Kareena Kapoor Says Good Bye To Bikini Acts

Kareena Kapoor Says Good Bye To Bikini ActsThough, Bebo can hardly shrug off the ’sexy’ tag… she’d gleefully prefer to be termed ‘glam.’ Word has it that KK turned a crimson shade of red when a young group of girls sent her notes saying they found her sexy, during her filming stint for ‘Bodyguard’ on a college campus.

By her own admission, Kareena is “very sexy and Punjabi” in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Ra.One’; “innocently sexy” in ‘Bodyguard’ and “crazily sexy” in ‘Short Term Shaadi.”
KK, who’s been voted ‘Bollywood’s sexiest woman’ by a leading fanzine, has decided that though she’s decidedly sizzling in a bikini, she’s simply not comfortable with the ’sexy tag’.

The actress, who made size zero a national obsession states in a tabloid quote, “I’m still thin, but no longer stick thin and that works well for me. Let the other heroines lose weight now, since I’ve decided that I’m never going to wear a bikini ever again onscreen.”

On the anvil… gulp, gulp…. is a character modelled on Mandakini (’Ram Teri Ganga Maili’) in the sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’. Er, Mandakini rose to great heights after she displayed her super twos for the camera in a white sari under the waterfall, Raj Kapoor ishtyle.

Clarifies KK swiftly, “But I don’t think that the role will actually be developed along those lines.”

Kangna Ranaut: Madhubala motivate Kangna for 'Tanu Weds Manu'

The film tells the story of two individuals who are thrown together by destiny and director Aanand L Rai had Madhubala in mind while conceiving Kangna's character.

"Aanand was very clear about the tone he wanted to adopt for the movie. He told me that he wasn't pitting me against the heroines of our times but instead had Madhubala in mind. Of course he didn't mean that in terms of the look or setting, but in the spirit of the film and the character," said Kangna.

The actress, who was last seen playing a arrogant fashionista in Anees Bazmee's 'No Problem', is happy to play a character rather than being concerned with the trappings of being a quintessential Bollywood heroine.

"My character in the film is not glamorous. She is audacious but very lovable character. She is from a very cultured Kanpur family, who has studied in Delhi University. But then she also likes to shock people and have a bit of fun."

Salman jumped from 10,000 feet

Salman jumped from 10,000 feetBollywood's Dabangg actor Salman Khan will be seen doing daredevil stunt in PepsiCo's Mountain Dew new ad where he jumps from 10,000 feet in a 'wing suit' from which a parachute springs open.

'Everyone is afraid of something or the other at some point of his or her life. But if you try to run away from fear, you'd be tired and eventually fear will win. So the best way to overcome fear is to face it, run through it because Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai,' said Salman.

Salman was initially not so sure about the stunt but he eventually did it. Wing suit flying is a new sport of flying through the air in a special jumpsuit and pulling the parachute's ripcord as one approaches the ground.

He is said to be the first celebrity brand ambassador roped in by Mountain Dew. Alpana Titus, category marketing director (flavoured carbonated drinks), PepsiCo India Beverages, says the new campaign is quite big in terms of quality and budget. 'Salman has jumped from a mountain which was 10,000 feet high. He did have jitters initially but was confident it would work out well and he would be able to overcome his fears in turn,' she said.

When asked why Salman was chosen out of all the known faces, Titus said: 'Salman was our first choice because he embodies our (Mountain Dew's) tag-line 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai' accurately and he also has a nationwide fan following. People in not only the metros but also the remote areas follow him.' The 45-second TV commercial will air from Friday and a 60-second commercial will be shown in theaters.

Sonu Nigam will judge new ‘X-Factor’

Sonu Nigam will judge new ‘X-Factor’Singer-composer Sonu Niigaam, who will be judging a show after six years, says he agreed to be part of Sony’s music reality show “X-Factor” because he feels the concept is beyond the mediocracy of other such shows.

“It would be very, very big, dynamic and a very well thought show. For example, we have love stories in Bollywood for 60-70 years, but we still love to see a love story which is written differently. We discard love stories that are made half-heartedly. “This show is beyond the mediocracy of (other) talent shows. India definitely needs a show that is as great as grand as ‘X-Factor’,” Sonu told at the launch of the show on Wednesday.

