corleone and surprised everyone with his immaculate performance in the political thriller that hit bull's eye at the box office. His antics as lover boy in "Anjaana Anjaani", however, couldn't live up to the wickedness of the character he portrayed.

- Omkar Das Manikpuri : No six packs, no film connections and no fanfare, but still this 39-year-old native from Bhilai managed to make his place in a billion hearts with his vulnerable, suicidal and tattered appearance as soon as his modest debut "Peepli Live" hit the screens. The result - you had the common man and now he's got a name, Natha.

- Raghubir Yadav - "Massey Sahib" returned and how! The award-winning seasoned actor might be an irregular with his attendance on the big screen, but when it came to playing Budhia, Natha's elder brother in "Peepli Live", this Mungerilal just struck the right note.

- Shah Rukh Khan : Businessman, actor - actor, businessman. The Badshah of Bollywood, a name often synonymous with larger-than-life cinema on the big screen, found it difficult to maintain his crown this year despite pulling off the role of an autistic youth in "My Name Is Khan" with aplomb. Still wondering why he's on the list? Because he's Khan...Shah Rukh Khan!

- Ali Zafar : While illegal Bollywood discs run on the neighboring nation's home theatres with panache, the Hindi film industry got an original import in Zafar from Pakistan to produce a sleeper hit "Tere Bin Laden". As for the singer-actor's performance, he definitely left the fairer sex wanting for more.

- Ranvir Singh : Again no pomp and show and no filmy father but this lad from Mumbai managed to do just the appropriate justice to his role as a Delhi munda in Yash Raj Films' hit "Band Baaja Baaraat". With a dream debut and a petite co-star in Anushka Sharma, he was praised for carrying both the film and the actress on his shoulders.

- Rishi Kapoor : Now this is what you call a comeback. Not that Rishi Kapoor has not been active on the celluloid but he certainly has not been doing lead roles. "Do Dooni Char" just brought back the plump kid from "Mera Naam Joker", in his twilight days now, to the big screen in an ovation worthy slice of cinema.

- Ronit Roy : More than 15 years after he made his big screen debut before making a phenomenal breakthrough on the small screen, this actor just proved he has it in him to shake and not stir the audiences with his captive and powerful performance. If there are any adjectives to go by, truly the underdog.

Katrina Kaif could be supreme the roost in Bollywood

Kaif appears on the finale episode of the show tonight as part of the promotions of Tees Maar Khan.

Kaif could not handle rejection easily. Asked about her uncharacteristic display of emotions over just an omelette, Katrina doesn't do her usual I-am-too-prim-to-react act.

She says, "I agree I was very upset. But it was not 'just an omelette'. I made it on the show. That is the only thing I can make in the kitchen. And I'm very confident about my omelettes. When everyone on MasterChef hated its taste, I was devastated. I felt humiliated."It took Katrina a while to figure out the reason why her preparation turned out so badly.

"Only later I got to know that after I had finished making my omelette, Akshay poured a whole cup of salt into it. That's why it became unpalatable," she says. Though Akshay cracked up in glee at his own prank, Katrina was not amused. "An omelette is the only proof of my cooking skills. I didn't feel good about it being messed up."

The website Styleite[dot]com said Bachchan was quite fair-skinned but did look "excessively pale" on the cover. Anushka's triumphant three times for Yash Raj

First RAB NE BANA DI JODI, then BADMAASH COMPANY and now BAND BAAJA BAARAAT. Yes, you are absolutely on dot, these are lead actress Anushka Sharma's hat trick of successes for India's premier production venture Yash Raj Films.

Anushka's triumphant three times for Yash Raj

Although Anushka has been refuting the news of a three film contract with Yash Raj and she cites Nikhil Advani's PATIALA HOUSE (which she claims to have signed even before BAND BAAJA BAARAAT) to substantiate her point, but as things stand today Anushka has indeed completed her three films with Yash Raj and that too very successfully.