“I am part of this show because it is as truthful as I believe I am, as rebellious as I feel I am, as contagious as I feel I am. I am pretty glad to be part of this show,” he added. Sonu, who hosted music reality “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” in 1995, stayed away from judging reality shows after he judged the second season of singing talent show “Indian Idol” in 2006.

“X-Factor” is a talent show franchise that originated in Britain and has now come to India. Unlike other talent shows, “X-Factor” will not have any upper age limit for the contestants. “You will get to see a huge variety of singers of all age starting from 16-year-olds to whatever,” said Sonu.

With the band culture being in vogue, “X-Factor” will have a group singers segment along with traditional solo and duet singing sections. Asked about his criteria while judging the contestants, he said: “X-factors are like X-rays. You can’t see them, you will have to feel from heart. You will know it. If anyone could explain X-factor then it would have been an available commodity. Let’s not go with any pre-conceived notions.”

What is Sonu’s X-factor?
“As a person, I am absolutely true to myself, absolutely original. I don’t see myself like anyone else in the world. I have lot of inspirations in my life – from (Mohammad) Rafi saab to Michael Jackson to Lataji (Lata Mangeshkar) to Ashaji (Asha Bhosle). As a human being, I adore a lot of people, but I don’t follow anyone and that is what I believe is my X-factor.” To be hosted by Aditya Narayan, the show will have two more judges but their names have not yet been revealed.

Shun corruption, Shah Rukh Khan tells youth

Shun adulteration, Shah Rukh Khan tells adolescentBollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan Wednesday urged the youth to stay away from corruption and make India a better place by being honest citizens. 'The negative has to change. There is so much corruption around and the future can be bettered by young boys and girls only, so that the generations to come can be proud of the country,' Shah Rukh said while addressing students of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) here.

'It is my earnest plea - do not indulge in scams or corruption. Everyday there are new scams in newspapers and TV. So I request the young generation to do things that do not leave the new generations embarrassed. Just make the best of opportunities and I wish all of you all the best,' he added.

Shah Rukh, who had hundreds of students waiting to catch a glimpse of him, had other words of wisdom to share before hosting IIPM's annual international business and marketing quiz DARE 2011.

'A lot of people ask me what advice I have to give to them. But I'll tell you honestly. I was at an award function with Mr. Bachchan once and before going to the stage, I asked him - 'Sir, do you have any advice to give?' He said- 'Before going to the stage, just check if your zip is up or not.

'So I did that before my performance! And that's all I have to advise you youngsters - make sure all your zippers are intact when you do anything in life, and all shall be well,' said the actor.

The 45-year-old also repeated his dialogue from 'Om Shanti Om', and said: 'Agar end mein sab kuch theek na ho, to woh the end nahi hain dosto...Picture abhi baaki hai... (If something does not end well, that's not the end, friends...the picture is still pending)'.

His nearly three-hour delay left the students and media drained, but Shah Rukh's grand entry in a blue Bentley lifted everyone's spirits in no time. Sporting his deadly, new look for 'Don - The Chase Continues' - complete with long, unkempt hair and a beard, the actor left the girls asking for more. The audience at the Parkland Exotica were enthralled as Shah Rukh hosted the quiz show in his trademark, witty style.

He joked, laughed, pulled the contestants' legs and even took a dig at IIPM dean Arindam Chaudhary's long locks. 'I am sporting long hair for my new film...but I should really learn how to keep them shampooed and straight like Arindam's hair...,' he quipped.

His witty and naughty one liners didn't spare some international students too. When one young girl from the US said she loved Indian saris, Shah Rukh commented: 'Oh well...I am quite good at untying saris!'

7 Khoon Maaf gains Rs.28 crore

Priyanka Chopra's movie 7 Khoon Maaf gains Rs.28 croreVishal Bhardwaj's films may not be money spinners, but they are high on content as is his Priyanka Chopra starrer 7 Khoon Maaf " that has a different story to tell. The film has not only garnered good reviews but has so far earned Rs.28 crore from its opening week box office collections and satellite and other rights.

The dark thriller about an incorrigible serial spouse-killer cost Rs.22 crore, which includes the money spent on publicity and advertising. Released with 786 prints, its opening weekend collection was Rs.13 crore. Overseas collections accounted for Rs.2 crore, the music and satellite rights fetched Rs.11 crore and home video and other sources brought in Rs.2 crore.

"'7 Khoon Maaf' has worked well for us commercially due to a combination of tight production budgeting, optimised spending on prints and publicity and a pre-sales strategy that helped us to de-risk the film via sales of home video, music, satellite and theatrical rights even before the release," Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, Motion Pictures UTV, told IANS.

"7 Khoon Maaf" is based on Ruskin Bond's 'Susanne's Seven Husbands' and tracks the story of a beautiful young girl, Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes (Priyanka), who ends up tying the knot seven times following the untimely and mysterious deaths of her hapless husbands. In the film, Priyanka's character ages from 20 to 65 years.

"The response to the film was good at the weekend with 78 per cent occupancy, although it dropped to 40 per cent on Monday," said Amit Awasthi, senior manager (Programming and Operations) Spice Cinemas.

"The first half of the film is interesting but in the second half it becomes slow. Priyanka's acting is being really appreciated by one and all," he added. The film has garnered good reviews and critics are raving about Bhardwaj's directorial skills and Priyanka's acting prowess.

One reviewer wrote: "Bhardwaj's reveals himself yet again as that rare Renaissance man in an art form that deserves more." Another said: "This is Bhardwaj's most fluidly-narrated film to date."

Appreciating Priyanka's work, one critic said: "Priyanka, not for the first time, proves she is leagues ahead of all competition." Another wrote: "For Priyanka Chopra, who plays the Anglo-Indian protagonist, this is unquestionably a role of a lifetime. She has you by the eyeballs."Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (Cinemas) of Wave Cinemas said every actor in the film had given of their best.

"Priyanka is excellent in the film, Irrfan Khan and Annu Kapoor are known for their acting prowess, John (Abraham) has right stature in the film. All in all, everyone has acted well in the film. Since it's a dark film, family audiences are lower. The occupancy was 60-70 per cent over the weekend," he said. Ritika Sharma, a media professional, was all praise for Priyanka's acting.

Mugdha:My outfits aren't vulgar

Mugdha:My outfits aren't vulgarMugdha Godse gets short end of the stick from conservative Marathi viewers

Mugdha Godse has realised that there is no 'short cut' to success.

The actress, who is currently doing a stint on the small screen as a judge on talent show Marathi Paul Padte Pudhe has caused panic with her dressing sense among the Zee Marathi viewers.

The Fashion star is most comfortable in short dresses.

With a toned body to flaunt, she has no qualms wearing outfits that accentuate her curves. She had even worn a bikini in her last B-Town outing Help.

But her rising hemlines, plunging neckline and styles are cause of consternation among the audience.

"Mugdha stands out among the other judges.

Having been a model, she subscribes to a different set of sensibilities that is hard to digest for the rest on the show as well as the audience.
Says Mugdha, "I just want viewers to realise that wearing western outfits shouldn't be a problem as long as it's not vulgar or too revealing.

This is a show where we are telling people to get globalised and clothes don't make a difference. There is a famous saying 'Clothes don't maketh a man' and I truly believe in that."

R. Madhavan: I am attracted to Kangana

Actor R. Madhavan really enjoyed working with National Award winning actress Kangana Ranaut in " Tanu Weds Manu", so much so that the multi-lingual star admits he has become fond of her and would like to do more films with the pretty actress.

R. Madhavan: I am attracted to Kangana"I am very fond of Kangana and attracted to her. I feel she is an extremely competent actor, very professional and she has actively contributed to the role for the first time," Madhavan told. "As an actor, I have never worked with a heroine who does that. They (other heroines) are happy doing what the script demands from them but Kangana is the one who was pushing the envelope. I hope I can do another film with Kangana, I really enjoyed working with her," he said.