All her above mentioned films will go down as profitable ventures for Yash Raj Films obviously with the blockbuster RAB NE BANA DI JODI being the most successful of them all, thanks to King Khan. Though Anushka was not credited much with the success of RAB NE..., despite a brilliant all round performance that too opposite SRK, yet there is no doubt that it's incredible success did help her become an instant hit with the mass and class (very much like what OSO did for Deepika and DABANGG has done for Sonakshi). This translated into a wonderful second innings via BADMAASH COMPANY and then came BAND BAAJA BAARAAT1, where Anushka was one of the only few known faces.

As we had been saying time and again, BAND BAAJA BAARAAT has indeed turned out to be the dark horse, and though it did open slow but it's positive word-of-mouth worked beautifully and the film has shown one of the best trending of 2010, as it has been good and steady even in its second week which means that the film indeed would turn out to be a successful venture for Yash Raj. The final outcome though is still awaited but all credit to Anushka for pulling this off and we are sure that after this Yash Raj (and especially Aditya who showed so much faith in her) would want her do more films for them, as was Anushka's wish. Here's wishing many more hat tricks for Anushka and Yash Raj Films, separately or as a team.

Farah Khan has all the earmarks of being particularly cordial to Salman Khan

Farah Khan has all the earmarks of being particularly cordial to Salman KhanChoreographer turned head Farah Khan gives off an impression of being quite cordial to Salman Khan, who is incidentally likewise the curve rival of her partner turned adversary Shahrukh Khan. So, does that mean that she is heading off to throw Salman Khan in her upcoming Bollywood step? Reports in the media were swirling with the news that the couple have at present held hands to work in a picture as one unit, but Farah has approached the cutting edge to obstruct all such asserts. In an articulation to the media, Farah declares that she has stewardship over no ideas of throwing Salman in her following picture, at least not at the present moment.

Farah Khan and Salman Khan share a very good rapport and that was evident through their interaction when the director visited the sets of Bigg Boss 4 to promote her upcoming film Tees Maar Khan. And the media was quick to conclude that Farah Khan’s next choice for her next film is Salman. However, the director has made it clear that her next Bollywood project is still in the scripting stage and the actors will be finalized once she has rounded up on the story and the characters. Thus she may or may not choose Salman to play the lead in her next Bollywood film. We may assume that also leaves space for Shahrukh Khan filling the shoes of her next male lead. Till then we can just wait and watch for next year.

Saif Ali Khan holding up for Kareena Kapoor to declare yes to marriage

Saif Ali Khan holding up for Kareena Kapoor to declare yes to marriageThere has been enough discussion about Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s marriage! We have heard lots of statement from both of them but none of them have given real indication about the time they would tie the knot.

Saif has already taken the marriage vows once and is happy with two kids from his former wife Amrita Singh. So, it seems there is no hurry from his side and Kareena is also at the peak of her career and is only 30 now. The hottest couple of Bollywood does not seem to be interested in tying the knot at this moment considering their career is going great.

However, Saif is quite intelligent and shifted the question towards Kareena, saying that he is ready to take the vows once Kareena is comfortable and happy with it. The couple has been dating since last three years and the question has been haunting them since then. Saif once made it clear that Bebo is not required to convert herself before getting married to him, so there is no problem in this aspect. She has also reached a comfort level with his two kids and family, so no barrier there too.

So, why is Kareena taking time to say yes to ‘chote nawab’? She has given enough to Bollywood and can easily continue her journey in the industry even after turning ‘choti begum’, considering the fact that Saif’s mother and sister are actresses themselves.

Saif says that he will remain committed the same way even if he is not married to Kareena but we think the lady should come out with a serious decision very soon. In 2009, Bebo was quoted saying that she would get married by 2012 and would like to have two kids. We hope she sticks to her decision!

When contacted Rikku, who has looked after Madhuri's career from the start, admits Madhuri's endorsement plans.

'She is at this very moment shooting for an endorsement campaign for Hindustan Lever product. Other endorsements are being finalised. Meetings are on,' he said. The buzz in the film industry is that Madhuri is determined to make a comeback in movies.

Apparently Yash Raj Films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar and UTV have come up with tempting offers. Madhuri is on the verge of signing one of these. 'You're right. She has got four-five very good offers. She will definitely do another film soon. But this time we have to be very careful. I've worked with other actresses, but Madhuriji is Madhuriji,' said Nath.