Madhavan rubbished a media report that said he was angry with Kangana as she was hogging the limelight in the film's promotion. "Unfortunately, it's wrong news," he said. "Kangana is shooting in Bangkok, so she did her character's (Tanu) promotion earlier," he said. "There is absolutely no reason to be upset with her and I am really missing her."

Directed by Anand Rai, "Tanu Weds Manu" is set to hit theatres Feb 25. It is a romantic comedy, which shows how two seemingly opposite natured people fall in love. "I don't know why this romantic tag stuck with me for so long.

They (directors) want it, so I give them that. I am not going to fight it. This is a different kind of romantic story. It's not a cliche 'hold my hand and get into a fight' later on kind of story. It's very real and I don't remember if I have seen such a romantic film ever," said Madhavan, who plays the role of Manu in the film.

About the film, Madhavan said: "Manu is brought up in a small town in a middle class family, very happy with whatever his parents have in mind for him, no rebellious quality unnecessarily. He goes to London, spends eight to nine years and comes back with his tradition intact, like most Indian guys, who go from a small town, do.

"What happens is you forget that in the span of time of your staying abroad, your town has changed-McDonalds, MTV, all have come in and people are having flings for the sake of it and suddenly there is a complete mismatch in the opposite direction. "You are an Indian, she is westernized, you are a conformist, she is rebellious and there is a mismatch. But love has its own course."

The character is semantic to most of the foreign-returned small town guys, said Madhavan. "It rarely happens that one who goes abroad, returns with a foreigner wife or girlfriend, smoking and speaking with an accent. Ninety percent come back being more Indian than they were."The reigning star of the south is eager to offer varied shades of characters to his Hindi audience.

"In the south, I have done some really dynamic characters, really brutal and masculine ones. Unfortunately, the Hindi guys haven't seen that angry guy in me as yet. So if a script like that comes along, I would really love to do (the role of) an angry young man now," said Madhavan.

"I think I am competent in comedy. Even 'Tanu Weds Manu' is comical but it has no comedy, it's humorous. But I would love to do a comedy film. I just did a hard-core comedy film in Tamil, which did very well," said Madhavan. The actor revealed that he has signed two more Hindi films but refrained from giving any details.

Lisa Haydon in Sanjay Dutt's next

Lisa Haydon in Sanjay Dutt's nextAfter Aisha, supermodel Lisa Haydon has now been signed for Sanjay Dutt's home production being directed by David Dhawan. It took three connoisseurs of feminine beauty Dutt, Devgn and David to pull her out of hiding after her last release.

According to sources, Lisa's role has been specially written and added to the script. It was Dhawan who spotted her in a picture and suggested to Sanju that she be included in Rascals. Dutt readily agreed. Lisa flew in to Bangkok this week.

The director admits she was a late entry. "I saw Lisa's picture and found her very striking. She is paired opposite both Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn. Don't ask who gets Lisa at the end. Both Sanju and Ajay are Rascals. And if you count me as the third rascal we're quite a badmaash threesome."

The director says he is not bothered about her last film being a fiasco, "These things don't bother me. When Katrina did Maine Kyun Pyar Kiya with me she already a Boom behind her. We're all trying to create an entertaining comedy here in Bangkok. It's Sanju's first production and we all want everything to go well." With such glamorous company, Mrs Dhawan has made sure she is in Bangkok.

Kashyap chooses Salman over Shah Rukh

Kashyap chooses Salman over Shah RukhAfter the success of Dabangg, everyone wants a piece of Abhinav Kashyap but the Dabangg director is a loyal man! Even though Bollywood baadshah Shah Rukh Khan is eager to work with him, Kashyap has decided to stick with Salman Khan and refused SRK.

Buzz is that Salman wanted Kashyap to start working on Dabangg 2 while King Khan wanted Kashyap to direct a film for Red Chillies Entertainment. The director was caught in crossfire between Bollywood's most famous archenemies. Meanwhile, Kashyap even went for a meeting with SRK where the actor reportedly told the director that he would act and produce the film.