The diva seems more than happy keeping busy at home away from her adopted home. 'I'm having a ball. I am so glad people have liked me on 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'. I am enjoying this busy phase before the camera,' said Madhuri who is married to US-based doctor Sriram Nene and has two sons with him. Akshay Kumar is spending considerable time with Katrina Kaif

Akshay Kumar is spending a considerable time with Katrina KaifNowadays, because of the promotional tours and occasions for their unique picture Tees Maar Khan, Akshay Kumar is spending considerable time with Katrina Kaif. But also we could probably declare the time is now well spent for Katrina. Akshay is unvaryingly upgrading Katrina's knowledge of Hindi pictures, their titles and other trivia. By now, it's common knowledge that Katrina is not quite clued into the nuances and titles of Hindi cinema. Her co-star Akshay Kumar, who prides himself for being just the opposite and is a veritable encyclopaedia of filmy titles and other trivia, has found an ingenious method of educating his co-star. He plays Dumb Charade with Katrina providing her signs and hints from commercial Hindi films as clues.

And boy, is Katrina getting clued in! Let's hear it, Sheila ki zubaani (voice). "I've to admit I couldn't have hoped for a more fun teacher than Akshay. I come from a place where I can't gush about how I grew up on a staple diet of Sholay and Mughal-e-Azam. Akshay knows it all. He is completely clued into the cult of potboilers and can mimic every actor and act out every famous sequence. Being with him over the last few weeks, I am finally getting knowledgeable about Hindi movies.

The games of Dumb Charade are being played between bouts of promotion on cars and flights in several cities across the country. Akshay and Katrina have hired a private plane for the 12-city 25-day tour. "So we get a lot of time to play Dumb Charade. By the time the promotions for Tees Maar Khan are over, I think I'll be an expert on Bollywood trivia," Katrina has her fingers crossed.

The education works both ways. While Akshay acts out scenes from Hindi films during Dumb Charade, Katrina mimes magical moments from Hollywood films for Akshay. "So I guess we are both learning on the job," she chuckles.

I've seen Kolkata like I've never seen before."

So when it comes to hard work, you know for sure that Vidya Balan nails it and how. To our surprise, she unquotes her quote, "After Parineeta, I felt that I really worked hard in Ishqiya but after Kahani, I felt that I've never worked hard before. We worked our a** off. It's about this woman who comes down from London in search of her husband and what a search it was.

Suave, smart, hard working, talented and then comes respect. Yes, one of the most respected names when it comes to the field of acting, she doesn't forget to pay one too to her director Sujoy Ghosh. She comments, "I must say this today that I have the highest regards and respect for Sujoy Ghosh more as a human being. No one in my experience, so far, has been so wonderful at dealing with pressure. I almost felt that the crew were going to lay their lives for him. Asin & Salman Khan: 2.5 crore for shaadi song

Asin & Salman Khan: 2.5 crore shaadi songConstantly known to be a paramount part of the picture, music additions more terrific hugeness when a musical team is at the rudder. No astonishment then that for Anees Bazmee's Ready, offering Salman Khan and Asin, each tune arrangement in the picture is touted to be a highlight. Bhushan Kumar, who is Generating it, has spent something greater than Rs 2.5 crore on what he calls, “a complete clan item melody”.

The exec of T Series, under which Kumar is making the picture in affiliation with Rajat Rawail, expresss that so far item tunes have invariably been identified with flawless kids. “This one specialties the whole clan parting about the marriage of the lead elements, took on by Salman bhai and Asin. A lot more sophisticated than, express, Munni badnaam hui or Sheila ki jawani, by reason of 25 30 associates of the tribes are additionally participating in it. Salman bhai is obviously the male flavor component in this number,” he demonstrates.

Kumar goes on to explain that since Ready, a romantic comedy with a few action sequences, is targeted at a family audience, it seemed imperative to have a suitable song. “And since a music company is producing it, the number has to be larger than life,” he says, adding, that the situation in the movie helped them conceptualize the song sequence.

Art director Rajat Podar started working on the extravagant and sprawling set at Film City, Goregaon, last month and it took choreographers Chinni Prakash and Mudassar six days to shoot the song. Apart from the actors and 100 dancers, about 100 more extras were featured to fill up the expansive set.

Interestingly, it took composer Pritam four months to create the music for the song, Peechhe peechhe. “When you hear the song, you will understand why it was so very important to get the tune right,” says Kumar, refusing to reveal more about the lyrics. He reasons, “The punchline is the most important part of the song and it’s too early to give that away now. It’s also going to be an important part of our promotional strategies.”

Currently, the producer is discussing another highlight song sequence of Ready with Bazmee and the team. “We’ll be building another grand set for that too because that’s the second larger than life number of our movie,” he asserts.

Akshay Kumar: Canada is paradise on earth

Akshay Kumar: Canada is paradise on earthBollywood star Akshay Kumar, who was here Friday to support his picture "Tees Maar Khan", stated he anticipated the picture to repeat the accomplishment of his past hits and called Canada a paradise on earth.

"What you are going to see in 'Tees Maar Khan' is total entertainment. It is a Bollywood masala movie which will appeal to everyone,'' said the actor. The film is due for release next week. In the film, directed by Farah Khan and jointly produced by his wife Twinkle Khanna, Akshay plays a con man named Tabrez Mirza Khan, with Katrina in the role of his girlfriend Anya.

"I play the role of an uneducated con man who plans to rob a train containing 10,000 kg of antiques. The script is so good that all characters come along with me and I am conning all of them. I rob the train with their help but no one among them knows that they are helping me,'' said Akshay Kumar, rating Katrina as his favourite actress.

The actor credited Farah Khan with doing an excellent job of directing the film. "She did a great job. Because of its excellent script, the film has created new 'muhawara' (idiom) in dialogue,'' he said, reciting a few lines used in the film. About his own role, he said, "I have been an entertainer for the past 22 years. I have done it in this film and will keep doing it in the future.''

"I love Canada since I did my first film here 17-18 yeas ago. I have been here hundreds of times, but every time I love coming here again. I tell people in India that if they want to see 'jannat' (heaven) on this planet, they should visit Canada,'' said the actor who is currently serving as a brand ambassador in India for the Canadian Tourism Commission.

The star, who finished shooting his first Hollywood film 'Break Away' here some time ago, said, "The film will be released in May-June. We have sold its distribution rights to Alliance Atlantis."Shot in Toronto, the film revolves around Canada's national game ice hockey to address issues of cultural conflicts among new immigrants to this country.

Asked whether Bollywood standards were declining, he said, " No, Bollywood's standards are going up. While they used to release up to 500 prints, now these numbers are up to 2,500.''

He also expressed ignorance about his role in Deepa Mehta's proposed film "Komagata Maru". "I don't know anything about the film. Nobody has approached me.''Asked to rate his favourite hero and heroine, he said, "I like watching Sanjeev Kumar...... and Katrina Kaif."

I didn’t meet Sabrina prior to the picture: Vidya

I didn’t meet Sabrina prior to the picture: VidyaWhat do you do when you play a real life character onscreen? First thing you do is to meet that person to study the character more closely. But Vidya Balan doesn't agree with this concept.

The actress who played Sabrina Lall in Raj Kumar Gupta's most awaited film 'No One Killed Jessica' decided not to meet Sabrina while doing this film.

"I didn't meet her before the film," said the actress. According to Vidya, it was a mutual decision taken by her and her director Raj Kumar Gupta who wanted the focus to be on their interpretation of Sabrina.

"What we have borrowed from the real life case is the legal journey. But the emotional journey is something that is a work of Raj and mine. We worked on the character on our own. It's Raj's interpretation that I fell back on so I didn't have to meet Sabrina," said Vidya, who is busy promoting NOKJ.

Vidya reveals that she met Sabrina recently after completing NOKJ. The actress informs that she got to know Sabrina more after meeting her. "I did get a chance to meet her recently and I was quite overwhelmed at that point," she concluded.