Later, what transpired between Salman and Kashyap is unknown but the Dabangg director chose Sallu over SRK. Speculations suggest that Kashyap decided to remain loyal with Salman, who gave Kashyap his first blockbuster hit.

A source told, "The shooting of Dabangg 2 starts in December 2011. As for SRK's film, he has still not been able to lock the script. The SRK project is still far away."Wonder how the baadshah will react to this snub!

Sonakshi Sinha: From a stout looker to a trimmed shocker

Sonakshi Sinha: From a stout looker to a trimmed shockerSalman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ co-star Sonakshi Sinha is the latest thing that has taken Bollywood by storm. She is the same actress who set the male pulses racing in her maiden film as a coy demure village lasso.

However, surprising it may sound but Sonakshi was not always the head-turner that she presently is. Only till a year back, she was quite a plump girl and she was not quite fit for playing the glam doll in Bollywood flicks. But thanks to some strict lifestyle and hard work, she has lost around 30 kgs in the course of the past few months to make herself presentable in Bollywood films.

And talking of her weight losing program, she had to resort to yoga and follow strict dietary regimen to cut down on those extra pounds. Fortunately for her, veteran actor Salman Khan (who is himself a fitness freak) motivated her and egged her to pursue her dreams. It was he who urged her to jump into Bollywood wagon wheel after he saw some good potential in her.

And now the scenario is that the only-one-film old Sonakshi is being demanded by many big banners. She has already signed Shirish Kunder’s ‘Joker’ and ‘Race 2’ in which she shall be flaunting her glamorous image i.e. you would get to see her in slimmer and trimmer look (trimmer than what she was in ‘Dabangg’). And we bet that she would be looking like million bucks….what say folks?

Hrithik Roshan in Farah Khan's next

Hrithik Roshan act in Farah Khan Next flickExpect the unexpected when it comes to Bollywood. After facing Box Office heat with the poor show of ‘Tees Maar Khan’, Farah Khan mended her estranged relationship with Shah Rukh Khan. After all, SRK was her lucky mascot in ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’. Apparently, Farah, whose next will be co-produced by UTV and her company Three’s Company, is contemplating to cast Hrithik Roshan in the lead role.

Buzz has it that Farah Khan’s shift towards Hrithik Roshan took place when she upset the broadcasters of ‘Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’ by signing the dance based reality show ‘Show Me you Can Dance’, which has Hrithik Roshan as one of its judges.

It is still unclear whether Farah chooses Hrithik or someone else as she wants to stick to her original style of film making in her new project. The film will be based on dance with a lot of action sequences as well.

Farah Khan has almost finished the first half of the script of her new film and is working on the second half. When contacted, Farah Khan said, “I will think of casting once the dialogue draft is ready.”Hmm…now that’s smart move by the lady!

Shahid Kapoor In Mausam - First Look

Shahid Kapoor In Mausam - First LookIt has been predicted that 2011 will undoubtedly be the year for sequels in Indian cinema. However, one such film which won’t be a second or third installment is Pankaj Kapur’s Mausam. Starring his son Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, the movie will see Shahid play the role of a pilot which, if rumours are to be believed, has a likeness with Tom Cruise’s character in Top Gun.

With the tag-line “A timeless love story” and recently revealed first looks of a unique nature, the film is said to be one of the most romantic stories of recent times. The posters give a regal feel and fans can be forgiven if reminded of a look which draws similarities to 1942 - A Love Story. The two posters that Shahid tweeted on Valentine’s Day as the “Season of love” are cleverly designed in warm and cold colours, in keeping with the “Mausam” theme. The eternal element is brought in only when looking at both posters at once where it is noticeable that one attempts to encompass a love story with the innocence of yesteryear whereas the other depicts a contemporary pose between the two protagonists.

Mausam is already creating waves of expectations for fans and industry folk with the freshness that comes along with it. The movie will see Shahid in a role very different to any other he has portrayed before. The actor was recently reported to have to fly an F-16 fighter jet for his role and was honoured to do so. A source close to the event revealed, “Shahid couldn’t drink any liquid 4 hours before flight n couldn’t eat anything 16 hours before, except for two chocolate bars before flying”.

The movie will also give birth to a fresh new jodi in Bollywood. Although at first glance, Shahid and Sonam may seem like an unlikely pair, their coming together will be interesting to say the least. It has been said that the two shared a good rapport whilst shooting and their tweets while in filming in Scotland reflect just that. Stories were rife about Sonam’s refusal to kiss the chocolate boy Shahid on-screen but on the whole, it seems the duo will set the screen on fire in a sweet and romantic sense.

Asin in Rajinikanth's Raana restricted by Hindu People Party

Recently Asin was included in the list of probable actress to romance with Rajinikanth in Raana. She and Deepika Padukone are expected to be cast in lead roles since both are known faces in Bollywood and can fit into the Hindi version of the trilingual film well.

Asin in Rajinikanth's Raana restricted by Hindu People Party

But it seems her enthusiasm may be dampened from the opposition for her inclusion in Raana from unexpected quarters, Hindu People Party. Rajinikanth who plans for his venture always by avoiding controversies shall take a decision considering this development.

Hindu people Party and other Hindu Nationalist parties are nowadays concentrating in Ealem Tamils issue. Asin has been targeted now since she went to Columbo disobeying the ban by a section of Tamil Film industry. Even the persons like Amitab Bachan and Aishwarya Rai avoided visiting Colombo immediately after the end of genocidal war in which thousands of innocent people were killed by the Sri Lanka security forces.

Asin has been now put into a delicate position since she was earlier planning to shift from Tamil dominated Kollywood to Hindi dominated Bollywood and hence ignored the advice of the Tamil film industry not to visit Colombo. Now Endhiran has set a new trend of marketing Tamil films all over the Nation including the Hindi heartland. Any Rajini film is going to do business in all languages. This recent development has put the plans of Asin under strain. She may regret visiting Colombo now.

Deepika Padukone, Anushka, Asin and Trisha are all waiting for an official announcement to be made to find whether they are selected from this shortlist. With the controversy raked up by Hindu People Party if Asin finds the exit Trisha may be lucky to come in.

I look forward to being in love: Amrita Rao

I look forward to being in love: Amrita RaoThe past few months have seen actress Amrita Rao deal with rumours about her link-up with co-star Tusshar Kapoor. But while the actress laughs them off, insisting that she’s very much single, she does admit that, ‘being in love’ is something that she looks forward to.

“Of course, I’d love to be in love someday, but it’s not something that you can go hunting for either. So, the wait for my Prince Charming continues,” reveals Rao. She may be single, but that doesn’t keep Rao from celebrating Valentine’s Day today. She reveals her plans for the day to DNA, “I plan to celebrate it with a bunch of very close friends.” She is quick to add that despite her single status, she does not feel the ‘love-pangs’ at all.

“We might have picked one day in the calender to celebrate love... but I choose everyday!” smiles Rao, as she shares her love mantra. “I think our generation believes in making things happen and not in waiting for a day or a reason for things to happen,” says Rao . But that does not mean that she brushes aside V-day as just another day. Rao still believes in the magic in the day as she says, “Yes, there’s something special about Valentine’s Day.”

So, what’s the best Valentine’s gift she’s ever got? “A fan from Nagpur spent probably all his savings to gift me a guitar and waited outside my house for days just to present it to me! It was straight out of a romantic novel!” she gushes.

A die-hard romantic at heart, Rao explains, “To be in love with every breath you take, flutter those dreamy eyes and flaunt that mooney smile every time your character falls in love on screen... oh, yes you got to be a ‘helpless romantic’ to transcend all that, each time with more conviction on screen!”

But that’s on screen. Off it, she does admit that being a celebrity takes a toll on personal relationships. “It’s funny the way people link you up and then have imaginary break-ups too. It’s hurtful. But I have always chosen not to make a daily soap of my personal life!”

What she doesn’t mind revealing though is how she would want to be wooed by her Prince Charming... “I’d want my man to stop all traffic and propose to me in the middle of the Bandra-Worli sea link,” she laughs as she signs off to celebrate the day.
